I'm sure he will be just fine.

If not, Jimmy G's 84th string WR's will out play our 4th stringers and it won't matter.

Jets +7 is -120, for some reason early public money is on Jets covering.

Cross country trips with 1pm starts never bodes well for the away team.
Home team gets +3 not sure if that matters without the crowd, but it usually seems to effect the penalties
ARI had a terrible defense last year and SF only managed to put up 20 points

I have no faith in the 49ers offense if Kittle is out. Garoppolo isn't that good. He looked awful last week. Outside of a big pass to Mostert, the offense didn't do a ton yesterday against a bad Arizona defense.

Of course, I have even less faith in our offense.

I feel like all our games vs SF suck. Can't remember the last good one. 2012 was a shitshow game (Santonio's foot exploded). Don't remember 2016 but we sucked that year so I assume we lost. 2008 I think was during the Favre implosion and also Brad Smith almost died.

Early 49ers injury woes:
* CB Richard Sherman: leg, IR (short-term)
* TE George Kittle: knee (iffy for Week 2)
* WR Deebo Samuel: foot, IR (short-term)
* WR Brandon Aiyuk: hammy (missed Week 1)
* WR Jalen Hurd: knee, IR
* C Weston Richburg and DEs Ronald Blair/Jullian Taylor: PUP

49ers iOL depth chart is looking shaky, hopefully that bodes to our advantage since we have guys who should be able to create interior pressure. They have Trent Williams and McGlinchey as their OTs.

Going back to subject, I don’t think it’s going to be a blowout. SF has a ton of injuries in offensive. No Deebo Samuel, Kittle questionable, Aiyuk coming back from injury... and if there’s something that we do decently is defend the run. Then Richard Sherman went to IR. If we had a semi decent team or coach I’d say we could pull the upset. Given it’s not the case, I think we’ll keep it close and lose something like 16-13

You make a good point but I disagree. Agree that the drop off to Berrios isn’t as steep, but I think that’s outweighed by Crowder being Sam’s favorite target right now.

Crowder had 13 targets last week, Perriman had 5. It wouldn’t have mattered if Josh Malone was in there for Perriman or not. I shudder to think what Sam would have looked like if Crowder wasn’t in there - and he didn’t even have a great game, credited with 2 drops.

Hopefully we can take advantage of Sherman being out and Perriman not having to go against Tre White.

Lawrence Cager SZN!

Seriously speaking, I trust in what Joe Douglas is trying with this team, but it's absurd not having drafted more receivers. Our top 3 is a reclamation project, a washed up veteran and a special teamer, and the rest are undrafted FA's. That's unacceptable on any NFL team.

I agree.  But JD's focus was the oline this offseason.  We weren't going to solve all issues in one offseason.

Having said that....the picks used on Ashtyn Davis and Zuniga should've been used on WRs.

I felt like Davis was a "What the hell is this guy still doing on the board? we have to take him" pick

Zuniga is always the guy I wished we had waited on, and tagged a WR there.

It's just so hard to gauge if this rookie class is any good or not given how much time they have all seemingly missed with injuries

it doesn't matter now...the damage is done.  The only way you save this franchise is send Gase packing, and start fresh next offseason with a hand-picked Joe Douglas HC hire.  The Johnsons need to stay off the phone with Peyton Manning, in fact, they need to stay out of the interview room altogether and let JD make the hire on his own.

We also have, what, the 3rd most cap room left?

The down grade from RA to Perriman was strictly financial. The Jets could've signed both and still had a substantial amount of cap space to roll over to next season. The FA group this past offseason wasn't great, but anyone added to this group would have been an upgrade.

Just adding Perriman and Mims to the worst skill position group in the NFL is just not acceptable. More needed to be done. It certainly wasn't hard to predict Crowder or Perriman missing time with injury, and expecting a significant contribution from Mims was a pipedream.

Jets need everything to go right.  49ers only need 1 thing to work.

49ers- 34
Jets- 13

Our defense has no excuse for a slow start this time. Offense will be a struggle. Defense needs to step up.

We can't let Mostert beat us with a big play.  With our linebackers, that's always a possibility.

Not against us.  Some little excrement will break loose for an 80 yard TD.  All the offense they need.

Sam Darnold’s receivers for #Jets game against the #49ers: Breshad Perriman, Chris Hogan, Braxton Berrios.

2 years in a row my optimism for this team died before week 2.

Jesus. I think this is the earliest in a season I've ever considered actively avoiding watching a Jets game.

Did you memory hole 2019? There was nothing positive to look for when Darnold was out.

This is as depressing as last year because I'm worried our young QB isn't the answer. However, I'm still going to watch every second I can to hope they are better than they looked.

The answer to what? Rolling with 4 scrubs off the street as the starting WRs and RB? Making the league’s worst coach look competent?

Until the Jets as an organization figure their excrement out they’re not gonna have the answer at QB.  Really easy to point out that Darnold is struggling and gloss over why: 3 straight years of continual systematic failure at almost every level - ownership, GM, coach, players.

We all know it is hard to evaluate Darnold. But you still have to do it anyway.

We know the ownership sucks. We know the coach sucks. We know the rest of the players suck. Nobody is arguing you on any of those points.

Darnold will have 16 games this season to prove his worth. Nobody is expecting a lot - he has a very low bar to reach. However, I do want to see improvement, and he looks like the same QB he was as a rookie. And that level is acceptable as a rookie but not anymore.

This draft will feature Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. This roster is bad enough wbere getting a pick that high is a real possibility. And if that happens, it will be hard to pass them up. Darnold will be on year 4 and we will have to make a decision on his contract relatively soon.

If he plays better when some of our weapons return and we win some games, it will be a moot point.

I knew this conversation would quickly expand to Justin Fields and Trey Lance. Those guys are no more of a guarantee to fix our franchise than Sam was 3 years ago when Darnold was the top prospect in his class. I’ll obviously concede that point to Lawrence, while making one of my own points: if we drafted Trevor Lawrence 3 years ago I think he would have been a failure in this current situation.

Yes, but Sam isn't Sam 3 years ago. You can't just rely on draft profile anymore. It plays a role, but if the Jets are picking high enough to draft a quarterback, they will need to consider it, especially if it's Lawrence. If the Jets don't have a top 5 pick and Darnold plays decently enough, this conversation will be moot. This is worst case scenario.

I hope Darnold goes 22-30, 280 yds, 3 TD, 0 Int this week in a win, and this conversation goes away.

With all of SFs injuries this game should be close, but it probably won't be.
