freak you Gase
-
I don't care what anyone says, we're on a 7-0 run entering next week, and Darnold's last throw was phenomenal. Momentum!
-
Fire Gase. Sell the team.
Put me out of misery.

gase isnt gonna be happy that sam threw it deeper than 4 yards to the left, there will be hell to pay in the locker room
-
Embarrassed, yet I still think it was better than last week.
That Herndon drop in the end zone was a great play by Sam and it still pisses me off that he didn’t catch that.
It makes absolutely no difference in the Final outcome, but freak it I am still mad at that poopchute for not making the play
-

No question it was better than last week. That's sad statement.

I love the mustard on this one: poor man's Kyle Shanahan who can't overcome injuries gets blown to pieces by actual Kyle Shanahan who can.

Just goes to show you we were right last year when it wasn't the roster that was the problem, it was the head coach.
Time to start firing people.
-
No more excuses. Hold people accountable. Fire Gase today. We're not competitive. This team is 3-13 under Gase, take a chance with someone else. Worst case scenario you fire them at the end of the season.

The roster is still the biggest problem. I want Gase gone after this season, just like everyone else, but the roster is still the biggest problem for sure.

I wanted him gone last season....so we could get a headstart on reparing this team. Nope...too much "brilliance" still emanating from Gase's head.
-
I don't think Sanu stepped onto the field today. Shanahan didn't need him.

Exactly. Limit the damage this cuck can inflict on the team. He's cancer.

He’s not wrong but at the same time it still feels like he’s deflecting blame. Like saying he did his part but th failure is on the players.

Never a shred of accountability. It's always on the players.

Hey props to Vilma, though. He does a really good job in the booth.
-
We had two 10+ play drives in the 1st half and ended up with 3 points. We actually strung together 1st downs today. But when we refuse to take any shots down the field, we are dependent on either stringing together a lot of 1st downs and consistently executing well, or busting open a big play out of nowhere.
The best news from this game was Quinnen Williams. His best game as a pro.

The first three drives weren't that bad, we just didn't execute in the red zone, and we have such a small margin for error given our talent and lack of big plays (or attempt to get big plays).
Allowing 3 touchdowns on the first 4 drives for the 2nd straight week was what concerned me more this week.

There were 2 positives in this game
-Sam not getting hurt
-Quinnen Williams
everything else was a steaming pile of horseshit.

1. Sam played decently enough, didn't have any egregiously bad plays, had one really good play, and didn't get hurt.
2. Quinnen had his best game as a pro.
3. For the most part, the OL was solid again.
Our last three 1st-round picks played pretty well. The rest...not so much.

Next season? Hopefully sooner than that. I hope Cameron Clark is good enough to take his spot soon.

This would be ideal. We were only hoping GVR could be decent but he looks below average.

I'm not seeing the evidense that Gase is willing to make depth chart adjustments outside of injuries.

Why would you wait till after the season?
Because I don't really see the point of firing him now other than throwing the fans a bone, and I don't care enough for that. I'm pretty convinced Gase is gone unless there is a miracle turnaround, and if there is a miracle turnaround, then great.
If Johnson hired him and just defended him publicly, and Douglas didn't fire him, that means they believed in Gase. Two games shouldn't be enough by themselves to make you go from supporting him to immediately firing him. There are plenty of excuses out there to use (new OL, injured WRs, injured RBs, tough defenses, no preseason). Those are all the same excuses we make for Sam. If you still believe in Gase, you could make some of those excuses for him, too.
If they fired him tomorrow, I'm not going to say it's a bad decision. I'd probably be happy because it would confirm that he's gone. But I'm not sure if firing Gase, having a lame duck Dowell Loggains running the offense and being Sam's QB coach, and hiring Gregg as HC is going to help anything. I'd probably rather have Darnold have that coaching, even if it's not the best coaching. Plus, Gregg's defense has been just as bad as Gase's offense through 2 games, so who on this staff has earned a promotion? Boyer?

I'm mad, I should have just done the Jets team total rather than the game total. Then I could have been happy about the Berrios TD when it happened, and I could have won money.

Loggains would go with Gase. I expect it would be Cooter running offense and possibly coaching Sam.
-
Looking a little on the bright side, the OL looked good again. I know they had multiple injuries but at least it’s baby steps, and Sam won’t see ghosts all the time if things start to improve in that department.

I don't think anyone was particularly verklempt about it, were they? Everyone just wanted him to start showing something a bit more than he has so far. As I recall, that was a horrible draft to be holding the pick we did (#3?) because the best players on the board there weren't the kind of players fans love, because they weren't flashy playmakers. Everyone was hoping Maccagnan would trade out of it, including Maccagnan, but no other team really wanted it either.
It took Gerald McCoy at least a couple of seasons to start consistently getting to the QB. If Q can follow a similar career path to McCoy then we'll all be very happy, I think.

I am not a turf expert, but I feel that would be a reason why the turf might suck, not the other way around.

Were there any notable injuries in the Giants game last weekend?
-
Early in the game Gase eas using the TEs mostly as blockers on the WR screens. I guess targeting them is some kind of heresy punishable only by an anal pear.

Firing Gase does something more than appease the fans. It tells the team that this excrement is unacceptable from management.
Fire him immediately. It doesn't change the roster, but it sends the right message. This unaccountable piece of trash needs to go.

Also, someone else calls the plays and works with Darnold on a week to week basis. That’s the main point for me. This is a lost season, do something to try to salvage Darnold’s development rather than watch everything devolve to excrement.

100%. Your house has caught fire and the first fire extinguisher you pick up appears to be spraying gasoline. Do you a) try another extinguisher, or b) figure "well, let's run this one down to empty to see if it gets any better"?
-
like others have said, a few games from now if we're trending towards 'gase doesn't have a future with this team', it would be best to cut ties asap and not wait for the end of the season.
would give us a look with sam under another coach/playcaller. i'm not super concerned about the fact that it would be a new offense/playbook, because the one we've had for over a year now just does not work, so the continuity doesn't mean anything for us right now.
i think being able to see how sam looks under another coach is very important. i don't want to be the second team that gives up on an actually good NFL QB due to gase's ineptitudes
-

I'm obviously an optimistic Q guy but we need see sustained high level performance before we start making declarations like this.

I think it does, if only because attempting to introduce an entirely new one while the season is happening will only introduce further confusion and disconnection in the offense. I'm completely supportive of firing Gase immediately but I think that whoever takes over for the rest of the season has to be internal, because they have to know what the players know. Ideally I'd like a new HC willing to work with someone like Cooter or Jefferson as interim OC until the end of the season, introduce some additional plays and wrinkles to the 2020 playbook, and crucially actually call the right plays on a Sunday.
