Kawhi wants out of San Antonio, has LA at the top of his preferred destinations. Offseason craziness just beginning.

i dont see why lebron would goto the west, even with PG and kawhi theyre not beating the warriors. lakers would need to move significant pieces for kawhi, and i kind of doubt pop wants lonzo and his dad.

so you sign pg and trade half the team for kawhi, on top of doing whatever you need to do to get lebron(is it easier to sign him outright or for him to opt in and sign and trade? do the lakers have enough to get kawhi and lebron?)

so lets say you somehow do all that. now you're a team with no depth and 3 stars. worked in miami, sure. the warriors werent a thing then, though.
plus you need to deal with Houston on top of the warriors.

i just dont see it happening for all 3 of them. maybe kawhi, maybe lebron, maybe george, maybe you stretch and get 2, but 3 is too thin.

I just want Lebron to stay in the East long enough for another team besides his to become good enough to keep the Celtics out of the finals.

I don't think the Cousins signing is going to be as big as people are making it out to be. He basically just ensured a ring while he rehabs from a devastating injury. But he's still coming off said injury and this is not a guy that could have been characterized as a gym rat even before he tore his knee.

Their ring was predestined before the signing anyway. Which does speak to how much the league sucks.

Apparently if he does then his year will roll over and he misses out on FA next year.

someone must have explained to him how contracts worked

https://www.sportsnet.ca/basketball/nba/report-leonard-will-raptors-training-camp-play-next-season/

Quote
“His camp made it very clear over the past week, to the Raptors and other teams, that Leonard wanted no part of Toronto, sources say,” wrote ESPN’s Zach Lowe after news of the trade broke.

“The Raptors didn’t care. They know any threat of failing to report is probably empty, since they can fine Leonard for each practice and game he misses — up to his full $20.1 million salary.”

There was even one report that went so far to report that Leonard would entertain the notion of sitting out next season entirely.

Enter: ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, to pour a hefty dose of water on those flames.
....

“[Leonard’s] going to play, he’ll be at training camp. He’s healthy,” he continued. “What I was told is that he’s starting to warm to the idea. He’s going to a contender. He’s got a team that can be as good as anybody in the Eastern conference. Now it’s up to Toronto to try to recruit him and keep him.”

Hey, that's not fair. We're like the third most northern team in the league, and as of yesterday the most northern team left in the playoffs. WE THE NORTH BITCHES.

Also, while our fanbase may draw heavily from the Indian communities in the western GTA, we also extensively feature Asians from Richmond Hill and white dudes in suits from Yorkville, all of whom also believe in their ability to channel their inner black man. But it's an awful lot of fun, our crowds are brilliantly rowdy. All of those boys like to throw down $13 domestic tallboys.

i enjoyed your last post RE toronto. i was trying to get a rise out of you and thought you responded well.

after the last series i thought the sixers deserved it more and would have matched up better with the bucks/warriors than the raptors, but the raptors showed out this series and shut me/everybody up.

i hope the raptors win, i'm so tired/annoyed of the warriors. i don't think it'll happen but i'm hoping for it

Warriors played with no sense of urgency, were sloppy with shooting and passing, and spent all game focusing on trapping  kawhi. We got destroyed in the transition, just played slow all game.

Credit to the raptors for a great game threw the warriors right off.

17 turnovers is abysmal, sloppy.

Hopefully we get better refs the rest of the way, so touchy feely and inconsistent for both teams.

The only answer for him right now will involve giving Kawhi more room to play. Pascal had an amazing game but he was a beneficiary of the Warriors' defensive focus on Leonard.

I just want a good series and more games, get us closer to the Vegas season. I'm rooting for Toronto but if they lose I'll be over it seconds after changing the channel.

man, curry is GOOD. too bad nobody else on the warriors could drop a freaking bucket last night.

great series so far. friday should be something

Ya. KD confirmed out again, Klay confirmed available. No surprises either way.

After last night it sort of feels like the Raps are playing with house money, but it shouldn't and I hope they're not feeling that way.

I wouldnt expect everyone on the Warriors to be so bad again. That was embarrassing.

Everyone but curry played like crap, but pretty much everyone on toronto played well.

Vanvleet has figured out that the refs dont call excrement for curry, so hes elbowing the freak outta him to create space. And then he was able to hit from pretty much anywhere.

