It will take three voices to replace Mike (Sports Pope) Francesa.
Industry sources say WFAN suits will soon name Chris Carlin, Bart Scott, and Maggie Gray as their new afternoon drive team replacing Francesa when he departs the station on December 15.
-
Good I thoroughly enjoy listening to him.
-
Bart Scott is such an poopchute and loves the Jets, I'm looking forward to this.
-
Looking forward to the huge gathering in Times Square a little over weeks later where millions of sports fans can celebrate the fact that that fat boring pompous pile of dog poop is no longer spewing on our local 24 hour sports station
Good riddance to bad rubbish

Who is Maggie Gray?

I don't have the file now but for me Francesa's greatest and most hilarious screw up was trying to explain away the Jets Beating the Bolts to get to the AFC championship game. That was brilliant and really quite unbelievable - his face was as sour as a lemon.

Good thing it's radio.
T minus 3 weeks for Ft Lauderdale. With no Puck I'm thinking tit bar for 1 pm Jets-KC game.

Of course, the one in this thread isn't.

Gregg Giannotti, currently co-host of “Gio & Jones” on CBS Sports Radio, has been named co-host of the newly renamed WFAN morning show, “Boomer & Gio,” alongside Boomer Esiason.
-
Joe and Evan is now 10-2 instead of 10-1. Afternoon drive starts at 2 now.
-
Haven't listened since they dumped the Rangers, Knicks, Mets and Jets.
Haven't missed it for a millesecond

Cool story bro

It sounds like a lot of media driven speculation but Albert Breer was in yesterday and he said that it’s runored that Bruce Arians may retire at the end of the season. He said that the Cardinals may try to look into trading for Todd Bowles.
They’ve been talking about it all day today, but I still don’t know how valid that rumor is. They have Peter Schrager on now and he said he wouldn’t trade Bowles.

if Duff somehow traded Bowles for a pick(s), he should get a street named after him in Manhattan.

Pretty sure Arians announced a few weeks ago that he would be retiring at the end of the season, I don't think that's speculation or rumour at all.

I meant the bit about them exploring a trade for Bowles. I’m not sure if that’s a rumor from a source close to the team or just Breer spitballing replacement options.
-
Does that mean I can start dreaming about Chucky and the Jets again?

I want to give Bowles one more year but if someone gives us a high-ish round pick for him, good riddance. Not gonna happen though,
-
Bruce Arians, a two-time NFL Coach of the Year who is just less than two seasons removed from taking the Arizona Cardinals to the NFC title game, will agree to part ways with the Cardinals next week, multiple sources tell Hub Arkush of Pro Football Weekly.
-
Arians denied that report.

He's referring to this, I assume.

ASJ in studio in 10 minutes
-
This dude is so humble. Said he viewed this season as his rookie year and gave himself a 6/10 grade.
-
When asked about his free agency, he said he wants to return to the Jets. He says they have a great young core in place.
He’s a big fan of Bowles. “Phenomenal coach.”
-
If we wind up with Mayfield, he'd be a happy guy. Every other pass was to his TE.
Need to get him up the seams and stop this dump off/screen bullshit. That was my primary fault on Morton.

I have absolutely no problem with screen passes, done right they're extremely effective. It's the slow developing lateral pass to a flatfooted Ardarius Stewart four yards behind the LOS with no screen and three defenders to beat that pissed me off.
I'm a big fan of Josh McCown and everything he did this season, but there were plenty of occasions where a younger QB would have taken off rather than making that pass. It's good that McCown wasn't taking unnecessary contact, but if the receiver is getting tackled for a loss the net impact is no better than a sack.

I should have been more specific, I hated those calls going to ASJ. I don't mind well executed screens at all.

