Gregg Knapp is a good get. Former Atlanta Falcons OC for 3 years...also a former QB.  Actually, he's been around a few teams.  Lots of experience here.

He's been behind some good lines.  Developed Duane Brown and Eric Winston in Houston during the Arian Foster years.  He was there in Miami when they got Tunsil.  And obviously the Niners line the last few years has been one of the best in football.

I am very, very excited about this hire.

The Alex Gibbs/Mike Shanahan zone blocking scheme is coming to the New York.  Let's roll.

If this is legit, then Jeff Ulbrich would be a massive hire.  Atlanta Falcons DC that is well-schooled in Cover 3.  Hoping he's our LBs coach, maybe assistance HC.

I wonder if Saleh is trying to get Raheem Morris as DC.

Knapp was most recently the Falcons QB coach and was an OC in SF, Atlanta, Oakland and Seattle. He and Jets coach Robert Saleh were on the Texans staff together in 2010

Jets coach Robert Saleh will interview a few defensive coordinator candidates from diverse backgrounds, but one name to keep a keen eye on for the job: Falcons assistant Jeff Ulbrich. Saleh and Ulbrich were together in Seattle.

The ex-49ers LB was interim DC in Atlanta, post-DQ.

Saleh can cross Morris off the potential DC list.

Pruitt has never coached in the NFL, and it doesn't look like he and Saleh have ever been on the same staff.

Someone must have recommended Pruitt to Saleh.

I think he'd be the only guy on the staff with head coaching experience at the NFL/FBS level.

Saleh always has a bit of Rex in him. "It's going to be an exciting time for the organization." It's extremely refreshing. Having confidence is a good thing, even if it can border on cockiness.

One thing Saleh has said in the past was how important it is to get different viewpoints and to learn from different people, and to have a diverse staff. He ended up hiring a lot of his buddies. I'm hopeful that he picked the best guys he could realistically grab from his former stops and hired a quality and diverse staff. I have no reason not to believe him. So I don't really agree with Cimini saying the downside is that it might limit different ideas. We don't know that.

To me, the biggest negative about the staff is that nobody really has head coaching experience. Does that actually matter? No clue. But that's the only real negative I have about the staff is that Saleh doesn't have anyone on the staff who has been in that situation.

I think the other factor to that is that for most of them it's a promotion, so even if they aren't new ideas within the group they might very well be better able to express and implement them than they have previously. I think that the fact that they know and trust each other should hopefully help foster an environment in which people are less afraid to introduce new ideas and to innovate. I am with you on not agreeing with Cimini.

The Jets are hiring Washington State special teams coordinator Michael Ghobrial to be their assistant special teams coach, a source said. He will assist STC Brant Boyer, who was retained by new HC Robert Saleh. Boyer's previous assistant was Jeff Hammerschmidt, who spent four years in that role. Ghobrial has a connection to new DC Jeff Ulbrich; years ago, they overlapped as members of the UCLA staff. Ghobrial's move was first announced on Twitter by WSU coach Nick Rolovich.

Really liking this staff.  Nice mix of coaching tree familiarity and former players

Not entirely unheard of but the fact anyone is scoffing at the list is surprising.

Who was it Cimini? Lol

I like the fact we are creating a brand new department in charge of preventing injury. At least according to the cimini tweet below the one shown

So Team USA has the hottest doctors? I figured it would have been the Brazilian national team.

No doubt...even if Thibs is there at 4, I wouldn't be flabbergasted if Sauce is our pick (I would be a little surprised and bummed).

I'm not convinced that a new assistant coach on a different unit will have a particularly strong voice in the draft room. I'm sure they'll value his input as to Gardner's abilities, personality etc, but I don't know that hiring Scruggs necessarily makes it more likely that they'll select him.

They'll just have more intel on guys from Cincinnati - Sauce Gardner, Myjai Sanders, Coby Bryant, Darrian Beavers, and Bryan Cook are all players at positions where we need help.

Cook is a lot like Michael Carter II.  Super versatile nickel/safety that will be around in the mid-to-late rounds.

Thibs would have to do something really off-putting in our team interview process to slip by.

But I've said this for a few weeks now:  if Gardner runs a 4.3, he solidifies himself as an elite prospect at a premium position.

I can think of many instances where a former college coach was rumored to draft one of his old players but few if any where he actually did so.

Odds are a bit higher here due to our number of high picks, and their multiple quality prospects at positions of need.

But of course I don't think they're going to leapfrog a guy who's higher on their board just to pick a guy a positional coach likes.
