I can't stop watching these COVID updates from British Columbia. A lot to unpack here.
- I'd pay this lady $1 million to read bedtime stories to me. She might have the most relaxing voice ever. She is the cure for insomnia.
- The sign language dude is freaking out of control. He's poppin' and lockin' for deaf people. He is silently yelling. It looks as if she is interpreting his sign language, not the other way around.
- It's such a weird dynamic that the lady we should be listening to will put you to sleep. And you can't stop watching the dude you can't hear.
- This lady should probably be our president.

I don't think that's WTF at all. Denying an individual the ultimate agency over the one thing that we all truly own is a heinous concept. I would much rather people who have tried and rejected treatment and help be able to give up their lives in a gentle, humane and controlled environment of their own choosing, than be left with the choice of ongoing suffering or a list of hideous ways of ending it.
I'm not anti-euthanasia but this particular case seems weird. Another article I read made it sound like her doctors said "well we tried everything might as well KYS". I suppose if the alternative is her committing suicide on her own then it is what it is, but I really can't wrap my head around it.
Of course I generally understand why someone struggling with mental health issues might resort to suicide but this person seems well-supported.
