Title: The Legend Of Jameis Winston
Post by: Coach K on October 19, 2013, 06:42:43 PM
The next chapter is written in 15 minutes

im still scared about the fact FSU switching to Pruitt's 3-4 scheme is not a fit yet for our front 7.

and Jimbo Fisher's playcalling is either retarded or good. no middle ground.

that being said , itll be a great game.

we better use our stable of RB's to ram it down their throat and avoid a shootout

Jameis Winston is the anti Johnny Football. Was completely humble and thankful to his teammates post game.

Also he doesnt tweet Drake lyrics which is major bonus points.

He said swag, points deducted but he has plenty to give.

LOL.....this thread is almost in stalker status.

Nah, it started as a joke to how much hype he got before his first game.

Since hes quickly living up to it im riding it out.

Also  being a Noles fan since the Charlie Ward era I can say hes the best QB weve had since Ward.

In fact I would go as far to say that hes a top 5 qb in the country as a (RS) Freshman. and the only QB sniffing his performance this year is Marriotta .

I like what Johnny Football can do but the kid throws a ton of jump balls that will get picked off at the next level. I dont think thats even debatable.

Someone could easily call me bias, but I obviously see every FSU game living down here and Winston is as impressive of a college prospect as I can remember.

November 2.

I think Dorsett will be a huge loss, especially if they want to compete with FSU.

And I'm sorry but Morris is the epitome of mediocre.

the only thing I can say is  I think Golden is a good HC, but UM is about a year behind FSU as far as rebounding their respective programs.

then again the UM-FSU game is usually crazy regardless of how each program is playing. so time will tell.

I'll say this, Syracuse has allowed all of 3 points, the last two weeks and the only thing they are exceptionally good at is running the ball, the weakest part of the Noles game.

Clearly I have high hopes.. You heard it here first, SU will keep this game within 50.

I just read the NY Times article.  I guess most of the info is old news but I didn't follow the story as it unfolded.

Dude's cum is on the rape victim's clothes and the excrement was videotaped.  And there wasn't the slightest possibility of a conviction cuz GO NOLES.  What an utterly disgusting miscarriage of justice.

Yeah let's leave out the part that multiple dudes DNA was found in her and on her clothes , the fact she claimed she was drunk and then passed a breathalyzer with flying colors, the fact she and her friends had a Facebook group infamous for hooking up with student athletes, the fact her lawyer had Alumni ties to UF, there's a ton surrounding this story that wasn't leaked just to help the alleging victim. There's also the fact the "victim" flipped out when she found out Winston wouldn't dump his current girlfriend.

The only thing that was proven was this chick likes to freak student athletes. Nobody knows what happened that night. But you can have a kneejerk reaction if you'd like. Albeit severely delayed

I didn't exactly follow the case, because frankly I don't care much. But I did just read the article, and not a single mention of any of the things you just mentioned were in the article.

Regardless of the what you said being true or not, if the article is not lying, the police royally fucked up in refusing to investigate the allegation because a whole lot of stuff would have been uncovered in the first few days and then we probably would know. Also, as I'm sure you can understand, just because a girl like to freak dudes, athletes or otherwise, does not mean she is not capable of being raped.

Nobody but Winston his three buddies who got the girl in the cab and the girl (supposing she wasn't blackout drunk, which it sounds like she wasn't) knows what happened that night. But I will say Winston has taken his first step towards becoming the Next Ben Roethlisberger (at least in the public eye, if not in reality).

im not impying Winstons innocence. im asserting the NY Times piece is a slanted view on it in favor of the alleged victim. what does the state have to gain by smearing a college students reputation? i can assure you what i did say was all true and i knew it before the investigation even took place.

whats proven is that the Tallahassee Police Dept botched the whole thing and dragged their feet, leaving any further investigation questionable. Once the state got involved though, all bets were off. Its easier to point at documented evidence of the TPD shitting the bed and then assuming the worst, and its even better for the NY Times view count.

The States office has nothing to gain by going public with all the circumstantial evidence that pretty much only reinforces inaccuracies in the alleged victims testimonies. it would also sully the girls reputation publicly only drawing out more drama .

if the TPD didnt drop the ball, the truth woudve likely been found. but theres a lot more to the case than what is purported in the NY Times artice. all we know is the girl had sex with Winston, and other men within a small time frame. but i can assure you a the circumstantial evidence i presented that definitely muddy the waters and supply a motive to suggest something other than rape occurred, is true.

essentially, much like the ruling said, there's not enough evidence to prove rape, and the facts and evidence that could be used to discredit the possibility of rape were left un reported to save the alleged victim of any further affect on her personal life.

besides i compared him to Big Ben before the allegations, as stated earlier in the thread. but yeah "statewide conspiracy to save a football championship" plays better in the NY Times than "promiscuous college students testimony had various inaccuracies and she might have been raped?"

