Officially, Tom Brady says he’s no longer a member of the #Patriots.
-
bask in it
-
May the dancing on the grave of the Patriots commence please.
Here’s to perrenial 6-10 to 8-8 seasons for those fuckers for the next 100 years
-
It's weird. I obviously hope he and NE both fall off a cliff, but there's a part of me that would like to see Brady play well and NE eat excrement. I guess I hate the Pats more than Brady. Still hate them both though.
-
Absolutely love that Bardy's last pass as a Patriot is a pick 6.

If he went to Miami then got coronavirus I'd be pretty amused

Wonder who the new QB there will be. My money is on a scrappy, smart white guy.
-
I hope he dies doing something that he loves, he has a heart attack while Giselle is pounding him in the derriere with her horse rooster. While Kraft has a stroke because some 90 year old Asian broad gave him a wax job.

Damn, thought it would never happen.
-
According to PFF they think he could go to Miami.
While it would be highly entertaining, it would be extraordinarily freaking questionable for all parties
-
Wanting Brady to leave has nothing to do with the Jets. Pats fans never getting the satisfaction of a TB12 farewell tour and always having to remember the nearly 2 decade long run ending like this is what I want.
Didn’t think about it til now, but so thankful for this
-

That wouldn't be entertaining in the slightest.

Let him. Their pitch has to be the following, we will use all of our draft capital to upgrade the offense to give you weapons and protection. Assuming Brady plays two years, all of the capital the fish built up by tearing it to the ground will have been used by the time Brady hangs them up and they won’t have any ammo to trade up for an elite QB prospect. The fins have improved, but they aren’t ready to win a ring, even if Brady is vintage Brady, rather than what he likely has left.
So yeah I’m all for the Fins making that move
-
That wouldn't be entertaining in the slightest.
A washed up highly overpaid Brady playing for the worst team in our division? It basically guarantees he misses the playoffs, gives us a serviceable chance at beating Brady 4 more times, and throws major dirt on the Patriots as him going to a divisional rival is a complete freak you to them.
It would be worse for them than what the queynte Revis did (with the exception that Brady won't actually win anything in Miami)
-
A washed up highly overpaid Brady playing for the worst team in our division?
You may have missed the fact that they have vast amounts of money to spend in FA and a excrement ton of draft picks. With a good offseason they could get very good very quickly with him under center.
Get that freak out of the division.

If Miami wants to go all in on win now with a QB who will be 43 before opening day, I'd welcome it with open arms.
And giving Brady 60+ million over 2 years won't do their cap situation any favors
The Jets aren't going to be a legit contender under Adam Gase this year anyway..I believe Miami signing Brady increases the odds Darnold wins the division in the next 2 to 3 years. Because even if Brady is mediocre this year, I have zero worries about a 44 year old QB playing at a high level.
-

I stand by the only way Brady would agree to go there is if the Dolphins agreed to not draft a first round QB for two years (thus wasting valuable capital that could help them win now). So if they make that deal, I’d probably be for letting them have Brady’s corpse for 18 months
-

I don't believe that
If Brady signs a 2 year 60 + million deal he's starting for two years. They have plenty of picks to go win now even if they draft a qb with their first one
-
i'm still trying to wrap my head around how Miami managed to kickstart a successful rebuild....and we've failed like 3x in the last decade.
-

I’m saying the only way to convince Brady to go there is by saying they will pour every available resource, including all their top picks into winning now. Not whether it’s feasible to win without doing so or not.
-

Successful from a PR standpoint yet, but from an on the field standpoint, I'm not so sure about that. They're splurging on mediocre talent when they don't have a quarterback.
-

This.
Byron Jones at least is an overpay I think you can rationalize when you consider what they're going to ask him to do.
Van Noy's contract is absurd, this team still has no young quarterback, and just as importantly even if they get a young quarterback, they have absolutely nothing on the offensive line to speak of to keep said young quarterback upright. Erick Flowers? Lmao.
-

They have enough draft picks to draft whichever QB they want (not named Burrow). They have enough picks this year to significantly improve in other areas as well.
They also beat us last year, and if not for the refs, they would've swept us.
-

I get that
I'm saying that they have enoguh picks to go win now to satisfy Brady, even if they decide to draft a QB.
And Brady might be okay with that because I imagine him going to Miami would be about sticking it to BB

Brady will get absolutely destroyed behind that offensive line. He'll take the beating of his life.

They do however have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds. And if they decide to truly go win now, they'll have plenty of options
-

He won't. People say this all the time and he never does because since he came back from the knee injury in 08 he has been the best in the league at reading pressure, getting the ball out quick, and giving himself up before contact.
-

The Patriots offensive line was mediocre last year and that still presents a huge upgrade over what the Dolphins (and Chargers for that matter) are currently trotting out.

