I watched the trailer earlier. Pretty much gives the entire movie away. Looks cool though.

Is this another reboot
-
I'm in.
-
Is this another reboot
yes, but its being done by marvel and not sony, so it should be way better(not that amazing spiderman was bad) and it includes the avengers and excrement
-
Never really gave a excrement about spiderman. Is there a reason he has a following?

Todd McFarlanes run on the character is amazing IMHO. Other then that, Spidey's always been hit or miss for me, his original stuff in particular (the Lee/Ditko stuff) is dated and corny. But I think we're at a point now with so many alternate takes and alternate universes, you can say that about almost any character. For every 5 shitty takes on Superman someone like Moore comes along with a "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?"
Is this another reboot
I never got why Sony was so willing and quick to dump Andrew Garfield. I thought he was very good in the role, and the first movie was really good in particular. But I still distinctly remember watching emo-Toby McGuire dance on top of a table in Spiderman 3, turn to my buddy and say, "well this just totally pissed on the entire franchise. Burn it down and start all over."

I kind of liked part 1 and 2 of the Tobey run. I agree that 3 was just awful. Never got around to watching the Garfield reboot. Not going to bother now. I'll give the new one a chance now that he is in the Avengers universe.

I'm glad we found something we agree on. I thought 1 and 2 were good. Not groundbreaking by any stretch, but I definitely think Dafoe and Molina don't get nearly the love they should for their portrayals of Green Goblin and Doc Oc respectively.
No point in watching the Garfield movies, although I did enjoy the first. Rhys Ifans was very good as Curt Connors. I also find Emma Stone to be stunning, but that's a personal preference.

Maybe every bipartisan meeting should start off with a mandatory 30 minutes of movie discussion.

Spiderman would kick derriere as a QB. He would be right at home wearing form fitting tights and have his hand up a guys derriere.

I'm pretty sure this is Sony's version of a Deadpool movie. Keeping it separate for the most part from the MCU but give it an R rating.

tom hardy is elite. I'll go see this

But he can he live up to the past performance by topher grace?

Why do they keep remaking Spider-Man?

Why do they keep remaking Spider-Man?
Easy money?

Why do they keep remaking Spider-Man?
Sony Pictures was on the verge of bankruptcy after the last Andrew Garfield Spider-Man flopped so they made a deal with Marvel to return the character to where he belongs. That's how we got Tom Holland.

Not to mention they only made the Andrew Garfield movies because they needed to make one in order to avoid the character rights reverting back to Marvel, or something.
-
Garfield seems like an unlikable douchebag that needs to be punched in the face.

The new kid only looks slightly less punchable. I don't love the Stark suit at all. Is he really going to have a wise crack everytime he does anything?
This is a one and done to incorporate spiderboy into the Avengers.

Probably not, but wisecracks are certainly in the spirit of Spider-Man.
-
Wisecracks are literally part of the character of Spider-Man.
He verbally assaults his foes because it's distracting. It's a tool he uses to win.
I don't see this as a one-and-done. Unless it flops, and I don't think it will, this is going to be the kickoff of a big franchise going forward.
-
IMO Holland is going to be a great Spidey.

Agreed. I think he already did a good job in Civil War.

Keep pumping out these movies until one of them doesn't completely suck, I'll keep you posted for when that happens

There were a couple of Spider-Man movies that sucked.

The first and second Tobey installments weren't bad. The third was obviously a disaster.
I have never been a big spiderman fan. The Stark suit is sort of WTF? I'd rather watch Wonder Woman or Aquaman. The only gayer comic book franchises out there.

Not denying that possibility. Watched trailer, was hoping Stark would punch him in the face. Didn't even digest that he's a flying squirrel too. Did I mention I freaking hate spiders?

Badger will hate the bump, but I know not everyone is keen on the superhero movies anymore.
But has anyone seen the Venom teaser? This might be one supes movie Heismanberg will hit the theater for. Venom is being played by Tom Hardy!

Well he played as Bane and to me that was a pretty shitty Batman movie.

I haven't heard from anyone but you that has seen it. I haven't yet. It made a shitton of money though, so I'm curious to see what happens next weekend.

I saw it last Friday too. The CGI was incredible, but the plot stunk. Typical Sony marvel movie.

I really don't understand why Sony and Fox don't just hang on to the distribution rights, but let Marvel produce the Spiderverse and X-whatever movies. Everybody wins.

I didn't even know he was in it. Doesn't sound like a bad casting choice either.

He could easily pull that role off, but not with a wig that makes him look like Carrot Top.

he was the villian this movie deserved but didnt get.
hes an end credit teaser and he looks enough like the comic that it dosent bother me, altho woody is not my ideal casting

Just got back from Far From Home.
Story left alot to be desired.
Action sequences, 1 in particular, was amazing
Jake G was great
6.5/10

Mostly agree. The only thing that surprised me was the "why" but the story was really predictable. It felt like a Spidey story by the end, so I was satisfied there. The ham-fisted "there is no one else" was a bit too contrived though.
The action scenes were big-screen-worthy, especially the final one. I'm considering going back to see it in 3D.
The opening gave me some feels.
Did you stick around for the stingers?
-
You guys should’ve seen Midsommar instead

I didnt really feel like it was forced.
Peter's father, uncle, and now his mentor/idol has died. Tony, the only father figure he's had since god knows when just sacrificed himself to save the world, and now this 15/16 year old feels like he has to live up to Tony's accomplishments, and he doesn't know how to cope with it.
To make matters worse the kid has no one to discuss this with because his super powers are a secret, and the people that do know about his powers are either dead, on a foreign planet, or are his Aunt or Ned.
Could you imagine that stress and loneliness?
One thing to also think about is how the MCU likes to develop character arcs over their movies (Cap and Tony emotionally and spiritually started as very different people from how their characters ended). This was clearly a very important part of Peter's journey in the larger story.
Obviously stayed for the mid credits and post credits
Alot of people seemed to be pissed off about the implications of the mid credits scene, but given the way the MCU tells their stories I felt like it was to be expected.

Damn, sorry I wasn't clear enough. It could've saved you some typing. I didn't have an issue with Peter's trust and the implications. The "there's no one else" I was referring to was Nick Fury responding to Peter's "Dude, I'm vacay, where's Capt. Marvel or Doc Strange?" with "Unavailable." It's a freaking extinction-level threat, why aren't everyone still alive post-Infinity War available?
As for the stinger twist, I wonder if they'll use some post-Civil War in the comics material to work it out. Or could they introduce Miles? We know he exists in this continuity.
I also just read Holland had a 6-film deal to play Spidey; broken into 3 Disney movies, and 3 Sony flicks. The next movie would complete his contract. Personally, I think he's been the best live-action Spidey, and I'd like to see him continue--though mentoring Miles would be pretty cool. Did you see Into the Spiderverse?

Word, we're on the same page.
Yeah I surprisingly really enjoyed it.
I heard somewhere that he might end up having 2 separate trilogies because hes going to carry the mcu.
