Do we know for sure if anyone's out?

I'm setting the keeper deadline for Saturday, August 24th at midnight. This means that you will only be allowed to change your keepers in the event of an injury between then and the draft. I'll then draw the draft order on Sunday, August 25th.

Once again, the plan is for the draft to be held the weekend before the regular season begins. Let me know if you have any conflicts or preferences as far as the day or time is concerned.

Can you post the keeper rules again?
Title: Re: The OFFICIAL 2019 Friars thread
Post by: Andrew Ryan on August 01, 2019, 03:31:49 PM
You're allowed to keep up to 3 players and each player you're allowed to keep up to 3 years.

Every year you keep a player, his keeper round escalates by 1. Meaning that if you draft a player in the 3rd round, you can keep him for a 3rd in the 1st year, a 2nd in the 2nd, and then a 1st in the 3rd and final year.

The one exception to this is your franchise player, which is a rookie from the previous season you're allowed to keep at their original draft slot in perpetuity. You're allowed to designate one franchise player out of your 3 keepers.

Undrafted free agents can be kept for a final round pick and players that were drafted and released descend a round every time they clear waivers so if a guy who was drafted in the 8th round was released and then cleared waivers 4 times before being picked up, he could then be kept for a 12th rounder.

You can't keep Cooper for a 16th round pick. He was drafted in the 3rd round by IATA last year before he dropped him and you picked him up through waivers. If you want to keep Cooper, it'll have to be for a 3rd round pick.

You can't franchise Woods because he wasn't a rookie last year (he was one of your keepers). You can keep him again for a 15th.

You can't franchise McCaffrey because he wasn't a rookie last year. You kept him for a 2nd last year so you'd have to keep him for a 1st this year.

Mixon was your franchise player last year so you can continue to franchise him for a 4th.

Great strategy by MB to reach on Darnold as a rookie so he gets franchise rights, hold on to him all season through the injury, then let him walk after the year.

Also....Darnold is on the trade block if anyone is interested in keeping him as a 10th round franchise.  Serious offers only.

You realize the only way to franchise Darnold is to remove the tag from Bell, right?

From there you need to log in and access your team. You should be able to access last year's league history and, by extension, your roster from last year.

If you need help, let me know.

I've never really understood the rules around trading keepers, so I just stopped caring about that. Otherwise, I have Marlon Mack at a steal, too, but I can't keep him.

Basically, you can only franchise a player that was on your roster the year before so you can tag and trade but you cannot trade for and then tag.

If this needs to be revisited, we can do that. Obviously, there hasn't been a need in a while.

Okay my bad...I didn’t know you couldn’t trade for then franchise tag.

I’m keeping Bell as my franchise player

If I were you, I would just keep Darnold. You never know when Gordon's going to get suspended again. Plus he's a Patriot so how much more reason do you need?

You're not going to be able to see the league history through the app. You have to go through the website. You'll be able to draft and then manage your team through the app.

I'm making a change to my keepers after some moves went down in the last 24 hours or so.

I'm not longer going to keep Damian Williams.  I've decided to keep Kerryon Johnson (4th Round) instead.

---

Kerryon Johnson (4th - 1st year)
Michael Thomas (8th - Franchise)
Tyreek Hill (14th - 3rd year)

(If this is allowed.  Not sure if it locks or if we can change up until the draft.)

Keepers locked a week ago and normally changes are only allowed in the event of injury. I allowed Seafood to surrender his rights to Gordon so that he wouldn't have to take him in the 1st round but he wasn't allowed to pick a new keeper.

On the site, you have to click on "Manage IR" on your team page above your roster and assign the player you want to move to IR.

On the app, you just have to click on "Edit Lineup" and move the play to IR.

It hasn't been disabled so it should work for you.

It's tough when you're trying to win a championship and your choices are Winston, Cousins, and Mayfield.

It's tough when you're trying to win a championship and your choices are Winston, Cousins, and Mayfield.

Winston was the #5 fantasy QB in ESPN this year. Kirk was ranked #9 going into last week.

I think I lost because my RB1 Dalvin Cook went out the week before, my RB2 Chris Carson went out during the Championship game, my WR1 DJ Chark was hurt, my WR2 Calvin Ridley went on IR 2 weeks ago, and one of my keepers JuJu was hurt the 2nd half of the season. Kinda tough to overcome that in a 2-3 week span at the end of the season.

I hope you believe me when I say that I’m not extremely butthurt that I lost.  I didn’t really think I had a chance to win due to my injuries - hence why I started Jameis over a lower floor guy like Kirk.  You were projected to win by 30 points before the week started.

i'm fine with changing DEF scoring....

I'm not fine with getting rid of QBs.

Why would we get rid of QBs?

Their scoring just needs to be altered.

Defensive scoring is garbage

How specifically do you want defensive scoring to change? I assume you're comfortable with 1 pt per sack and 2 pts per turnover but want to see points awarded for yards/points allowed adjusted.

QBs need to be nerfed

4 pts per passing TD?

I'm not on board with completely erasing keepers but, as with everything, that's open for discussion.

It's  "no keepers or bust" for me.  I've always hated keeper leagues.

So if you guys want to retain keepers (don't let me stop you), you can fold my team or find someone else to take it over.

I actually have no real qualms with the scoring but I don't like the keeper concept at all.

You want to run the league? Serious question, not being sarcastic.

You know...if i weren't running another league, i'd take this one over again (I originally started it while we were all still posting at TGG). I just don't have the time or patience to run 2 leagues.

Fair enough. I'm probably going to start a poll to get a consensus of how people feel about the keeper system. My preference would be to either keep it or narrow it for this season and then eliminate it entirely for next season if that's what people want.

I'm totally fine with getting rid of keepers, but I don't think it's fair to do it this year. I might have made different roster moves last season if I knew it weren't a keeper league. I'm sure a lot of rookies were drafted higher than they normally would have been because they could have potentially been franchised.

If people are going to quit the league over keepers, I don't care about it THAT much, but it seems like a weird thing to quit the league over.

i have no qualms about giving my team to someone else, if you want to continue using keepers.

Is there any rule saying you have to keep a certain amount of players? Can’t you just draft with a clean slate?

Pretty sure I can't keep Tyreek Hill again.

I'm fine if we make this the last year of keepers. I would just like to know ahead of time so I can draft and make FA signings that way. I'm sure people drafted rookies last year thinking they could be franchise keepers for them.

I prefer keepers and it is one of the reason I joined, but if the group decides against it, that is fine. I think it is fair for this to be the last year because some of us drafted with keepers in mind last year. I dont think I can keep Davante Adams for a 14th this year so there should be some talent in the pool.

Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill will be available this year.

I'm assuming a lot of other good options will be draftable as well.