I hope so, moreso for his life after football. It's crazy to think this is the same person who filled a notebook up in middle school with passing schemes and philosophy on how to attack coverages

Honestly this most recent thing wouldn't be so bad if the NFL weren't exposed a week before and all his other bullshit.

Regardless, most FSU fans I know ate happy he's out the whole game.

If rather see the Noles take a loss if it leads to this kid growing up n realizing the opportunity he's slowly pissing away

Sure, but FSU fans don't care about that.  That's every frat boy's Saturday night.  Plus, they're willing to give up one game to look like decent human beings.  They're not willing to give up the guy's whole career.

You have to be kidding me.  He is getting suspended for standing on a table in a cafeteria, and yelling this?  Smart, no, immature, yes, but I don't get what everyone is so worked up over.  If it was the Chem student at the next table, this would be a non-issue.

Did he get suspended for the alleged rape?

It was offensive to a lot of people (more than likely female students) and he violated the code of conduct.

There are rumors on Reddit right now that he may have been expelled after an internal investigation was done.

He's obviously not being expelled for standing on a table in the student union yelling "freak Her Right in the hoo-ha!" Something else is going on here. They wouldn't expel a normal student for that, so they sure as excrement won't expel a guy who has made them as much money as Winston has for it.

If he did something else and that's coming on the heels of this, I could see it, but for vulgar language? Particularly that which has been repeated thousands of times since that meme came into existence is ridiculous, no matter what his moral standing actually is

"Jameis winstons rape accuser and her lawyer allegedly tried to extort 7 million from him before going to the media said it had to be rape because she would never sleep with a black boy"

Jameis Winston’s lawyer has fired off a letter to Florida State University … claiming the woman who accused his client of rape demanded $7 MILLION to buy her silence.

David Cornwell, the lawyer for the Heisman Trophy winner, sent a letter to FSU, saying Winston will fully cooperate with the University’s ongoing investigation into the handling of the rape charges. The alleged victim claims the University engaged in sexual discrimination by sweeping her claims under the rug to protect its prized athlete.

According to the letter — obtained by TMZ — the alleged victim’s lawyer, Patricia Carroll, demanded $7 MIL to settle her client’s claims against FSU and Winston, telling Cornwell, “If we settle, you will never hear from my client or me again — in the press or anywhere.”

Cornwell says he rejected her offer and 4 days later she went to the media.

Cornwell also says Carroll claimed her client’s sexual encounter had to be rape, because she would never sleep with a “black boy.” Fact is … the alleged victim’s boyfriend at the time was black. The criminal case fell apart, partly because the alleged victim had semen from 2 different men on her shorts.

Cornwell ends his letter to FSU by saying, “Mr. Winston will cooperate with the Investigation. He looks forward to clearing his name. But Mr. Winston will not walk into a honey trap. The Investigation must be a legitimate investigation.”

Despite a lack of cooperation, police eventually did find the identity of the second semen sample on the accuser’s shorts — an African American football player at a MAC school who originally attended Zephyrhills High School.

“[The accuser] acknowledged having sex with her boyfriend,” State Attorney Willie Meggs said. “But she wouldn’t tell me who her boyfriend was. Being a shrewd investigator, we found out, and we got his DNA.”

One would have to have a draft insurance policy first I would think, and I doubt he had one the December of his redshirt year when he allegedly raped the girl. Secondly I imagine that doesn't work, as I can't imagine you can borrow against your life insurance payout to buy a car, let alone a hush payment to a woman, so I can't imagine a draft insurance policy would be any different

You can borrow against some insurance policies actually. But it probably wouldn't apply to draft insurance and I also didn't realize the alleged rape happened so long ago. I just assumed it happened not too long before it came out.

I could be wrong, and K clearly would know more than I, but I'm pretty sure the alleged act took place in December of 2 years ago, as the "coverup" supposedly took place in months leading up to the "start" of Winston's career on the playing field. And it became public in like November-ish of last year.

I took some excrement for saying there was shady evidence left out to spare the accuser humiliation.

She was even part of a Facebook group infamous for sleeping with student athletes. Her lawyer had ties to UF alum etc etc.

You can now add extortion to the list.

TPD took excrement for dragging their feet, but the waters were muddied by both sides to begin with. The only real thing tgat could ever be proven Winston and the accusers boyfriend had sex with her within a short window. Another tidbit floating around at the time was the more they dug the less the accuser wanted to move forward and her father kept pushing for more info.

Winston has gone on to prove he is stupid and immature though. So here's to hoping he pulls his head from his derriere.

