Baltimore Ravens
Statement from Ozzie Newsome: "In unfortunate news, Dennis Pitta re-injured his hip at today’s OTA session."
Plus I think they lost a starting corner to a torn ACL earlier this week.
Not really lol, but I think all the teams' news threads are lols at this point.

I think it's bad karma to put injuries in the "lol" threads. Jinx!

Fear is Ravens TE Dennis Pitta fractured and dislocated his hip for third time in four years. If so, NFL career likely would be over.

Yeah agree, I guess it was his call. I still think it was nuts, the players really have to think in future terms. He will be lucky if he walks without a cane in ten years. I would bet my left nut he will use one.

Incredible. More awful #Ravens news: Rookie G Nico Siragusa tore his ACL, MCL and PCL while running with the 1st team today, sources said.
Good Lord, the Ravens are getting crushed with injuries.
-
Damn.
http://www.espn.com/blog/baltimore-ravens/post/_/id/37788/cringe-worthy-count-ravens-have-now-lost-nine-players-in-past-72-days
Here are the players the Ravens have lost due to injury, suspension or retirement since June 1:
Tavon Young, a starter last season and a promising nickelback, tore his ACL on June 1;
Dennis Pitta, who led all NFL tight ends with 86 catches last season, suffered a likely career-ending hip injury June 2;
Darren Waller, a special-teams standout and a backup tight end, was suspended for the season June 30 for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy;
Kenneth Dixon, the team's most elusive running back, hurt his knee while training at Louisiana Tech and underwent season-ending surgery July 25;
John Urschel, who was competing for the starting center job, retired a couple hours before the first practice of training camp July 27;
Crockett Gillmore, who was battling for a starting tight end spot, sustained a season-ending knee injury July 28;
Nico Siragusa, a rookie fourth-round pick, tore his ACL, PCL and MCL on Aug. 1 after getting caught in a pile during a running play in camp;
Lewis, who started eight games as a rookie last season, tore his labrum in his shoulder and decided Friday to undergo surgery after it didn't respond to treatment;
White, an undrafted rookie who started Thursday as well as served as the primary returner, hurt his thumb in the preseason opener.

All that and that's not even factoring in Joe Flaccos situation

Amazingly there's no lolravens thread. Stupid franchise with their competent management and high quality coaching.
Anyway, Marshall Yanda is going to announce his retirement. I don't know if they have a replacement in the wings, but if not then there's another player in the FA market who will probably be able to take their pick of whoever they want ahead of comedy outfits like us.

Yanda was eating $9M of the cap last year. Graham Glasgow has made $4M in his career. If Baltimore offer him $10M per, which would put him around DeCastro levels, and the chance to win a ring in a well coached and well run team, I don't think he's bothering to talk to us and our $12M.

Not sure what Browns plans are. I suppose he would like a trade to be a LT somewhere in the league.

Sources: #Ravens OT Orlando Brown wants to be traded. After tweeting his desire to only play left tackle – he filled in there for Ronnie Stanley and shined this season – Brown will only play for a team that will play him at his preferred spot. Baltimore would need a major haul.
This situation would probably happen to us if we drafted Sewell.

I think the real question was why was he going with a reporter? Unless they were attending separately.
Maybe they're friends? Maybe there was a group of them going and the reporter is tight with some of the players, and the others didn't mind? Maybe because they figure that if the reporter is part of whatever happens, he's less likely to write about it? Lots of reasons why he might go with them.

I know people are gonna be like omg we need Lamar
First off common sense dictates there's no chance he's available.
If he is, itll mean giving up two first rounders. And the only freaking way on the planet he'd come here is if we gave him the best QB contract of all time.
I'm sorry but who the freak here would be okay if we gave up two firsts plus over 50 million a year and almost all of guaranteed, to a QB whose game is based off his running ability.
The contract he turned down was 6 years 290 million, so for him to come here would take a ridiculously insane contract.
The dudes ultra talented capable of playing at an MVP level.
Do I want to bet the franchise on him being able to do that at minimum the next 6 years? No freaking way.
Regardless obviously won't be available

It will be very interesting to see what Lamar ends up getting paid. Multiple seasons now with lots of missed time due to injury, which you can project will continue due to his play style. Add in the playoff struggles (although his last PO game was his best). Gotta wonder how that affects his financial value relative to other top QBs.
He’s probably still getting paid by the brinks truck. I’m just curious if he resets the market or not due to injuries

I just hope Lamar doesn't expect to receive a guaranteed contract like Deshaun Watson. I think Cleveland is already regretting doing that. That's what held up negotiations with Baltimore, he wants a guaranteed contract. To make matters worse, he doesn't have agent representation.

