We really need to start looking at 4-3 LBs.

Gross. I haven’t done that in over 10 years and they feel foreign to me

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
Nick Bolton

It'll be interesting to see if Saleh is interesting in someone like Hamsah Nasirildeen...

Who is the closest Comp to Jonathan Vilma
Surratt has a ton of upside

I don't think there's a Mike that comes close that that level in this draft class
maybe Dylan Moses
-
Gonna have to rework these today because several players stayed in school. Plus, my rankings are usually based on the 3-4 defense.

Also make sure you factor in the Shanahan zone blocking scheme.

Secondary: Absolutely hate the safety class. It stinks. A ton of talent at corner this year, hoping to see us come away with two CBs.
Linebacker: Owusu-Koramoah is a guy to watch for the 23rd overall pick. He's a new age linebacker that Saleh could build around.
DL: We have no real need at defensive tackle and that's a good thing because this class is pretty mediocre. EDGE group is solidified for me and has been for a while. Any of the top five pass rushers would be a great fit for us.
-
If Ojulari is there at 23, take him and kill all the QBs
Lawson/Ojulari would be big time
Rousseau is a better scheme fit though
-
The fact that we haven’t signed a Vet CB like Steven Nelson or Richard Sherman has to mean that CB is heavily in play at 23
There’s also the possibility that Surtain, Newsome, or Farley drop to 34
I love Asante Samuel Jr and am down for him at 34 if everyone else is gone but I don’t think I’d be picking him thinking he’s a future CB1. He might be a slot

If he wasn't called Asante Samuel are you really drafting him at the top of the second? I've only seen him a few times but he doesn't seem to really be a presence on the field - QBs don't avoid him, he isn't jumping routes consistently, and he isn't making receivers keep one eye on him. I'm not at all convinced he's a great player in the NFL.

If Surtain II falls to 34, something is seriously wrong

The only thing that could make that happen is worse medical on him than Farley

I firmly believe he’s the 5th best corner in the draft. I haven’t watched nearly as much CFB the past couple years, but he was a guy I actually watched and stuck out as a positive even on a bad team. He’s a very legitimate 2nd-3rd round talent. My biggest concern with him is his size.

Contingent on getting a gord with our next pick, I'm warming up to Kwity Paye at 23. We need a smart run defender to set the edge against Allen, Tua, and possibly Fields.

Rousseau
mainly because he's 2 years younger than Paye

Yeah but what's Rousseau's floor? At least with Paye, you're getting solid run defense and then if you coach up his pass moves, you've got something special. Rousseau is such an all or nothing gamble.

If we draft Rousseau, I'll shutdown JO.
-
Yeah but what's Rousseau's floor?
The only reason anyone has Paye over Rousseau is because he played in 2020.
Rousseau was coming off of a 15.5 sack season (20 TFLs) and was advised he had nothing left to prove. He was considered a top three pick after 2019 ended.
He isn't a gamble. He has elite traits and put up elite production at Miami.

This was one of the most dominant games by a defensive lineman that I've ever seen