In the late evening of December 6, 2012 or the early morning of December 7, 2012, Chris Casher, Ron Darby, and I arrived at Potbelly’s. Many of my teammates were also at Potbelly’s. At some point, I noticed an attractive girl dancing on the dance floor. A few teammates and I started dancing as well and I worked my way over to this girl and made small talk with her as we started dancing together. I asked her for her name and she asked me for mine. I told her my name. She said her name was “(NAME REDACTED).” To the best of my recollection, (NAME REDACTED) and I danced together for approximately 10 minutes. When we finished dancing, we continued to talk and I asked (NAME REDACTED) for her telephone number. It was loud in Potbelly’s, so, rather than yelling her telephone number at me, (NAME REDACTED) took my cellular phone and entered her telephone number into my phone.

After (NAME REDACTED) entered her telephone number into my cell phone, we talked some more. I mentioned something about staying in touch or getting together later and then I went to mingle with my friends. Chris saw me talking to (NAME REDACTED) at the bar and told me he had already gotten (NAME REDACTED) number from (NAME REDACTED).

I did not buy (NAME REDACTED) a drink. I did not give (NAME REDACTED) a drink of any kind. I did not give her a shot of any kind. I did not give or offer to give any drugs to (NAME REDACTED).

Around the time Potbelly’s was closing, Chris, Ron and I left Potbelly’s and socialized in front of Potbelly’s. Chris and I thought that (NAME REDACTED) was interested in both of us. I decided to send (NAME REDACTED) a text message letting her know that I was leaving and asking her whether she was ready to leave. Given our prior interaction and her response, I believe that it was clear to (NAME REDACTED) that my intent with the text was to find out whether she wanted to leave and go home with me. (NAME REDACTED) replied to my text saying in substance that she was ready to leave and was coming outside.

Chris, Ron and I were standing next to a taxi cab when (NAME REDACTED) came outside and voluntarily walked over to us. I do not recall exactly what was said, but we made it clear that we were leaving and (NAME REDACTED) made it clear that she wanted to leave with us. Since Potbelly’s was closing, there were a bunch of students outside of Potbelly’s, around the outside bar, and there were a bunch of taxicabs parked at the curb in front of Potbelly’s.(NAME REDACTED) voluntarily left with us.

(NAME REDACTED) was not “taken,” forced, or “coerced” into the taxicab. She was fully aware of what was happening; she voluntarily left Potbelly’s in response to my text and she voluntarily got into the taxicab. If (NAME REDACTED) had protested, then I would have left her at Potbelly’s. Additionally, if she had protested, the students and taxi cab drivers in front of Potbelly’s would have heard her. (NAME REDACTED) was fully aware of her actions and she did not protest at all. (NAME REDACTED) left with us voluntarily.

The taxi cab ride to my apartment took roughly five minutes. During the ride, everyone was cheerful and talking. We asked (NAME REDACTED) if she had any friends who might want to come to our place and join us. I recall that she was calling some friends to come to our apartment.

Chris and I lived together in an apartment on the first floor of the Legacy Suites. After we arrived, (NAME REDACTED), Chris, Ron, and I went into my apartment.

Almost immediately upon our arrival, (NAME REDACTED) and I went into my bedroom. We were standing facing each other, kissing and touching each other’s bodies. I eventually asked (NAME REDACTED) if she would perform oral sex on me. She said that she would. The lights in my bedroom were on and (NAME REDACTED) willingly performed oral sex on me. While (NAME REDACTED) was performing oral sex, I was close enough to my dresser to reach over to it, open a drawer, and retrieve a condom.

(NAME REDACTED) and I also engaged in intense foreplay and heavy petting during the same period that she was performing oral sex. I was with her on the bed during foreplay and I may have ejaculated a small amount of semen onto her clothing. (NAME REDACTED) assisted me in putting on the condom. I stood on the floor with (NAME REDACTED) on the bed and we engaged in consensual sexual intercourse. After sometime in this position, we changed positions. I got on my bed on my back and (NAME REDACTED) got on top of me. (NAME REDACTED) conduct and other verbal expressions left no doubt that our sex was consensual.

I recall hearing Chris and Ron outside of my room. The door to my room was broken so the door could not close fully or be locked. At some point, Chris came into the room. (NAME REDACTED), who was still on top of me, saw Chris and told him to get out of the room.

Chris left voluntarily. Chris did not tell me to stop having sex with (NAME REDACTED). Chris did not do or say anything to try to persuade me to stop having sex with (NAME REDACTED). (NAME REDACTED) did not do or say anything to Chris to express or indicate that she was being forced to have sex with me. In fact, after Chris left the room, (NAME REDACTED) got up to close the door completely. I told her that the door was broken and did not close all of the way or lock. (NAME REDACTED) then turned the lights off and returned to me.

