Title: CHRISTMAS

Just got 99pct of my Xmas shopping done on Amazon. No gift receipts either. If you don't like this free thing I'm giving you, then too bad.

Thinking about hitting that up tomorrow.  If Prime doesn't get it here by the 24th, they can die in a fire.

Gift bags are for fags.

I'd rather suffer through the japanese origami that is "gift wrapping" than resort to using faggy gift bags.

Wife and I have agreed to get nothing for each other as we just spent several grand on a holiday in January. Mum and Dad are getting a voucher for a very smart restaurant, my sister is getting a bunch of Team Canada Winter Olympics gear. All of my wife's (very large) family have agreed that when we get together on Christmas Day as is tradition, we will each bring one gift costing no more than $25. Each person will therefore leave with one gift worth no more than $25.

This is turning out to be the easiest Christmas in years.

I hate wrapping the gifts. I'm not good at it at all. Other than that, I'm done, even the stocking stuffers and the liquor bottles for some of the people I work with. Balvenie 15 for the boss.

Man, I outsource all of that present wrapping excrement to my girlfriend. She bought and wrapped numerous presents for both my parents and a few of my other relatives, I hardly even know what has my name attached to it. Easiest excrement imagineable and it looks like a goddam catalogue in my living room.

All of this is true for me.

I started wrapping things for my fiancée when we first met in miserable fashion, so she expects no better.

For my dad's gift I've just picked different things to wrap his present in every year. It started with random themed wrapping paper, then newspaper, garbage bags, pictures of zebras, etc.

I'm full of Christmas spirit, I got so drunk I could barely see at a party last night and I'm looking forward immensely to spending two weeks watching movies and playing video games. What could be more Christmas spirit than that?

Well it's all about booze.

Hahaha, very true.

I love the whole process.  Picking out presents, wrapping, all of it.  It's even better now with kids.  Mine did pretty well this year.  The PS4 was our family present that we got early.  My daughter got books, science stuff, a rainbow loom, and a basketball.  My son got a couple of Lego sets and Skylanders.  The best is watching them pick out presents for each other, though.  For my daughter, it meant a long process of finding just the right present for her brother.  For my son, it meant looking for the very first Harry Potter thing he could find to give her.

I spoiled my female on our anniversary and couldn't think of excrement to get her for Christmas, so she got a bunch of kitchen crap from Walmart/Amazon. My kid is making out like a bandit, trains, toy tool benches, hot wheels and whatever other crap my woman got him.

We did most of the shopping on Amazon because freak the mall. I, like Tommy, paid the $5 per package ransom that Amazon charged so I wouldn't have to wrap. Anything I got at Walmart, the SIL wrapped it. She lives in my basement rent free, she can wrap my god damn gifts.

I just want it to be done with so I can get this freaking tree out of my house and burn it in the firepit out back already.

Family gift was the PS4.  Wife bought me a Keurig.  Daughter got me a new Jets hat.  Son got me a Taco Bell gift card because he loves Taco Bell and we let the kids pick anything they want for each parent.  In laws got me a pair of Dominion expansion sets and some K cups. Assorted other little things from family.  The folks rented a huge cabin in Big Bear for a few days next week as a gift to their kids' families (except my brother, who has to work on the dates my mom purposefully selected).

At this point, it's all about what the kids get.  Son got two Lego superhero sets, the One Ring, a LOTR poster from his sister, Skylanders Swap Force, and 12 additional Skylanders (my buddy at Activision hooked me up w 7, Amazon had massive sales on the rest).  Daughter got a new basketball, rainbow loom, Toms, kit to build electric circuits, tons of books, and some clothes.  Other stuff from family.  Good Christmas.

Uncharted 3? Nice. One of the best series of games in history. Absolutely awesome work by Naughty Dog. Even though in 3 the story becomes a little (did I really just say that?) less believeable, it's still boatloads of fun.

Enjoy that one, and get the original duo if you haven't played them yet, very worthy games.

Seconded

There's a place out here that uses smoked salt, sweet onion sugar, duck fat and cracked duck skin in the fries.

Drool.

There's a place in Charleston called The Tattooed Moose that has one of the best lunch specials I've ever had:

Duck confit club sandwich and a side of duck fat fries with garlic aioli and duck fat gravy.

Applewood bacon, smoked cheddar, hawaiian bread, garlic aioli on the sandwich too

I thought we were supposed to be boycotting ducks for being racist or something?

Do duckfat fries actually taste different ?

I looked online (since I never heard of them) and a lot of people just said they taste the same as normal fries, but since theyre fried in animal fat (instead of the normal vegetable oils/fat) that theyre just crispier ?

Then again ive fried with coconut oil before, and that makes things taste quite a bit different...

Yes, they taste different.  Not as strong a flavor as beef tallow fries (which are also quite good), but it still comes through.  Very crispy outside, rich inside.

Is beef tallow similar to like cubed lard that people used to use to make old school pies back in the day (like apple pie and stuff)

Most deff. I've had duck fat fries (belgian frites) at a place in Toronto called Beerbistro, and they were awesome. Voted the best fries in Toronto and are constantly a contender for best beer and atmosphere.

get the fries, they're delicious.

for what it's worth, if you're ever in Toronto, try and get to Beerbistro, especially if you're a beer connoisseur. Their beer book - http://www.beerbistro.com/images/pdfs/beermenuweb.pdf