I guess they will just go with Stidham on the cheap.
They have a lot of decent options. I mean Cam isn't a good one but he's one. There's Rivers, Dalton, Foles, then possibly Carr or Winston depending on where Brady goes.
Hell I think the Pats would be favored to win our division if they signed any of those guys. Not because of anything other than BB gets credit where it's due, and the rest of the division freaking sucks

Just glad he's leaving. We can't over state how much this means to the Jets, our division hasn't really been in play for almost 20 years. I really thought they would find a way to bring him back.

If hes bad enough that Tampa cuts him, are you really concerned about what he can do in New England at 44 or 45 years old?
Dudes done
BB is the only one worth worrying about
And he's that age where coronavirus is a real threat. We should all go visit him and give him a hug to thank him for all he's done

The best part is that Affleck is from Boston but he always sounds like a British actor struggling with a difficult American accent when he plays a Boston character.

It will be kind of funny when there's no NFL season next year and Brady is forced to retire because he's too old, but he retires as a Buccaneer.

To be fair if the virus is still raging on by September people just aren't going to give a excrement anymore and the nfl season will absolutely be happening.
Possibly without fans in the stadium, but there's no freaking way the nfl doesn't happen next year without government intervention

Just saw a clip on ESPN of a Pats fan saying “I hope they never win anything ever again”
They never deserved any of this, like we’ve been saying all along.
I wish there were more people from NE on this board. I saw it all unfold from the inside. Boston fans rooted for:
1) Red Sox
small gap
2) Celtics
Big gap
3) Bruins
4) Patriots
The patriots didn’t have a fanbase. People barely bothered to turn the games on. (They still have a ton of fans that don’t start following the team until the playoffs). Kraft was very close to moving the team to CT and no one batted an eye.
I still have a vivid memory of people rooting for the Patriots against the Rams because they were the underdog. Not because they were a NE team. Once the dynasty was underway the “diehard fans” came out of the woodwork.

I don't see how they operate under their current cap situation without dealing him and his 14 million off their books. There isn't an obvious cut candidate and while they could certainly restructure Gilmore and Hightower, kicking the can down the road in a period where presumably they'll want to load up around a quarterbacks rookie deal isn't the most intelligent way of doing business.
And given the season Gilmore had, if any restructure represented a money cut, I'd laugh in their face.

If they decide to stick with Stidham, they'd just need to have enough cash for rookies. I don't know how accurate any or these cap space numbers are right now. OTC still has Duron Harmon on their payroll. I'm sure it takes a while for them to update all these moves.

Stop. The Patriots are not finishing last in the league. The dolphins tried last year with a much, much, much less talented roster and failed. You think the patriots could finish lower than the dolphins and Jets next year even if they tried?

Whether you care or not it’s a storyline that will be beat to death this season.
I think it’s pretty interesting. Brady appears to have a leg up on personnel, but Belichick has ran this division for years, still has a top D, and the coaching advantage. Also Brady is not prime Brady whereas Belichick is still class of the league in terms of HCs.

Tom Brady saw plenty in the locker room during his 20 years with the Patriots, including Rob Gronkowski’s you know what.
Discussing the former tight end’s “great physique” Wednesday in an extensive interview with Howard Stern, Brady recalled how Gronkowski “would get naked” in the locker room with the press present.
“Literally throw his towel over his shoulder and just walk through the locker room with all the reporters,” Brady said. “He didn’t give a s–t. He strut through.”
Though Brady said “every guy’s penis looks the exact same,” when Stern circled back to the topic of Gronk’s manhood — “We also learned from you today that Gronk has a beautiful penis” — Brady took a moment to appreciate his former tight end.
“Yes he does, it’s amazing,” the QB said. “It’s exactly what you would expect it to be.”

If Brady never played in our division, he'd probably be my favorite QB of all time. Instead, I hate him more than any other player ever.
But I still hate the Patriots more and it's not even close. Part of me wants to see Tampa Bay win it all this year and the Pats not make it past the first round. Massholes would lose their damn minds.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports "NFL teams are miffed about Tom Brady's interactions with staff members in Tampa despite restrictions."
La Canfora added, "They are anticipating some stern discipline from the NFL office. Many have conveyed their dismay to league officials." Brady made headlines after accidentally walking into a random house in the Tampa Bay area while attempting to find OC Byron Leftwich's residence. It remains to be seen what "stern discipline" will consist of, but it's hard to imagine anything resembling the form of suspension or loss of draft picks.

If Tampa Bay makes another deep playoff run, and NE has another 7-9 or worse season, how does that impact how you view Bill Belichick as a coach?
