this was the obvious move they had to make. we all wanted degrom, but if you're not going to sign him due to the years and injury risk, then signing verlander, who is 5 years older but more 'healthy' at this point than degrom, to a shorter deal had to be done.
i'll be happy if we sign nimmo. beyond him there's a big dropoff in 'plan B' type players unless we decide to really shake things up, sign judge, and move marte to CF.
