Here’s where we can put non Jets related news that comes out.

According to Schefter, Giants will Tag Leonard Williams.

Supposedly this accelerates the Jets 2021 pick to a 4th rounder.

Bless Gettleman for his actions towards us

I assumed so, but after today most of the “big money” guys will be gone.

If Robbie goes for $13 million, and Jenkins gets what he was rumored earlier $12 million+) we might actually get a couple comp picks.

Then again we might just start a spending spree tomorrow ourselves. Who knows

Bengals agreed to terms with CB Trae Waynes, formerly of the Vikings, on a three-year, $42 million contract.

The deal apparently includes $20 million cash in 2020. The No. 11 overall pick of the 2015 draft, Waynes got off to a slow start in Minnesota before gradually becoming a more impactful contributor. He has had a few injury bugaboos, missing two games each of the past two seasons. Capable of playing both inside and out, Waynes could slide in as Darqueze Dennard's immediate replacement in the slot, though at that price, he will also be manning the outside when the Bengals are rolling with just two corners.

That'll bump Poole's price up.

He was only a fifth round pick, it wasn't an awful selection. The bigger problem was, as you suggest, failing to actually bring in quality vets and high draft picks that he could learn behind, and forcing him to figure out how to become an effective starting lineman while playing next to cunts.

Flacco waived. I would love him as a backup if he'd do it and if he would take a massive pay cut. He's not going to have a lot of other options.

Ditto. I'd love to see Flacco here backing up Sam.

I know it's absurd to think about considering how decidedly pedestrian he was for most of his career...his super bowl run is still the most insanely lights out performance over a playoff stretch I've ever seen out of a quarterback, ever. Him and Anquan went freaking nuts.

The #49ers have agreed to terms with former Jets guard Tom Compton on a one-year, $3 million deal, per a league source.

Compton and Shell getting paid is truly mindblowing.

If you ever start 1 game in this league, it's essentially a 8 year pension to bounce around for millions of dollars.

Todd Gurley has been released

Exhibit A on why you never pay a running back.

No idea what they thought he'd last.

Gurley and Chubb both have serious knee concerns.

NFL Update @MySportsUpdate

Darius Slay unloads: Says his relationship w/ Matt Patricia was rough & he didn't respect Patricia as a person. Also said Patricia told him he wasn't a leader & that he had no business working out w/ Aqib Talib & Richard Sherman b/c those guys were elite & Slay was "just good."

LOL, the Belichick coaching tree strikes again.

God I love how big the assholes are in Boston.

It’s so much fun watching them all fail when they leave.  If we need another coach again in the future, I would be up for plucking from John Harbaugh or Andy Reid’s trees

Reid's tree is an incredibly mixed bag.

On one hand, you have Harbs, Pederson, Sean McDermott. On the other, Bowles, Brad Childress, Spags, Pat Shurmer.

Jury is still very much out on Matt Nagy as well.

Why would you trade for him? You can’t do any kind of medical evaluation on him.

Side note: curious to see who we bring in as a backup. And with all the QB moves (I could see Cam to LA) which teams decide to draft QBs.

Would be funny to see Cam forced into signing as a backup.  With his ego, I bet he just retires.

Shurmur is a decent OC. I just don't see him as a HC.

Agree on the ego thing. He should go somewhere like LAR and try to cuck Jared Goff, best case scenario is Tannehill last year with Mariota.

Classic guy that can be a tremendous coordinator but can't occupy the big chair. Dick Lebeau is another big example, although the only shot he got was with an organization that personifies failure.

Wade Phillips gets labeled in the same manner, but I don't think thats the case. The guy went 82-64 over his career including a 29-19 record in Buffalo before they went on a 15 year run of futility.

The way teams try to find head coaches baffles me.

Coordinator jobs and head coach jobs are totally different.  Its much more important for a head coach to be an excellent communicator, leader, and delegator than to be a tactical genius.

Of course after years and years of having absolute excrement at the QB position this is the year there are multiple pro bowl caliber QBs just available for the taking

I think the problem is there's not really an effective "audition" for how to find one. Being a head coach in college is totally different for a host of reasons. Being a coordinator is a completely different job description. It's not like a company that's able to poach another companies Vice President for their top job because the job description is largely the same, just now with more responsibility.

I agree with you of course, the successful CEO and delegator who knows what he's looking for in his coordinators and has his coaching staff on the same page  to effectuate a message to the roster is more likely to be a success then the tactical wizard with absolutely zero people or organizational skills. Matt Patricia is a verifiably smart human being, RPI grads usually are. How's that worked out? It's not like he took over a shitty situation-Lions were 9-7 when he got there.

That's always been the misnomer on scumbag fuckface up in New England. He's the way he is with the media out of preservation and protection of his franchise, but if you've ever seen snippets in terms of how he deals with his players, he's totally different. And his staff knows from top to bottom the expectations and responsibilities they're saddled with, and if they don't measure up, they're gone.