Thereafter, either Ron or Chris pushed the door open as a prank. (NAME REDACTED) asked me if there was any way we could have more privacy. I took her into my bathroom. While in the bathroom, we began to have consensual sex again and eventually concluded having sex. After we finished having sex, we stayed in the bathroom for a few minutes talking and she then indicated that she was ready to leave.

(NAME REDACTED) dressed herself. While she was dressing, I asked (NAME REDACTED) where she lived and she told me that her place was not far from mine. I also got dressed and we left my apartment and got on my scooter. (NAME REDACTED) sat behind me on the scooter and wrapped her arms around my waist. After a short ride, perhaps three to five minutes, we arrived at the curb in front of Salley Hall. When I stopped at the curb, (NAME REDACTED) got off the scooter, gave me a hug, and walked through the Salley Hall walkway to her dorm, Kellum Hall.

Other than asking Chris to leave the room, (NAME REDACTED) did not say or do anything to express or indicate that she was upset about anything that occurred before, during, or after consensual sexual activities. From the time I met (NAME REDACTED) at Potbelly’s to the time that I dropped her off at her dormitory, (NAME REDACTED) was fully aware of her surroundings and in control of all of her faculties. She was responsive and communicative. She had a pleasant personality and was fun to be with. During our consensual sexual interactions, (NAME REDACTED) engaged in sexual talk and took other actions that made it clear that the sex was consensual and that she was enjoying having sex with me. If (NAME REDACTED) did not want to have oral sex or intercourse with me, she was fully capable of expressing it to me, the taxicab drivers, the numerous students outside of Potbelly’s, Chris, and/or Ron. Had she done so, I would have stopped immediately.

The chances that Jameis wrote that are equal to the Jets playoff chances this year.  Pretty funny.

Obviously lawyers write these things for their clients, but they might as well just say "my client" instead of "I" in the wording.

I had to write something like that back in college for my buddy's arbitration when he got suspended from work for beating up a coworker. I was tasked because I'm the only one of my friends who actually gave a excrement in school, and who has a diploma. Had to write things like "then he proceeded to spit on my face, so I attempted to keep him at a distance by pinning his shoulders to the wall." I wish I still had that.

my lawyer edited it and it was like 3 times as long and wasnt close to what i said.

If we could put aside his off-the-field issues for a minute (everyone is aware of that), what are Winston's pros and cons regarding his play on the field?  Maybe some of the draftier people can chime in.  I know he is polarizing, but try to be fair both ways.

Jameis maintains a GPA above 3.0 at FSU, is part of the ACC all academic football team, and graduated high school with a 4.0.

I'm not not saying that's impressive since he probably has plenty of 'help' but the narrative that Jameis iz dumb is an overplayed one.  He's an easy target because of the way he talks and acts out immaturely.

I think you could be right but by the time the draft comes around the Jets are going to have to declare their interest and we will probably get raped to jump up and get him. We can't be sitting on our pick waiting for our hopes to be crushed.

With the raiders in the mix you have no idea how their going to go - they could have Andrew Luck at QB and still pick the top QB prospect!

As much as I've spoken ill of young Jameis, I really have taken a different tone in terms of how I view him over the past couple months. He still has the same issues in regards to his decision making that we've talked about for a year and change, but I do think that he's got the attitude (and ability) to be a good nfl player.

I was more frustrated with the ridiculous claims that he was a Luck level guy and some super can't miss prospect. He's not, but he's as good a QB as there is in the class. In this draft with a lack of true stand out "elite" talent, he belongs up towards the top. It also made me very uncomfortable to dislike him, as I've never disliked a Florida state prospect before. They're all studs, even fake running backs like Karlos Williams.

I loved those drills/mini-games.  My friend and I used to take turns trying to get the Gold reward on each one.  I think that drill got you Steve Young.

The DB drill to get Prime Time was the most difficult because you had to intercept every pass to get Gold.

Quote
In assessing whether to charge Winston, any prosecutor has to reckon with two parallel stories that manage to correspond neatly and completely contradict each other at the same time.

The young woman’s story is dominated by impairment. Read the accounts she gave and those the officers took down the night of the alleged rape. Impairment is everything. She later told friends that she thought she hit her head at a party causing her to black out. Impairment caused her to leave Potbelly’s with Winston and his friends. Impairment led her to wake up into a rape. Impairment made it impossible to fight off the rapist. The impairment began and overwhelmed her while inside the bar at Potbelly’s. That’s crucial.

Her core narrative suggests someone gave her a roofie — or some equivalent — and then herded her into a cab when she was out of it. Then the rapist had his way with her back at his apartment. If you believe the rape happened, if you believe the young woman, this is the scenario you have to accept.

