The #Jets are re-signing CB Brian Poole on a one-year deal for $5m guaranteed, per @RosenhausSports.

Very decent price, I would have liked a bit more term. He's only 27.
-
Good value. Glad to have him back, knows Gegggggg's system.

Brian Poole’s 1-year deal for $5M with the Jets is indeed fully guaranteed, per @RosenhausSports

Good for him too, if he plays well, he can win big next offseason.

Great move great value

Very happy to have him back.
Now bring in an Amukamara so we can cut Daryl Roberts useless derriere.

Great deal. He got 1 year, $3.5M last year. I'm sure Poole probably wanted a longer-term deal, but this deal works for both sides.
Amazing how you can still sign decent players after day 1 of the tampering period.

Awesome. Let’s try and get Jenkins back.

I'm probably reading too much into it, but short term deals and deals they can go early term on seem to be the M.O. for Douglas right now. Maybe he's giving Gase enough rope? If he hangs himself, then Douglas gets a much cleaner roster to work on with the guy he selects.
But it's also possible he's just got his eye on corners in the draft as well, and would rather treat this year with a band-aid.

Douglas doesn't believe in building through free agency. He is signing players that we need but he plans on building through the draft and paying the guys that he hand picks.
These contracts he's dished out so far make it a lot easier for us to commit money to Sam Darnold and Jamal Adams.

I'm 100% in on that gameplan. I've always believed it's best to build through the draft and only use FA to get that "final piece" guy when you're ready to make a legit run.

There are a ton of ways to improve your team. Douglas seems to be focused on filling holes and building a sustainable core we can build with.
If there were a year to make a splash, this would have been a good year for it while we're still on Sam's rookie deal. But it's unlikely we would compete for a title in 2020, so hopefully 2020 goes well so we can make a splash and go for it in 2021.
