Terms: 3 years, $28.5 million, $17 million guaranteed.

I am very whelmed

So it's like a two year deal, probably?

Mentioned this last week, but I think he'll be a good fit in Gase's offense as a guy who can do a number of things and pick up yards after catch.

Not very happy with the cost though, and I'm sure Robby isn't either.

Wow, Humphries and Tate are gonna get PAID.

I do like JC in this offense and he's an efficient, prototype slot guy.
Now let's go get Bell and Paradis and Barr and Joyner and also Mosley.

Hopefully last year's health problems were outliers.

Crowder's six 100-yard games is equal to the career totals of Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa combined (5 for Robby, 1 for Enunwa)

Quote
Career 100-yard games

Jamison Crowder: 6
Adam Humphries: 2

Humphries' career high for receiving yards is 102, which Crowder has surpassed five times.

This in spite of the Buccaneers ranking 8th in pass attempts from 2015-18, and the Redskins ranking 19th.

Quote
Jamison Crowder has 9 red zone TDs in his career.

That's pretty solid for a slot WR (Golden Tate has 10 over same span), but it's only tied for 61st in the league since '15. Even so, it's still a lot better than what the Jets have had.

Robby has 3 red zone TDs. Enunwa has 1

For his career, Crowder is averaging 11.9 yards per reception on a 67.2% catch rate. The only other wide receivers (minimum 300 targets) since 2015 to average those numbers are Tyreek Hill, Keenan Allen, Doug Baldwin, and Adam Thielen.

Crowder can also return punts. Could mean the end of Andre Roberts.

Not according to Washington fans he can't. He has been used in that role but is apparently crap at it.

He was a very good punt returner at Duke! Not sure how good he was with Washington tbh.

I always thought he was good when he was healthy. He was overrated in fantasy football for a while, but as an actual NFL receiver, I thought he was a very quality slot guy.

Maccagnan has never made a deal for a non-premium FA that he couldn't get out of relatively easily. Even if it is a high AAV, I doubt this contract will ever really hurt.

#Jets WR Jamison Crowder signed a 3-year, $28.5m deal. That came with a $3m signing bonus.

Crowder cap hits:
19: $7m
20: $10m
21: $11.m

Crowder has his SB ($3m), 2019 base ($1.5m) and 2020 base ($8.5m) GTD. He has $500k each year tied to per-game roster bonuses.

Jets out in this deal comes in 2021. They can cut him for just a $1m hit (remaining SB), wiping out his $10m base & $500k left in per-game bonuses

Most of these these contracts have outs in 2021 so we can re-sign Jamal Adams for $50 million per year.

What's Woody gonna do with the savings? Recoup for the vaccines that had to be destroyed?

This kind of nonsense is why I don't like hearing people bitch guys should show up and not hold out because "a contract's a contract."

Douglas can use that extra money to extend Marcus Maye and potentially sign Morgan Moses.

It's an important restructure.

The owner doesn't pocket the extra cap money, it just rolls to the next season.  Woody wouldn't blink an eye to spend to the max if it meant having a winner.  He has a lot of faults, but being cheap with player spending isn't one of them.

There is never a good time to waste money.  You will always be robbing your future team.  $5 million not saved this year will be $5 million we won't have later when we (hopefully) need it to make a run.

Not sure if things have changed but the other day Cimini had mentioned that if we restructured Crowder we might be able to trade him.

Potentially a win win scenario depending on how guys look in camp and if crowder can go to a team where his future contract prospects increase (since obviously the Jets are a excrement place for any wideout wanting test FA next year)

Hell maybe crowder restructured with the goal of getting traded.

If they use the money, great. But this team has been rolling money forward for years.

I was like Badger, in that I thought just cutting him would be ridiculous. But I'll also be annoyed if they just cut his salary and don't use it elsewhere.

Unless his agents were telling him that his market was going to be minimal at best (a possibility given some of the low contracts we saw handed out to receivers during the regular free agent frenzy), why would he agree to a pay cut to not choose his next destination?

Crowder went on record (thru his agent) that he wasn't interested in entering the current FA market, and was comfortable playing out his contract with the Jets.

Well he's under contract with the Jets for starters who could have kept him, or waited to cut him (potentially not cutting him at all)

This instead guarantees he will get to test free agency. Not to mention odds are the teams who could trade for him will have far better passing offenses than the Jets.

According to OTC, we have the 2nd most cap space behind the Jaguars now. Projected to have the 3rd most next offseason.

If we legitimately feel like our CB room cannot be dramatically improved upon with a veteran, then this is an excellent position to be in going into next year. Coming off what should hopefully be a year of improvement with a lot of exciting young talent doing great things. We walk in with lots of money and lots of draft capital to work with in the offseason. It puts us in a position to have another strong offseason and then in 2022 we should be contending for the post-season and hopefully beyond should Wilson be the guy we all think he can be.
