that's kind of how i got it too lol. it would be hard for lawson to figure that out just speaking to cimini for the first time, but we know him. he was basically trying to say something like 'why wouldnt cincy try harder to keep you/how wanted were you by other teams/did the jets end up with a guy because nobody else wanted him that much?'.
a better question to ask a new guy would have been 'how hard was it for you to leave a team/city you've been in for the last few years, and why NYJ?'

The knock is that he's a Jets beat writer more concerned with writing about the free food he's provided or Marvel movie rankings than he is with providing substantive, timely coverage of the New York Jets.
I think Manish was and is the bottom rung of what can be expected from a beat reporter: he was actively detrimental to the success of the team. But he wasn't lazy. Connor Hughes is.

Beat writer is a real job and the good ones have access that no one else does. It's just that none of ours are good.
I don't know if other NFL teams are different, but in hockey and soccer the good beat writers always have the exclusives and always know what's real.

Anyways my main point is that we’re probably not going anywhere in the short-medium term future unless Zach develops enough to compete with those QBs. Or unless we develop a superpowered defense and run game, but even then if Zach wasn’t excelling with those units around him that would not bode well.

Sanchez was amazing on those playoffs. We were a ground and pound team that asked their QB to minimize mistakes and convert 3rd downs. Sanchez did it over and over again on those games. Of course if he were prime Rodgers it would have been different but we wouldn't have been in that position and the offense would have been built differently.

I didn't hear the interview, but I would agree that we are at the bottom part of the AFC. Not the very bottom, but probably the bottom 1/3. We have upgraded the talent greatly, but it all hinges on Zach and not having 157 injuries.
Name the teams that are worse than us in the AFC right now. There aren't that many.

Who are we clearly better than in the AFC? Texans for sure. Not sure you can say anybody else with certainty. I would like to think Jacksonville, but I'm sure they look at the Jets and think they're better. Anyone else? Nobody I can say confidently. The team with the 4th-longest odds to win the AFC are the Steelers, and the Steelers haven't had a losing record since 2003 (and made the playoffs last season).
The gap has closed, but we still haven't proven anything. We have the 2nd-lowest win total in the AFC based on the odds. I haven't seen any projection models, but I'm sure we're near the bottom of the AFC in most metrics. I'm optimistic about this team, but the AFC is really deep and really good. Until Zach Wilson shows more, we're near the bottom.

Zach Wilsons play is probably the difference maker between us being a 5 win team and a 10 win team.
But until he proves it, you can't give him the benefit of the doubt.
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect the Jets to finish last in the division this year, although I'd say we probably have a better team top to bottom than New England.

I read that on NJ.com but didn't share it because who knows how true any of it is.
Why would Woody be unconvinced of Saleh? Without multiple huge injuries, we might be doing more than hoping for some dominoes to fall our way to make the playoffs right now.
I don't think there will be many arguments if he demands an overhaul of the offensive staff though.