Lowry was hitting at the end, couldnt miss.

I will say though, we kept it close despite all that.

I dunno, I might expect Boogie to be that bad again. The dude looks like he can't jump, he was getting handled by Gasol and Ibaka at the post and I presume it's because he's still not quite recovered from his injury. 48 hours won't fix that.

Iggy's a great guy and a solid role player, but the Raps did a good job of limiting him to long range shots and he can have those all day long because he shoots 33% from the arc (game 2 notwithstanding).

Of course Klay brings a different dimension and opens the floor up so much for others, but I have total belief in the Raps' defense - they're now 4-1 against the Warriors this season and the whole "but the postseason is different" argument is kinda done with. My biggest concern is that I don't know if we can shoot as consistently as that for 2 more games.

Nav's an awesome guy. Never missed a home game, has courtside seats, spends hundreds of thousands a year on a bunch of extra season tickets that he just buys to give away to people in the community who otherwise wouldn't be able to afford to go to a game. He's the immigrant story everyone loves; came over here with virtually nothing, got a job selling cars, turned out to be incredibly good at it, bought his own dealership, is now a self made multimillionaire who loves his adopted country and gives a huge amount back to it.

I won't hear bad things about Nav.

Congrats to Toronto.

Everyone can go freak themselves now. Bring on the Knicks draft, free agency and Vegas.

The trophy hasn't even arrived in TO yet, and the Wizards are already trying to wine & dine Masai.

Maybe the Wpg Jets can hire Nick Nurse away from the Raps.

At least 75% of the league would hire Masai tomorrow if he was available. Washington is probably one of the least attractive options given their contract and roster situation.

I have a question for you so hopefully you're sober enough to type an answer.

Does Kawhi leave the Toronto Raptors?

Everything is awful. There is no sunshine anymore. Darkness only.

forreal tho, how did we go from an unstoppable dynasty to losing 2 of our top 3 to catastrophic injuries that changed everything this summer?

Durants achilles, gone for the next year and a fa.
Klays acl, gone for the next year and a fa.
Cousins was on a one and done, and he balled out in the finals.
Green is in a contract year.
Livingstone is probly gone.

The NBA rigged the finals and caused the injuries as punishment for LeBron playing like excrement in LA

Toronto managed to make a spectacular clusterfuck of the victory parade. They woefully underestimated the effect of the volume of people who went downtown, so the main square filled up very early and fans started tearing down fences so they could move into the blocked off media and security spaces as well as climbing up the big arches over the rink.

They also hadn't put in place proper crowd control along the route, so the buses couldn't manoeuvre properly without having a travelling phalanx of cops pushing the crowd back the entire way, which meant that the parade which was supposed to arrive at the main square at 12:30 got there just before 3pm.

As a result of this, the crowd were hot, tired and lacking energy by the time the players got there. The players had spent the entire five hours on the buses drinking champagne, so they were hammered. Marc Gasol was hilarious to watch. Then the various dignitaries, including the Mayor, the Provincial Premier and the Prime Minister all had to be part of the show. (Highlight of the day: the entire square of 60,000 people or more booing Doug Ford, the fat evil queynte who is Premier of Ontario, after he had already been snubbed backstage by Masai. You know you're a true piece of excrement when you get a worse reception than the CEOs of Rogers and Bell.) By the time they got to the actual main event, everyone was just exhausted and a lot of the excitement had gone.

Then, midway through an incredibly boring speech by Larry Tannenbaum, the CEO of MLSE, one of our local gangbangers decided to liven up proceedings by getting all shooty blasty with someone who had looked at him a bit funny and caused a minor stampede in which several people were injured, as well as the woman he'd actually shot. This led to a temporary suspension of proceedings on stage while he set off on foot to Yonge-Dundas Square a block away where there was a secondary victory celebration, and got into a gun battle with police causing a second stampede and the lockdown of our largest downtown shopping mall.

By this point everyone seemed generally sick of the whole business, Drake came on stage and promoted his festival instead of performing a couple of songs as everyone had been expecting, and the whole thing fizzled out as 1M+ people mingled with all of the downtown office workers and they all tried to figure out how they were going to get home at the same time.

We The Motherfucking North.
