Title: 2018 NFL Draft Thread
Post by: Libero_2 on April 26, 2018, 06:36:01 PM
Let's get this show on the road. We should have a new QB in the next hour or so.

No tipping picks.

Let's hope for some badass luck tonight fellas. The future of the franchise awaits

I think it's hilarious that the possible #1 overall pick isn't going to be there. ESPN doesn't even have a camera at his house. I don't know if anyone does.

Rapsheet:  The #Giants have been set on making the pick at No. 2. … Could they rethink it? I’m told the #Broncos are expected to explore trading up from No. 5 to No. 2. Possible early fireworks. QB would be the target.

I just hope they give up as much or more than the Jets gave up.

Could you imagine if the browns go Mayfield, Broncos go up for Allen, Jets get their choice of Rosen/Darnold?

The hard part is that we might think they got it right (or wrong) and nothing will matter for a long time.

All we can do is root for the guy no matter what.

Darnold
Rosen

everyone else.

I think Vita Vea is going to be way overdrafted. I love the guy and I think he'll be a hell of a player, but I don't see how you can draft a two down player in the top half of the first.

Trading up was definitely worth it. You can’t even question that now. I did when we originally made the trade but it’s certainly worth it now. Didn’t think Darnold would ever be there at 3
Could have sat at 6 and taken Rosen. The Jets gave up three 2nd-round picks.

Obviously, since we got Sam Darnold, it's hard to complain about it, but I think the optimal strategy would have been to stay at 6. I'm still happy with the end result.

Bills took Tremaine Edmunds

Making it even harder for Allen to succeed. Nice.

Instead of trying to restock an offense devoid of talent (and offensive lineman) they take a LB when their new QB needs every ounce of talent they can provide.

Edmunds is awesome, but he isn't going to help Allen reach his potential

I can't see them taking Jackson at 22. They want to win now and are missing loads of pieces. I assume 22 is a "dude" and at 31 they could take Jackson. But more likely, they don't go QB until later tomorrow, probably Faulk in the 3rd.

Tony Pauline can be right once, right?

I'd say the same about Rosen, mainly because he's come off as a whiny bitch since being picked.  If he was going to say he didn't care where he got drafted, then turn around and bitch about the teams that didn't draft him, well I'm glad he isn't here.

I don't really care about Mayfield too much as long as he doesn't try to become a celebrity more than a football player and annoy the excrement out of everyone off the field.  I wouldn't mind seeing the Browns have some good times for a change.  Then again, it's always nice to have that one franchise that sucks more than yours.

I want Allen to fail because he's with the Bills.

I love Guice, but I'm fine with Crowell, Powell and McGuire this year with Rawls competing for a spot if that's how it turns out.

Some guys I like...

RB Guice
OT Orlando Brown
OT Brian O'Neill
EDGE Lorenzo Carter
EDGE Josh Sweat
EDGE Arden Key
EDGE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
OG Tyrell Crosby

There are a few highly-rated corners out there, too, but I haven't studied them enough to have a firm opinion.

Passing on Guice would be almost as bad as passing on Cook. (I still like having Maye). Doubt he last to 72 though.

Rapoport:  Why is #LSU RB Derrius Guice sliding? Sources describe him as immature, high-maintenance. His visits did not go well. Some incidents in college teams found out about that were not reported.

I mean I get why that might turn some teams off, but I’m going with a guy like that 100% of the time over guys with injury/drug/criminal off the field issues.

I like both of them. If mayfield turns the Browns around he’s one of the best picks of all time. I’m fine with him being decent and the Browns continuing to be the Browns.

I know a Cardinals fan and he's both a smart football fan and a really nice guy, so I want Rosen to succeed. Also, David Johnson is my favourite non-Jet player to watch in the entire league.

Don't give a freak about Mayfield.

It's apparently a bad bone-on-bone. I'm not surprised he's still there.

It's sad because coming out of high school, it seemed like he would be a surefire 1st-round pick as long as he had any semblance of production.

He's apparently 23. I don't know why Maccagnan likes drafting older players every year, but it is what it is.

On the bright side, he dropkicks defenders in the open field.

That's utterly disgraceful. You hate to see defenders aiming for the knees and ankles like that.

Somebody catch me up here. Last I knew we were set to draft at 180 and it was like pick 170 or so.

What went down? I looked for new player threads, and don't see anybody aside from the trade for Henry Anderson.

We traded back twice with the Vikings and then drafted three players in the 6th round: CB Parry Nickerson, DL Foley Fatukasi, and RB Trenton Cannon.

That's awesome to get Nickerson, but I don't know anything about the other two. Anybody do any deep dives?

I hope Callaway gets caught selling pot to Mayfield.

Quinnen Williams makes a lot more sense with the switch to the 4-3, but drafting interior DL hasn’t gotten us anywhere recently. We also have much more of a need at DE, considering we don’t have any true starters there, and at DT we have Leo - $14M a year, Shep - 3rd rd pick, Fatukasi - 5th rd pick, Pennel.

Unless you’re far and away convinced that Q Williams is the BPA you need to draft at a more premium position. Interior DL is a luxury pick for this team

Say Bosa and Allen go 1 and 2. Quinnen Williams is quite arguably the BPA. I could totally see that scenario playing out. We would be getting a hell of a player, but I hope we go in another direction.

Obviously FA will dictate how we want to use the pick. If we somehow steal Demarcus Lawrence or Frank Clark and another capable starter, I wouldn’t hate drafting Williams depending on the board.

Wow and I thought I didn’t like Luke Falk before...

He knew.

We need him to be.

The two most important players for the 2020 Jets are Sam Darnold and Quinnen Williams. Both are young and talented enough where they can definitely be Pro Bowlers at their peaks. Is Quinnen going to be a rotational DL for his career? Or is he going to be a star worthy of a top-5 pick? If he can become that disruptive force we drafted him to be, everything changes defensively.

I’m 1000% confident in our D-Coordinator to get the most out of him this season. Guy made Nathan freaking Shepherd look like a player last season

And your guy Foley.

Foley and Shepherd both took big steps in their second seasons. Hopefully, Quinnen can do the same. Kyle Phillips, too.