MBG and esp. dcm, nowhere in my quote did I suggest Lamar was obligated to play but simply that he could’ve and should’ve been with them (even if that meant keeping him off his feet and sitting in a guest box).
Overall my point was that after spotting Cincy a 9-0 lead (and besides the fluke 98 yd. fumble return) the Ravens defense pretty much quieted a prolific offense.

When you have something good, you don’t play with it,” the quote read. “You don’t take chances losing it. You don’t neglect it. When you have something good, you pour into it. You appreciate it. Because when you take care of something good, that good thing takes care of you too.”
“you pour into it” ?? … I get the gist and all but what a plum. lol
All these players have god complexes....he's no different.

libero, here's another reason why the Ravens won't let Lamar sit in limbo. He's either signing or getting traded.
The Le'veon Bell situation was different because HB is plug n play.

The ravens will tell everyone Lamar will be a Raven. They will say all through FA that he’s going no where and they will get the deal done. That deadline is after the opening foray of FA. Ravens with either sign guys or not for this season regardless of Lamar’s situation. If anything for that very reason they don’t WANT to trade him, because if they do, why would a top FA sign there instead of say KC? Assuming deals are equal?

fwiw Jax ranked pretty low in the 'downfield throws' category (as did Zach & Rogers for that matter)

I have to think from a gambling perspective the Vegas odds have to be overwhelming that Jackson would be back with Baltimore
I wouldn't mind the Jets getting involved in conversations as a freak you to the Packers since they're obviously being stubborn about Rodgers. I have no interest in him coming here for the type of package it'll take to get him though

“First of all, Lamar Jackson’s a fantastic player,” Douglas said, via SNY. “But where we stand is, it would be disingenuous and negotiating in bad faith if we went down that path. So, right now, we have our plan, we have our process and we’re sticking to that.”

It's hard to imagine JD and Saleh going back on their word and scrapping the whole Rodgers/Wilson thing to suddenly start chasing Jackson
If Green Bay has the mental delusions that they're going to get 8 million picks for Rodgers and maintains this throguh the summer, or if someone else jumps in and pays it. Then I could see a pivot to Jackson, But for JD to literally say it would be negotiating in bad faith and then to go do it? Sounds pretty cut and dry to me that the Jackson fantasy never was and never will be

JD isn't going to announce to the world what he's doing. So expect anything.

Don't think anyone else will jump in considering Rodgers announced his intention.

Sounds like he did. At this time it would be negotiating in bad faith by talking to Lamar, since he isn’t their top choice and they have no intention of signing him. If he becomes their top choice (because Rodgers is no longer an option) negotiating with Lamar is no longer considered in bad faith, because they actually are trying to come to an agreement.

I wouldn't expect it either. But this is March
If we're having this conversation in July it could be a different story

Everyone knows what the deal is. Packers know they will trade him to the Jets. Jets know they will trade for him.
There's no reason to get into Lamar Jackson talks at this point. Rodgers is our guy. Lamar can become a backup plan if this drags on past the draft.

I'm at the point where the holdup is now retarded.
-

Honestly the hold up for whatever reason might be the best thing for us. Everyone expects us to send a 2 for Rodgers this year and a conditional next year. Well if we go beyond the draft, then that pick becomes a straight conditional next year. Which almost certainly ensures we either pay very little if it doesn’t work out (like the Favre trade) or it works out, and we are all plenty happy to pay a premium pick at that point.
-
Libero is spot on. At this point the holdup is just vanity and has no negative impact on the product on the field.
We don't need Rodgers signed in March, and it probably benefits us. The asking price for Rodgers is too high for most of us, and it comes down with time.

No, you want him under contract asap because it affects the rest of FA and what we do at the draft. And when it comes to this franchise, I prefer not to freak around and play with fire.

He announced his intentions
The whole world knows Rodgers will be playing for the Jets next year.
There are no other options even on the table at this point

Are you glad we signed Lazard over him? I wouldn't want either, but at least Beckham is more productive and is gone after one year
Also it's been like 5 years since the dude got traded, he's been a free agent

You might be the only Jet fan in the country who would rather see Zach than Jimmy G
Especially since Jimmy G means we wouldn't have had to trade our 1st pick and we could actually have drafted a tackle