There’s one other hugely important element. At some point during the alleged rape, a young black man comes into the room where it’s happening to tell the rapist to stop — at which point the rapist moves to the bathroom to finish the rape.

That’s the core of the young woman’s story. Here’s the key excerpt from what she told the responding FSU police officer just 90 minutes or so after she said the rape occurred.

“After she consumed the shot she stated she couldn’t remember what happen [cq] next. She thinks she got into a cab with someone because they asked to see her student ID. The [accuser] stated she blacked out after that. The next thing she was able to recall was waking up on the floor of someone’s apartment. She knew she wasn’t at Potbelly’s but she couldn’t tell me exactly where she was. The next thing she remembered was being on a bed and a black male having penis to vagina intercourse with her. She stated she saw the door and another black male with dreads in his hair stand in the doorway while telling the other black male to stop what he was doing. The [accuser] stated she told the black male to stop but he replied it would be OK.”

People have discussed some inconsistencies and blank spots in her story. But, really, she told the guts of it pretty consistently in the documents I read.
FSU campus police got the call reporting the rape at 3:22 a.m. The incident itself seems to have occurred between 1:30 and 3. Police took the young woman straight to the hospital and underwent a rape kit about 4:40 a.m. That included drug and alcohol screenings. So the famous delay/suspension in investigating the case did not remotely apply to collection of physical evidence or to taking victim statements in the immediate aftermath. That’s also crucial.

The football players’ story: No impairment; no good samaritan; and Casher does the violating

And here is Winston’s story, as told by fellow FSU players Chris Casher and Ronald Darby. On advice of counsel, Winston has never talked about what happened. (Let me tell you clearly: I would not either. And were I his lawyer, I wouldn’t let my client talk — even if I was totally convinced of his innocence. Nor would I let Winston anywhere near the Title IX hearing they’ve scheduled for him.)
The accuser and her friends ran into Winston, Casher, and Darby at Potbelly’s. I saw no evidence in the record that they knew each other prior to this night.
Casher and Winston both flirted with the accuser; both get her phone number. Casher and Darby both said in sworn statements that the accuser seemed very interested in Winston and was eager to leave with the three men. Neither said she seemed impaired.

Here’s Casher’s statement about intoxication and leaving the bar:
“When Jameis Winston, Ronald Darby, and I decided to leave Potbelly’s the same blonde female that gave me her telephone number followed us out of the club. This same female wanted to leave with us in the cab and virtually invited herself. She was not intoxicated. She was able to have a conversation with us. She was not slurring or stumbling. She was using her cell phone to try and invite her friends to join us.”

Darby said the same thing with less detail.
Casher and Darby both said the young woman and Winston went straight to his room upon arriving at Legacy Suites apartments where they lived and quickly began having sex. How do they know? Because like the young woman, they both say there was an interruption. But it wasn’t an unknown samaritan saying stop, as the woman reported. It was Casher. This is how he described what he did and saw.

“Since the door was partially open, I looked through the opening and we could see her giving Jameis oral sex. They had only been in the room a few minutes before I witnessed her giving him oral sex. Jameis was facing the door with his hands on his hips while she was in front of him on her knees. I witnessed them both take each other’s clothes off and lay on the bed. Jameis and the blonde female began having intercourse. As a joke, I busted into the room to embarrass Jameis. The girl yelled at me, “get out”. She got up off the bed and turned off the light and tried to close the door. I could hear them continuing to have sex. She never indicated that she was not a willing participant. From what I saw she was a more than willing participant.”

In subsequent interviews, including one without a lawyer, Casher admitted trying to tape Winston and the woman with a cell phone and perhaps trying to see if he could join them. Neither Casher nor Darby’s statement indicates what Winston did or said when Casher came in — other than not inviting him to join. There’s just nothing.

In any event, there is your violation. It’s a real one, a humiliating one. Casher had a Title IX disciplinary hearing for it in May and got a year’s probation and one-game suspension. So the school accepts that this happened. Jimbo Fisher must accept that it happened.

So when Jimbo says, “I don’t want a victim to anything, but there is not a victim because there was no crime,” he’s clearly wrong.

I understand why he said it because he’s thinking about Winston. But I don’t believe anyone can say the young woman wasn’t victimized if Casher’s story is true. If you support Winston and believe Casher’s story, you must acknowledge that a set of circumstances and acts involving FSU football players violated and likely humiliated this young woman. The attempt to tape is almost certainly some level of crime. And Casher, it seems to me, is very lucky that he got off with what he did.

