We were born in the wrong generation. My high school teachers were all on the cusp of retiring (my parents had the same teachers in the 70's). Missed the turnover by about 5-7 years.
Plus, we're only hearing about the teachers that got caught....I can only imagine how common this is now.

Same here. Almost all of my teachers were over 50. Or fat. I think the hottest teacher I ever had was unfortunately my kindergarten teacher.

The other was our home Ec teacher (brunette, late 30s at the time, great funbags, rarely wore a bra to class...when she'd wear loose fitting blouses, it was always a good day for us when she'd bend over to pick something up).

Senior year we had Christian service, so we just had to volunteer somewhere for a day instead of going to school. It was pretty awesome. I volunteered at a head start program for preschool poor kids. I walked in the first day with a Dewars T-shirt and was told that it was inappropriate. Told the principal that none of the kids can't read it anyway, and he laughed it off. Pretty funny.

Mahoney, 25, who was also the assistant athletic director at the 450-student school in the Bulls Head section, would pick him up and take him to secluded spots to have sex, the boy said.
“We would just drive around and [do it] in the car,” he said.
He said the two never talked about the illegal or inappropriate nature of their relationship. “That never came up,” he said.

On another note about that school, it's got the worst athletic program I've ever been around. Their football team could only be described as steroid infused. I saw a kid try to climb in the stands to fight a parent from another school.
The coaches were about as ignorant as could be and let the players do what they wanted. I saw them player a school from South Jersey QB'd by a kid who is at Arkansas now and they cheap shotted him just about every play (the SI refs didn't care).
They disbanded the football team two years ago because of "numbers", but they were kicked out of their conference years before because they were so out of control.

According to ABC News, Letourneau surprisingly plans to teach again. She's also trying to have her status as a registered sex offender lifted. For his part, Fualaau discussed his struggle with alcoholism, depression, and "why he believes the system failed him while he was still a minor."
The couple also introduced the world to their two teenage daughters Audrey and Georgia for the first time. Audrey was born while Letourneau was out on bail in May 1997, and Georgia was born while she was still serving her sentence in 1998. Letourneau also has four children from her first marriage. As ABC notes, the girls "are now older than Vili when he conceived them."
Letourneau and Fualaau were married on May 20, 2005 in Washington, after Fualaau filed a motion in court requesting a reversal of the no-contact order against his now-wife. The two are still together to this day.
"I mean, I just love to sit back and watch him with our girls," the former schoolteacher told Dateline about her husband in 2006. "Even how he interacts with my older children...and how he takes care of our girls, but part of why we are together, is the way we both see just people in general. And, so that extends to my children. He's an amazing father."

New York authorities are investigating allegations that a female assistant principal slept with a female student but it was kept hush-hush by the principal.
Assistant Principal Pelagia Papoutsis, 33, was abruptly removed from William Cullen Bryant High School in Queens before classes started earlier this month.
Papoutsis, a former math teacher at the school who went by the nickname "Pelly," was promoted to Assistant Principal last year. She was considered to be close with Prinicpal Namita Dwarka, according to reports.
Now a former student has said that she had a romantic relationship with Papoutsis. The claims emerged after the student spoke with gym teacher Peter Maliarakis on Facebook.
Maliarakis shared messages with The New York Post.
“Pelly was having inappropriate relations with a student,” the unnamed student wrote. “I’m the first hand witness because it was me.”
