Title: 2021 wide receivers
Post by: Derek Smalls on August 30, 2020, 11:57:27 AM
JaMarr Chase just opted out for the season. Likely smart if he stays in shape and tests and interviews well.

His season last year is one of the greatest individual college football season ever by a WR. I wanted to see him play this year without Burrow, as its hard to separate the two a bit and determine just how good both were without the other.

That said he was always going to be a top prospect and this removes the chance he could get hurt on the field.

If he’s on the board when we pick there are only 2 players I’d even be really considering above him based on our team, that’s Trevor Lawrence and Penei Sewell. And if Sam and Becton are the guys we expect we won’t need either more than we do Chase

I have to think even with his outlier issue related to his size, Smith is making a serious campaign to be WR #1 ahead of Chase and Waddle. Dude is absolutely unreal. The only reason he’d be available at Seattle’s pick would be because he is so small. If only Seattle would be picking about 20 we’d have a shot at one of the big 3 WRs IMO. But it’s more likely they are all gone and we are deciding between an OL, a CB an Edge Rusher, or a tier 2 playmaker.

I really hate the idea of taking a WR that early though when hebhasnt played in a year

Senior bowl and combine are so much more important this yr

Just sucks because nothing substitutes more film lol

I would also wager most opt-outs arent seniors to have the opportunity to compete in all star events

Yeah thats why I mentioned combine too

At this point we gotta hope they can have normal camps. Obviously whatever regulations but we need time .  because it's far more important for us being one of the younger teams

I'm sure they could make some exceptions if they end up having these events at all.

It doesn’t matter who plays QB in that offense

I would imagine because he weighs closer to 160 than 185. He's going to delay weighing in until the last possible moment to try and get his weight up

Hollywood Brown has been fine in the NFL playing in a super dumbed down offense.

Smith will be fine.  If defensive holding wasn't a thing, I'd be more worried about his size.  He'll be a problem all over the field.

Jeremiah has H’s son Toney at #20 and my son Tutu Atwell at #31

I obviously prefer Toney and I think Atwell’s frame is a concern, but I don’t imagine many DB’s in the NFL would be able to cover Atwell.

I coached against Shi in a 7on7 tournament.  He kept yelling "this for you, Blac Youngsta" at this kid's dad.

Can confirm that the kid's dad looked like Blac Youngsta.

I'd love to know more names. Who is the dot furthest to the top right for instance? Just slightly lower right than Toney?

Give us a way to see the names of all the dots.

I would consider trading up for Waddle if he fell into the teens. Seems like a perfect fit for this offense.

These players potentially could fall out of the top 10 and are worth trading up for IMO:

-Waddle
-Sewell
-Smith

Assuming we won't land one of the top 5 WR, who should we be targeting in the middle rounds?

We need a player with a good name. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Tre' McKitty are the two best options

I still think 2 defensive guys, 2 OTs, Pitts and 4 QBs go top 10. That means 1 WR. It's not insane to me that somebody would rank Waddle/Smith as WR1, and as such Chase could be there at 10 as well. Can't wait for Thursday to see what we do, as much as I'd go up hard for Waddle/Chase/Sewell, I think ultimately we move up 3-4 slots and snag a guy like Tevin Jenkins.