The problem for the young woman is that I see no indication that she acknowledges this violation happened. In fact her lawyer was very careful not to say anything about Casher after his Title IX hearing in May. I have searched and searched for any indication that she or her lawyers have ever acknowledged or condemned Casher’s story or behavior. I can’t find it. That isn’t to say it doesn’t exist. I just can’t find it. If you see it somewhere, please let me know.

The player stories and the woman’s story converge again when Winston gives her a ride home on his scooter. It seems likely the entire period at Winston’s apartment lasted less than an hour.

The young woman’s friends and physical evidence demolish her account of impairment

Thus, to decide that Winston raped this young woman based on her story, you have to believe her account of impairment. That also means you have to decide who tells a more credible story — her or the players.

Fortunately, you have help. You have her friends; and you have the very prompt toxicology screenings performed as part of the rape kit which was taken at 4:41 a.m. The rape/sex is thought to have occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m., according to the reports.

The blood results showed no trace of any drug. She WAS NOT ROOFIED.
Her blood alcohol at 4:41 or so was .04. That’s half the legal limit for someone over 21 to drive.

Check out this line from the Florida DMV for context:
“Florida has a Zero Tolerance law for drivers under 21. This means that any driver under 21 that is stopped by law enforcement and has a blood alcohol level of .02 or higher will automatically have their Florida drivers license suspended for 6 months. The .02 limit really means that you cannot have a single drink and drive. And that’s the idea.” [My emphasis.]

The accuser is at .048 within two hours of the rape. To repeat, with her blood alcohol level two hours after the rape, the police would allow me to drive. And it wouldn’t be a close call.

Police officers talking to her at the hospital described her as “slightly upset and clearly able to communicate.”

In an incredibly telling detail I saw in the reports, lawyers for the young woman asked FDLE to reconfirm that the blood it checked was actually hers. They didn’t believe the results. And you can’t blame that on a Jameis conspiracy, because the accuser didn’t identify him until several days after her blood was collected.
OK, maybe the young woman has a weird metabolism that causes sudden spikes in impairment that go away just as quickly. And let’s grant that a rape would sober anyone. BAC and drug screenings produce abstract numbers. Let’s look at the visceral instead.

Let’s see what her friends told police about the period of time at the barwhen the accuser says she became impaired. It’s worth noting these statements came after the case was reopened during the 2013 season. Monique Kessler actually conferred with the accuser’s attorney before giving her statement, which proves very damaging to accuser’s story. Marcus Jordan told police he needed to confer with the accuser’s attorney; but I don’t know if he did. Here’s what both said about their friend’s impairment at the bar and at the time of her departure with the players.

Marcus Jordan:
Marcus recalled seeing [the accuser] around 11:30 p.m. and she was “drunk” but was not “that girl” drunk. He said it was not like she needed to go home. He said, “she was just like, happy.”

Monique Kessler
“Monique said she and [the accuser] continued to drink a little more but never got to a level where she felt they were intoxicated. She said [the accuser] did not seem drunk and “we all seemed fine.” At one point, [the accuser] showed Monique her phone and there was a text on it that said “meet me out front”. Monique knew the number was not programmed in [the accuser’s] phone because the number appeared in the display bar instead of a name that would be saved with it. [The accuser] looked at Monique and asked “should I go?” Monique replied, “you can go” and “within a few seconds” [the accuser] was gone…
“…Monique described [the accuser] as a person that does not consume a lot of alcohol. The night of the incident she recalled [the accuser] being fine and that’s why she was OK letting her go when she received the text.”

Both accounts are easily reconciled with those of Casher and Darby. They seem impossible to reconcile with this:
“After she consumed the shot she stated she couldn’t remember what happen [cq] next. She thinks she got into a cab with someone because they asked to see her student ID. The [accuser] stated she blacked out after that. The next thing she was able to recall was waking up on the floor of someone’s apartment.”
According to Google maps, Potbelly’s is 2 miles from Legacy Suites. A seven minute cab ride — six without traffic. When does this wave of impairment hit the accuser? No one but her ever saw it.

Here’s one other really important inferential point. I’m trying to avoid making inferential points, but I think it’s vital to make this one:
In reporting the rape, the accuser told at least two friends who were not with her at the bar that she might have been hit on the head at a party. One of them reported that she rubbed her head. That idea — a concussion-type event — sort of falls away into general impairment over the course of the investigation and morphs into the suggestion of a roofie. So here’s my inferential point: If you were reporting a rape based on impairment, and you knew friends and witnesses had seen you not impaired, how might you account for a sudden impairment?
Just mull that answer on your own. It’s not proof of anything. But she blames both a shot and a blow to the head for the impairment. We know the blow to the head didn’t happen because she had no outward injuries; and she didn’t report it to the doctor who examined her shortly after the rape.

