EDIT: just checked...they traded into the 2nd round to get him. hahahaha

Best collegiate kicker ever. He's MexiKowski

still crazy to spend a 2nd rounder on a kicker, but I think he'll be fine.

In 11-on-11 field goal work against the Browns, Aguayo stepped up and calmly missed his first attempt from what looked like 32 or 35 yards. Keep in mind there is no all-out attempt to block by the defense.

A fan yells “You can do it.”

Speaking during the Buccaneers' preseason finale on Thursday night, GM Jason Licht wouldn't guarantee that Jameis Winston will be the starter when he returns from suspension in Week 4.

"I don’t think it’s fair to say right now that he’s going to be the guy," said Licht. "[If] Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Griffin, whoever it is, is playing lights out, I don’t think it’s fair right now just to say, ‘Yes, automatically, [Jameis] is going to be the guy." This is textbook GM speak but it's still notable that Licht wouldn't unequivocally commit to Winston as the starter despite praising his performance during the preseason. Barring something truly miraculous from Fitzpatrick, Winston is almost certain to regain his starting job when he returns from suspension.

Good, freak Jameis Winston.  But we all know exactly how this is going to play out...

I really like Fitz. He seems like a class act, much like McCown. But I still can't wait for the FitzMagic to go FitzTragic.

Also, the Jets sold too low on Bridgewater. Had they held onto him until now, they'd probably have gotten a much better return.

I don't see what the rush was to get rid of him.

I don't see what the rush was to get rid of him.

I'm sure the idea was that they didn't want any sort of controversy situation. It's easy right now for everyone to be calm about Darnold progressing, but if Bridgewater was here right now, there would certainly be voices calling out for Teddy to play right now. Darnold is almost even with TDs and INTs.

Having only Uncle Josh behind him protects him from any standard ridiculous NY media controversies.

That doesn't mean it wouldn't have been better to hold onto Bridgewater to sell higher, but I'd assume that was the thinking.

I'm also good with that.

Maccagnan and Bowles tried really hard to sign Suh before he went to the Rams.

Williams needs someone to take some pressure off of him.  I have a hard time seeing Maccagnan trading one of his prized picks, but if someone send a quality offer, he might do it to get more weapons for Sam.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Antonio Brown tested positive for COVID-19.
All vaccinated players who test positive must return two negative tests, 24 hours apart before being allowed to return. It's also possible that Brown is out for more than just one week if his case is serious. With just four days until kickoff, it's unlikely that he'll be able to play in the Bucs' Week 3 game against the Rams. Tyler Johnson is next in line to play the WR3 role for Tampa Bay but he could split snaps with Scotty Miller. With Brown sidelined, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin will be in for a modest boost in target share and both come in as solid WR2 options.

Wonder if he's been around any old elderly men lately

Because the NFL and the Packers didn't bother enforcing it, but he didn't lie to the NFL about whether or not he had been vaccinated and that's apparently their line for acceptable (also being a star QB).

Please believe I'm not defending or endorsing what Rodgers did. He should face an actual punishment.

Isn’t he like 27-28?

I still maintain JD should call about Evans. He’s an elite receiver in his late 20s making peanuts comparatively to his peers as a player. I would absolutely do a swap of 27 and Evans for 10. Hell if push came to shove I’d do it for 10 straight up, but I’d try and get something back. If they want a shot at a young QB to start over with, 10 puts them in range for that. Evans would be the best WR we have fielded in a very very long time and he would be an outstanding guy to have in the locker room for Wilson and for Moore.

Why would you not just pursue Godwin and save your picks?

And I don't know how the restructure works on sportrac but Evans is due 46 million over the next 2 years. I imagine Tampa would have to eat a chunk of that, but if not, then he's not a bargain contract.

Regardless I'd very much be against this.

1. Evans is a better player than Godwin that comes with a skill set we don’t have on this roster. His career is currently on a HOF trajectory.
2. I said ideally we get a pick back, preferably 27. Essentially they trade Evans for a rookie qb to reset the roster with.
3. According to over the cap Evans cash payout is $14 million his cap charge to the Bucs is $20 million though. So for us, yes he sure as excrement is affordable. If we want a top WR, Evans is my #2 guy behind DK Metcalf, even though I don’t think either person is available

“I had a team at twenty-seven,” Cine said. “They know who they are. I aint gonna’ say no names. It was at twenty-seven. The whole process — if you’re there — we’re gonna pick you. They move down to the first pick of the second round. I’m like, damn, they did me just so dirty.”

I'm not gonna name names, but it rhymes with Fuckaneers.

Haitian dude from Texas who went to school in Georgia and thought he'd be working in Florida finds out he's going to be living in Minnesota.  I'd whine.  But I'm whiny.

I’ve never once understood why any team would guarantee a player he’s their pick outside of like the top 5. Absurd circumstances can happen at any time

Breaking: Rob Gronkowski tells me he’s retiring.

The future first ballot Hall of Famer won four Super Bowls while earning a spot on the NFL’s 100th Anniversary Team and 2010s All-Decade Team.

An all-time great officially hangs em up at 33 years old.

Report: The #Bucs to fire Offensive Coordinator Byron Leftwich.

The team had plans to fire Leftwich since their Bye week mid-season but Todd Bowles decided to keep him at the time, per @PewterReport

I don't think Bowles has kept an OC on staff longer than 1 season.

It's hilarious to me because Arians had been grooming Leftwich for a few seasons....Bowles comes in and fucks everything up, and now Leftwich is taking the fall.

I think he might be lucky to get an OC job, his one season without Arians holding his hand hasn't been good.

Always liked Leftwich. He was a tidy QB and always spoke pretty well. I especially liked that he always championed Chad when he was struggling they're both Marshall Alumni.

I'm glad he's away from that freaking snake Bowles. Bowles is a freaking fake and in my top three of worst ever Jet Head coaches.

This has always been the guy I have been targeting (as if I have anything to do with it) as a mid-season acquisition.

Hopefully Tampa starts slow and sends him our way for the Leonard Williams deal we got from the Giants a few years back.

Bucs first four games

@ Vikings
Bears
Eagles
@Saints

Would it really be surprising if they start 1-3 or 1-4? Fingers crossed Baker + Bowles is as big a disaster as possible

Does Evans have a connection to this team?

Barring am injury I'm not convinced we pursue a major wideout in a trade. Unless excrement in Vegas gets incredibly ugly, in which case I still imagine Adams coming here is highly unlikely

I read by the news this morning and got really excited, but then thought our competition could easily sign evans.  Who do you think is most likely to sign mike evans.  It seems like the bills and chiefs wouldn't have enough cap space but who really knows anymore with the fiscal gymnastics they do.

The Corey Davis retirement worries me a bit. I think our WRs are a little thin behind Wilson. I wouldn't mind trying to make a splash for another WR. I think Lazard is a better fit as like a 2A/2B target, which is why I liked the combo of him and Davis. Hardman seems like more of a gadget speed guy. Maybe he and Cobb can split the WR3 role, but Cobb's best days are behind him. The rest are UDFAs.

WR Mike Evans —who wants to finish his career a Tampa Bay Buc—gave the team a deadline of 9/9/23 to offer a contract extension. While the team values Evans, there are no plans for an extension at this time, per league sources.