It's well noted how I feel about Mayfield as a player, but I was just thinking about this team and its construction which was heavily based on the type of personalities Duff and Bowles wanted to bring in. On each of their ESPN Radio interviews this week they sound like they were and are very focused on bringing the right people into this locker room to keep a positive attitude. Duff even talked a lot about it when he was discussing what Josh McCown means to this team. With that in mind, I wonder if Mayfield's polarity would take him out of consideration.
I know in the grand scheme of things he hasn't done anything really bad like steel crab legs or assault his girlfriend. Most of it is just gamesmanship, but it's polarizing either way and something to think about.
We have one of the youngest teams in the league and although our locker room seems strong at the moment, which I am defining by our teams effort in the last couple of games, I feel that it isn't necessarily stable right now, and one wrong piece could damage everything Bowles and Duff have worked to achieve.

I know where you are coming from. The #1 intangible I would be looking at with a rookie QB is leadership, and how his team rallied behind him.

Not sure about you, but I didn't at any point see him charging up and down the sidelines of the Rose Bowl game geeing up his defense, talking to his guys and generally doing everything I want from a quarterback, and think "you know, his problem is that he's just not enough of a leader".

I'm in no way saying he isn't a leader or that people do not naturally gravitate towards him. I'm saying his actions are polarizing which naturally could divide a locker room if things start going south during the season. All it takes is for one player to say something in the locker room about getting tired of his antics after 3 straight losses, and then Manish Mehta will report the Jets locker room is in shambles and the team hates their quarterback. Quickly followed by ESPN's full coverage of Baked Mayfield and then players are choosing sides. One cornerback derailed the classy Giants locker room and Kaepernick hasn't even been able to land a job. I'm guessing our brass may be contemplating these sorts of things because it seems like an important facet of their "team" building.

Iron crab legs?
-
Cousins: "playcalling, systems, the head coach, GM, who I'm throwing to..." on what's most important to him.
-
Cousins: "winning is everything. It's not about the money. I wanna win."
-
Based on the interview it sounded like he expects to be back with the Redskins and was lukewarm at best in playing for the Jets
-
Anyone else find this show to be god awful?
Also Cousins talked Bates up quite a bit from what I heard. It means nothing since this is the last place he'll sign when it's all said and done, but it's nice hearing both Shannahan and Cousins talk up our new coordinator.
-

The Fatcesa years conditioned me to avoid afternoon sports talk radio at all costs so I've actually never heard the new show.

No but it wasn't Francesa.
I didn't mind Boomer and Carton back in the day.
-
Bart Scott hot take of the day:
Maye will be a better player than Adams

How edgy of him.

Bart Scott just called Manish out for this comment. Says it’s a lie, and that he and his agent called a Manish twice yesterday to confront him and got voicemail 2x. Wouldn’t mention Manish by name.

Manish loves this excrement because he knows no one is going to smack him in the head. His rag of a newspaper loves the attention too. Bart is too type A to let it go.
-
I don't listen to the FAN, but Bart Scott joined the SNY postgame crew this year and I'm already tiring of him.
He absolutely knows football and has certainly forgotten more than I'll ever know, but he doesn't STFU. Ray Lucas and Willie Colon already look fed up because whenever they're speaking he starts talking over them.
-
I don't watch or listen to any of that excrement, it's hard enough watching the games. The five times a year we win I throw the post game on and bask in it, other than that I just watch the games and come here.
-
Lmaoooo Bart Scott just said that the Giants should switch to a 4-3 so they can play Leonard Williams at his best position, 4-3 DE. Compared him to JPP.
IMO, Leo’s best postion is:
4-3 DT > 3-4 DE ... > 4-3 DE

I don't care if they make Leo their punter, i want that 5th rounder to escalate to a 4th rounder.

All true

Not that anyone would have noticed, but Bart Scott did not get his contract renewed lol
-
is that why he has been showing up on ESPN with first take and get up over the past week?
-

Actually he signed on to ESPN because of what they did to Chris Carlin. Wfan wanted him back.
-
Scott also said something about wanting to be on TV
-
I’m glad he’s gone. It was cool to get player/Jets insight, but he was impossible to listen to

I don't listen to radio but I like him on the Jets postgame show. I'm not sure I could stand listening to him for hours every day though. Great insight directly after a game, and he's got a ton of snark, but I'd probably tire of it quickly in large doses.