Not meaningfully impaired
The totality of the physical and eyewitness evidence says clearly to me that the young woman is not telling the truth about her impairment. She was probably legally drunk, from a DUI point-of-view. But that’s not close to what she describes. Perhaps you can look at the data and come to a different conclusion. My conscience won’t let me.

Non-impairment does insurmountable damage to the young woman’s case on two levels:
1) Non-impairment completely eviscerates that fact record of her own story. Completely. You would have to start over again and come up with a different scenario.
2) It destroys her credibility as a witness in general and causes me to give much greater credence to Casher and Darby. If Casher’s account is true, Jameis Winston is legally guilty of nothing more than transactional sex with a willing partner and some caddish callousness. That’s nowhere near a crime.

For me, the issue is less whether he is actually guilty of rape or not (although obviously if he was that would be a huge issue) as I don't think we'll ever know for sure, but more that he's not sufficiently intelligent to recognise the risks that getting himself into such a situation represent to someone in his position. Again, it's a maturity and responsibility thing.

How mature are we really expecting college aged guys to be? If you're banging a lot of chicks you're bound to come across a few crazies, or even one that would call rape. Law of averages I guess.

Plenty of high profile guys make it through College without getting accused of rape. I don't think you can just brush it off that easily.

If you're the highest profile college athlete in the land you need to be aware of your situation. That he gave no thought to the risk of he and two of his teammates taking home a girl on her own and banging her shows a colossal lack of awareness and/or intelligence. Add that to the shoplifting and everything else and he's bad news for an NFL franchise, IMO. He might very well turn out to be a great player but the risk of bust is too high for me.

This has nothing to do with maturity.  The other stuff he did was immature and I didn't really have issues with any of it.

this incident occurred before he was starting QB at FSU. he was a highly lauded recruit though, and your point still stands.

Former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, who is projected to be the first overall selection in the NFL draft, said during an appearance on ESPN's Draft Academy that he never stole crab legs last year and that they instead were given to him by a grocery store employee.

The former Heisman Trophy winner was issued a civil citation for shoplifting on April 29, 2014, after he walked out of a Tallahassee, Florida, supermarket without paying for $32 worth of crab legs and crawfish.

"How I'm supposed to handle, like, if I just got them for free? I just say, 'I just messed up?'" Winston asked Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh during ESPN's Draft Academy, which aired Tuesday night but was taped before the NFL scouting combine in February.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said Jameis Winston's comment about receiving free food at a grocery store "was totally news to me" and was confident that it was an isolated incident. Rob Tringali for ESPN
When asked by Harbaugh to elaborate on the incident, Winston said it wasn't the first time he had gotten free food from an individual working at that store.

"Well, a week before, it was my buddy's birthday and we had got a cake. And we met a dude that worked inside Publix and he said, 'Hey, anytime you come in here, I got you.' So that day we just walked out and he hooked us up with that," Winston said.

"And when I came in to get crab legs, I did the same thing and he just gave them to me and I walked out. And someone from inside the store had told the security that I didn't pay for them. And that's how the whole thing started."

Asked during the ACC spring teleconference Wednesday about Winston's comments, FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said "it was totally news to me" and that the Seminoles' compliance department was looking into the matter.

"If he says it is, I guess it is," Fisher said of Winston. "I had no knowledge of it until I came in this morning. But FSU, we did make contact with Publix back then to make sure there was nothing going on."

Fisher was confident that the Winston incident was an isolated one.

"(FSU's compliance department) had communication about that before and have had communications today, and they think it's certainly an isolated incident that happened. They're in the process with working with it right now, so I don't think it's anything else more than that."

Shocker. Still dumb on his part, it's just annoying when people say "crab legs!!" as part of that narrative that he's a criminal mastermind.

Did you watch it?  Jim Harbaugh asked him to talk about his troubles or run-ins with the police.  He didn't mention the Publix incident or the rape accusations.  He only talked about getting in trouble for having a BB gun on campus.  And then the cafeteria incident.  Harbaugh asked him why he'd do something like that and if he was a sex addict.  It was weird as hell.

It's almost like Winston is delusional though.  Basically everyone that pays attention to football knows about his problems off the field.  Why try to deny it when cameras are on you?

Jedd Fisch called him out for not bringing up the crab legs story and he got all defensive.

It was on last night.  It was just a really weird scene to me.

Winston talked about the cafeteria thing like it wasn't that big of a deal (and I don't think it is), but when Jedd Fisch told Harbaugh what he actually said "FHRITP", Harbaugh became kind of pissed and asked him why he'd do something like that.

Then he asked him if he'd ever been in trouble with police and he only talked about the BB gun.  Fisch stopped him and was basically like:  No, Jameis.  Everyone knows about the crab legs.  Why did you not bring that up?  Coaches have done plenty of research on you.  Even if it's not what it seems, you need to address.

