for a 2020 3rd rounder and 2021 5th rounder

okie dokie

the Giants are a turd...so that should turn out to be a high 3rd rounder.
-
First ever trade between the Jets and Giants
-
Not bad. Not great either. Now we have more reason to pull against those asshats. Better pick for us.
-
He'll play against us in 2 weeks. Weird.
-
I'll give Douglas this, it takes a pretty impressive set of balls to deal this guy across town.
If he succeeds, he has to know the excrement he's going to get over this.
-
We got a better haul than we would've risking him walking and may or may not have gotten a compensatory pick
-

And we don't have to pay him.
-
We can draft another D lineman in the top 10, rinse, repeat.
-
And we don't have to pay him.
he's not going to command a big salary anyway. Unless he somehow morphs into a sack machine for the Giants, which i don't see happening (this season anyway).
-
5th rounder turns into a 4th if the Giants sign him to an extension
-
3rd rounder turns into a 4th if the Giants sign him to an extension
wut
-
If he signs the 5 becomes a 4.

If he signs the 5 becomes a 4.
that makes more sense
-
I like the trade. Especially if we end up getting an extra 4th for him.
Ain't paying the dude regardless and i have zero worries about a DL who can't rush the passer turning into a star
-
this trade should free up Quinnen to get some playing time.

The entire 2015 jets draft class is now gone. #nyj

Crazy, it's only 2019. Can't imagine why we're a bad team, this should be their prime.
-
No players remain from the 2015 draft.
#DuffNinja
-
Only two active players and I'm not sure if Devin Smith counts. Jesus.
-
It's a horrible look.
In fairness to Mac, look at the top 10 of that draft. Yeesh.
-
TBH, have any of you check out that draft class league wide? It's tough to find a superstar in that whole class, even 10 very good players is a stretch. All-in-all, the draft class looks rather abysmal.
Having no players on the team after 4 years is bad of course, but it has something to do with the pool of players also.
-
His first sack of the season will be of Darnold

This might be the case, but we do this with every draft. In 2014 we had the Idzik 12 and the're all gone except for Enunwa who has been little help for a long time. Pretty sure 2013 and 2016 aren't much better, 2017 we got our safeties, 2018 Darnold, not much else.
-
Should be a pretty high third rounder
Nice spot to grab interior offensive linemen and skill players that slide

Don’t really disagree with your point, but Vic Beasley was taken 2 picks later.
Leo:
17 sacks
2 FF
4 PD
Beasley:
31 sacks
9 FF
11 PD
2 TDs

Pretty much(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20191028/aaafb22f434209463961bcc4be2bc79e.jpg)

Giants wanted Williams, but holdup was money. NYG didn’t have cap to add his contract.
Two sides overcame obstacle by NYJ agreeing to pay $4m of $6m remaining base
-
The reality is the dude would've been a huge waste of cap anyway.
So this is a lot better than either wasting the money or waiting for a possible comp pick.
Not sure why the giants wanted him
-
3rd rounder is the Giants pick, not the Landon Collins comp pick. Can't trade it since they don't have it yet
-
Great move. Never thought we'd get a 3rd, let alone a third and then some.

Much better than just a computer pick for walking

Beasley is absolute derriere lol. Leonard had this level of trade value on an expiring $15 million deal. You couldn't pay most teams to take on Beasley on his option.
-
All things considered its not like we whiffed here. Leonard has been one of the better players of the 1st round.
2015 was one of the worst 1st rounds ever.

The only players worthy of a big 2nd contract are
- Amari Cooper (Got traded)
- Brandon Scherff
- Melvin Gordon (Having trouble getting the money he wants)
- Byron Jones
- Todd Gurley (Injured and has been a shell of himself)
-
Beasley sucks too.
Leonard was fine here. Class act. No issues. Played well. Didnt live up to the pick.
Great job getting value for him before he walks. Great trade.
-
He definitely deserves props for never missing a game.

Killing me.

Love this trade. Gain as many resources as we can in draft capital and cap relief and funnel them all into the offensive line and receiving corps. I'm assuming Robby will be the next shoe to drop.

Beasley would have been the best Jets pass rusher of this decade.

Just realized my image never pasted in my last post. The quality of talent in the first round was pathetic in 2015.

I'm still bummed that Kevin White never panned out.

If he signs the 5 becomes a 4.
We're going to get Vilma'd out of that 4th rounder. I guarantee it.

I believe I read the language was “before the new league year starts” so I imagine he resigns at 4:02 pm on the date of the new league year

Lol back afta this.

I mean we did trade him to another NY team playing on the same stadium so it's not like he had to move or anything.
If they're going to wait for the new contract year we might as well make a play for him, just for the giggles of trading a guy and signing him back a few weeks later in free agency
-
Can we please stop drafting first round DLine only to lose them about three years later? Thanks.

I'm still bitter, that pick should have been a fourth. They just timed it so he officially put pen to paper a day or two into the new league year even though it seems obvious they had already agreed to an extension.

i feel like every extension - contingent deal ends up occurring like this. at least it's happened to the jets before. i specifically remember this occurring with the vilma trade to the saints.

You'd think they'd change the language of the deal by now e.g. "4th becomes a 3rd if player is on your roster in X year"

i was thinking this as i was making that post but i'm sure there's some clause or stipulation in the CBA that wouldn't allow this to happen for whatever reason

Yeah, that's the only explanation for why that isn't the norm.

Or it's basically a 'farce' for teams that give up the player to say "look what we got!" but in reality are comfortable accepting x pick thats a round lower.
