Young Seton Hall team won the Wooden Classic over Miami. Looks like this year might be ok.

Seton Hall over Kentucky in OT at the Garden.

Syracuse and Georgetown had a hell of a game yesterday as well.

Jersey goes blue, Seton Hall over Rutgers. Hall now 7-3 with a decent non conference schedule.

Can’t wait for that Sju-Seton Hall game on the 29th. Should be a good one.

Yeah, it will be fun to see both teams good at the same time. This was projected to be more of St John's year but we're hanging in so far.
-
Seton Hall wins at Maryland, finished non conference 9-3.

Seton Hall - SJU: hose job worthy of the Palestra.
edit: though SJ helped cook its own goose missing the front end of consecutive one and ones down the stretch.

Guy still had to make that shot. Hall is on a roll, if this was in March it would be remembered for a long time.
-
Yes he did - clutch shot. I had no emotional skin in the game and am just calling a spade a spade. College basketball's full of horseshit calls and in this case the refs compounded screwing up a game-clinching change of possession call with a b.s. cover up. A hose is a hose - e.g. Seton Hall getting hosed vs. Michigan (Rumeal "eats federal institution food" Robinson) in the Final Four.

Very impressed you remember that. For a long time I felt like we should have a lifetime pass for bad calls.
I did think St John's was the better team most of the game, they went cold late. In a weird way I'm happy to see them good, it's good for the league.

We're on the same page league-wise (^ in bold). Out of the box it looked like the Big East was going to be a dog this year (Hall crushed by Neb., Nova losing to Furman) but since then they look like they're not going to be all that bad. SJU bounced back blowing out #16 Marquette - didn't see that coming.
-
Seton Hall came from 10 down to win at Xavier with McKnight sitting pretty much the whole second half in foul trouble. Xavier is maybe not what they've been, they lost that annoying little Marcura guy, but that's a tough place to win and it was pretty loud when they built that lead.
-
Nice road win. In the Big East scheme of things, what's up with Xavier and Butler this year?

Butler is still decent. Surprised about their last few games.
It's wide open at the top. My Villanova Wildcats aren't nearly as good as they have been. Marquette, Seton Hall, St. John's and Villanova are all probably around the same level this year.
-
Xavier lost some players and has a new coach, I haven't seen Butler yet. Villanova had a closer game at home vs DePaul than you would expect.
-
Zion Williamson is ridiculous

Another comeback that just fell short - Romero Gill's injury was the difference (off the boards). Too bad, Hall would've been ranked after Iowa (25), Nebraska (24), Oklahoma (23), Wisconsin (22), and Marquette (16) all lost this week.

Yeah, maybe DePaul is better this year in relation to the rest of the conference. I'm ok with not being ranked right now, a 10-8 conference record and a win at MSG in March would get it to 20 wins and likely the NCAAs. Hopefully they can do better than 10-8 but you never know, I didn't think they would go 9-3 in the first leg of the season with the schedule they played.
-
St. John’s ranked 24 in the AP poll. Besides one bullshit loss they should still be undefeated but it’s nice to see them ranked again. Big game tomorrow. Statement game.
-
Down goes Duke!
Cuse with the overtime upset at Cameron Indoor

They had a good shot to win in regulation.
DePaul is better than we thought.

Got ourselves a big one Saturday night at MSG. #HallIn

Eh. The Big East is kinda excrement this year. I can’t see any team in the league making it to the 2nd week in the NCAAs.

You never know, the beauty of a one and done tournament. I'm enjoying the balance of the season, better than two teams stomping everyone all year. The Big East Tournament is going to be nuts.
-
BTW, what happened to Zion? Knicks are getting hurt before we can even fix the lottery to draft them.
-

It’s definitely true that any team can beat anyone in this conference. St. John’s has beaten Marquette twice and Villanova yet loses to DePaul and Providence twice.
Competitiveness is fantastic but it doesn’t take away the fact the conference reeks of mediocrity and I think once they start playing other conferences, they’re gonna get stomped.
Speaking of SJU-SH, don’t the officials owe us one? That was highway robbery at its worst.

They made a mistake but Shavar still had to make a great shot.
Both my NJ teams at the Garden Saturday, Devils-Rangers in the afternoon.

He should have never had the chance to make the shot because Figueroa saved the ball (the replay clearly showed that) and made a clean pass to Heron who was fouled and would have had 2 free throws with less than 3 seconds left with a 2-Point lead. The BE admitted they fucked up. The game would have been over.

Not arguing any of that. He still had to hit the shot is all I'm saying. No disagreement about the rest.

