Too busy prepping for the Ship:
"You have to show up to the contest and win. The CFB playoff committee are good people and they want the best teams."

What's that? preseason polls picked them to finish dead last in what has to be the most pathetic conference in NCAA D1 football? ha.

They're just the guys that get cut from the basketball team.

It'll be fun when they lose big week 1 at home to an FCS team.

The players that get cut from the Men and Women teams

UConn should stick to basketball.

1-0

Next victim: Army
No problem, UConn has a premier run defense.

You guys have a football team?
My 2nd reaction, my first was FU Badger.
-
2-0
-
2-1. The ending was perfect - UConn had to kick a 40ish yard field goal to tie with about a minute on the clock but chose instead to run some shitty trick play to try and win it. The attempted TD pass was horrible and easily picked for Mizzou to win 9-6 and I'm not watching either of those teams again this season out of choice.
Tyler Hunt was the only remotely interesting player to watch.
-
Tough to keep a 12-1 UConn team out of the BCS title game

2019 bottom 10 final rankings (CBS Sports)
121. Bowling Green
122. Texas St.
123. South Alabama
124. New Mexico
125. UCONN
126. New Mexico St.
127. Old Dominion
128. UTEP
129. UMASS
130. Akron
UConn was scheduled to open 2020 at home vs. UMass. Speaking of UMass, they originally were scheduled for a 'cash game' slaughter at Auburn Nov. 14 (cxld). And as an Independent they had scheduled 4 of the bottom 10 for 2020: Akron, New Mexico, New Mexico St. and UConn. Combining an SEC power with 4 bottom of the barrel creampuffs - ?
(120. Rutgers)
-
Lol how was anyone worse than UConn last year
-
They're back in the Big East for hoops, which is the right move for them.

They're lucky the Big East took back a team that can't even compete in the American.

I have a feeling they'll get better again. Saw a bunch of their games on Sundays this past year, that league had some good teams. Eleven is a strange number of teams, I wonder if they'll add another and who.

I know this is the football thread....but....the greatest athlete to ever come out of UCONN was Charlie "no brows" Villanueva

False it’s Sue Bird or Diana Taurasi but I will use this opportunity to bring up this quote:
After the Celtics dominant 109-86 win at the Palace of Auburn Hills, Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva sent out a Tweet following the game and claimed Garnett had referred to him as a 'cancer patient'. Villanueva also went to say that he was willing to fight Garnett and that he had a special place for cancer patients.
For those who don't know, Villanueva suffers from Alopecia Areata. It's a disorder that causes hair loss and Charlie has embraced the fact that is a victim of the disease and has visited children that have also suffer from it.

Kevin Garnett is a pos dirtbag (same guy who made a sleezoid comment to Melo about his 'honey-flavored cereal' wife). Trying to get into a guy's head at the beginning of a game is one thing but wives/families? That's horseshit. p.s. Ray Allen / Richard Hamilton?

Looking at the 2021 pre and postseason rankings both squads were overachievers....
UConn - 2022 Preseason Rank 131
2021 CFN Preseason Rank: 129
2021 CFN Final Rank: 128
UMass - 2022 Preseason Rank 130
2021 CFN Preseason Rank: 130
2021 CFN Final Rank: 129

Utah State was a 24 point favorite at home vs. UConn. UConn jumped out to a 14-0 lead, gave up 24 straight points but closed to within four points in the 4th quarter but couldn't overcome QB Zion Turner's sub .500 pct., 2 INTs. Nathan Carter did rush for 190 yards for UConn. Huskies even with the loss should move up the ranks (125?) after a fairly competitive road effort out in Logan, UT.

Uconn 7
C Ct St 6

Closer drive from hard hittin' New Britain to the Rentsch than it is from Storrs to the Rentsch.

2021:
Fresno St. 45; UConn O
2022:
UConn 19; Fresno St. 14
Huskies at 2-4, will probably lose to Ball St. BC and Liberty but should beat FIU, UMass and Army to finish at 5-7, just one game short of bowl eligibility and with that breaking into the Top 90, a vast improvement over 2021. In 2023 there'll probably be many CFB roads going through Storrs, CT