Winston tried to act like he didn't do anything wrong at first, then went back to it.

I can see why the FHRITP story would upset harbaugh. he probably has never seen the Internet video, and knowing everything else he does about Jameis it seems really inappropriate out of context.

he needs to do a better job when talking about his past, for sure. He's pretty reluctant to talk about it other than to say he's changed and learned from his mistakes (canned response).

in regards to the rape and the rape only, I'm not sure what he should say.  he was found innocent of any wrongdoing by the court and his university's code of conduct board. You can disagree with those institution's decisions, but if Jameis says he did something wrong here, doesn't that implicate that he was actually guilty?

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston will not make a personal visit with the Jets, Dom Cosentino of NJ.com reported on Wednesday morning.

It had previously been reported that Winston would stop by the team facility in Florham Park, N.J. However, the two could not find a date that worked for both sides with the draft only eight days away. That's the only reason the pre-draft visit will not happen, Cosentino says.

This is not a big deal because it's unlikely Winston will last until when the Jets pick at No. 6. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to select him with the top overall pick, and even if the pass on him, he will probably not make it out of the top five.

First-year Jets coach Todd Bowles has said he wants to pick up another quarterback. The Jets currently have Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Matt Simms at that position, though none of the three have secured the starting spot. It appears there is a good chance New York would draft Oregon's Marcus Mariota if the first five teams on the clock do not select him.

GM Mike Maccagnan & Co. have demonstrated interest in Garrett Grayson (Colorado State), Bryce Petty (Baylor) and Brett Hundley (UCLA). They should all last beyond the first round and are potential options for Gang Green.

I don't expect him to ever say anything about the rape. But did he really think that some random employee telling him he could just take excrement was legit?

The entitlement and refusal to acknowledge that he knew walking into a store and taking something without paying was wrong bothers me.

Had a friend with a stolen liquor business operating out of his trunk.  Another friend and I would keep watch and he'd steal 4 or 5 bottles at a time before they put those freaking sensor things on the top.  We would go from grocery store to grocery store to stock up and then sell at school.  He eventually got caught because of root beer schnapps.  Kids at my high school freaking love root beer schnapps, and it's pretty easy to notice when that keeps going missing.

Just pointing out the absurdity of those who think they know enough about the case from the media coverage to make an informed decision about guilt or innocence. Sorry if you'd prefer the JO standard of groupthink.

I'm not disputing that that part of this whole thing was consensual.  Just because she blew him, doesn't mean she wanted him to freak her on a bathroom floor.

And it's become a lot harder to believe him lately.  He's clearly lying about the crab legs to cover his derriere.  This is a lot more serious.

Every poster in this thread that received stolen property got caught stealing on surveillance cameras and lied to the police and the general public about what happened?

It's not the same.  No one in this thread was even close to being in the same type of situation that Winston was in.  He is under a microscope.  I'm sure most people would refuse to rat and make something up to the police, but this isn't what he's doing now.

He was surrounded by cameras and came up with a completely different story.  It's a definite character red flag to put in a pile with the others.

The shoplifting/receiving benefits and the cafeteria incident don't even really bother me, as I've said multiple times in this thread.  The way that he's handled the criticism bothers me.  He acts as if he is not at fault for anything.  He could very well be like that with everything.

Now we have no idea which story is the truth, but it's not a red flag if he's now telling the truth instead of holding on to another story he came up with after he screwed up initially.

His problem all along has been with making the right decisions, on and off the field. That's been the case for two years. He desperately needs real structure, not Jimbo's playhouse.

The red flag to me is that he withheld the information when Harbaugh asked him about it.  When Fisch asked him about it, he basically said he didn't bring it up because it wasn't his fault.

It doesn't matter to me if he accepted the seafood or decided to walk out without paying on his own.  It's a minor offense that an everyday person could make, which is apparent in this thread.  My issue is that he's wrong either way and he doesn't think he is.

It's been the case for his entire career at Florida State.  He didn't just become that way as soon as he set foot in Tallahassee.  He's probably received preferential treatment for most of his life because of how talented he is.

It's really more of a "he's guilty" vs "nobody knows" thing.

I don't know anything for sure about his guilt or his handling of this whole situation. I do know he's made clear mistakes and that he needs better people around him guiding him than he's gotten throughout his life to this point, as E just pointed out.

Bucs QB Jameis Winston's three-year trend on passer rating is encouraging: 84.2 as rookie, 86.1 in 2016, 92.2 this year. Took a step back in QBR, which includes his fumbles in its calculations. Completion percentage has gone 58.3/60.8/63.8 in his three NFL seasons.

Still a very flawed QB, but at least he’s showing signs of progression.