BTW, what happened to Zion? Knicks are getting hurt before we can even fix the lottery to draft them.
the nba will not allow the knicks to get zion, all these knick fans that are penciling him in as a future knick are crazy deluded
the nba fixing lotteries every now and then is a bad secret. the whole reason why they changed up the lotto odds this year is to 'even up the odds' across the board, to: 1 - deter teams from tanking and 2 - (my own theory) make things look less suspicious when a team 'somehow' makes a crazy jump up the lotto board
how bad would it look like for the nba to have a tanking team like the knicks end up with the 1st pick after rolling out these new odds to try and prevent that very thing? it would be such a bad look for them, and one they are going to prevent at all costs.
it's likelier the league gives the knicks the lowest possible pick they can get as opposed to a top 1 - 4 pick as an example to other teams that tanking shouldn't be done and won't help anymore.
-
the nba should find a way to get the #1 pick to the warriors. think of the ratings!
-
Seton Hall came back from the brink last night, 18-0 run to finish the game and beat Marquette. Nova up next, might need that one and if not, one or two at the Garden.

Huge win today against Nova. I think this one booked their spot in the tournament.

Top 10 moment for me as a sports fan

St. John’s has completely robbed me of caring about the rest of the season. They need a real coaching staff.
Watch...they’ll probably win the Big East now.

This team is so unpredictable. They’ll either get killed tomorrow night or they’ll win the whole thing. That’s what happens when you play street ball.

College kids, unpredictable.
-
Two Big East games tonight, St John's in the night cap. Hall has Georgetown tomorrow, I have to root against Patrick Ewing at MSG with his number 33 in the rafters.
It's a crazy world.

Providence hanging in with Villanova, last 6:00 or so.

What did I tell you about this team? Unbelievably frustrating season.

Yeah, didn’t see that coming. They should still make the NCAAs.

Zion Williamson is a human highlight reel

Willard has done an absolutely fantastic job with the Pirates this year. I've never been his biggest fan, but this was a great job.
LETS GO PIRATES.

He's been steady and the players seem to love him, including the guys who have graduated.
Hoping the Big East represents, starting with St John's tonight.

St. John’s game is tomorrow night. I actually like their chance, naively enough.

They can beat anybody if they all show up on the same night.
And don't listen to me so they show up on the right night.
-
Also an observation from the Big East Tournament--Gus Johnson's overreactions are more tolerable when he's reacting to your guy.
"What Trenton makes....the world takes!" LOL
-
Can’t say I’m too surprised by this right now. There’s a couple of teams in the NIT that are probably pissed right now.

You're not out of this, 13 at the half.
-

Should be closer. ASU gave us every chance to get this to single digits. Heron had a terrible half.
-
Passing is terrible and they’re missing a ton of FTs.
-
Full court press off made baskets has been effective, need to make a few more.
-
Arizona State's bench only missed one shot tonight. That's a huge difference maker.
Only hitting 50% of your free throws usually bites you in the derriere in the end as well.
-
Buffalo is gonna wipe the floor with that team. If St. John’s doesn’t play the worst game of basketball I’ve ever seen, they probably win. I mean, Heron missed 3 free throws in a row. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone do that before. They threw the ball around like it was a hot potato. And, they had a chance still at the end. ASU should have been raping them at that point.
-
I'm 0-1 on my picks so far. #FastStart

Ja Morant is special
Zion and Morant will go 1-2 in the draft

Ugly half for the Hall, down 10, could be worse.

I really like Ja. I agree with this statement. Cam Reddish might have a say, but I would def take Ja over him

Say it with me...the Big East is trash this year. Nova barely won.

Marquette is out.
This freaking slackjaw on Wofford is irritating.
-
Ja Morant is the first guard with a triple-double in NCAA Tourney game since Dwyane Wade in 2003 Elite 8 vs Kentucky.
-
That's that.
Waiting for the Dodgers now. And the NFL draft. And the NBA draft. And the NHL draft.
My teams are terrible.
-
Never rooted for Kentucky before.
#FuckWofford
-
Ja Morant was the first NCAA player ever to avg 20 ppg and 10 assts since they started tracking assists in NCAA in 1983.
#2 pick.
-
Mullin out at SJU. Surprised but not upset in the slightest. Pitino rumors are swirling but I think Bobby Hurley is gonna he the guy. Their AD has bigtime Duke roots.

Didn't see that coming.
Virginia's win Saturday won me money for the first time in 30 years of playing money NCAA bracket pools. I had a Michigan State-Virginia final with MSU winning.

Myles Powell coming back to Seton Hall.

Good. Last year, the Big East didn't have a single team with a losing record when the regular season ended. Now the league has a team with a losing record in 3 straight years, so they can help pad the top of the league standings.
