Marrone and team officials were seen shouting at each other on a practice field within earshot of players before final cuts were made last week, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. Reportedly, Marrone and director of player personnel Jim Monos got into a loud argument which included several f-bombs before general manager Doug Whaley and president Russ Brandon tried to break it up. However, things only escalated with Marrone and Brandon screaming at each other, with the tension concluding by Marrone saying "go ahead and fire me."

-

A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that coach Doug Marrone's frustration with the Bills' front office stems from their decision to sign Kyle Orton.
Marrone believes the Orton signing, so close to the season, may "shake E.J. Manuel's already fragile confidence." Marrone's feelings are not without merit, but the front office is trying to maintain job security, and clearly feels Orton was a superior backup option to Jeff Tuel. Although the up-top friction with the Bills can't possibly bode well, Manuel remains their biggest problem.

Why would Revis leaving Tampa (who gave us the DROTY and second best player in our team for him ), make us a circus?
And you don't remember Welker randomly getting benched, or not getting snaps over Edelman, and the random drama over his departure?
Big difference between letting one of the best players in the history of your franchise walk after a ugly breakup, and trading one of the best players In the history of your franchise, for one of the future best players on your team (and possibly history of the franchise)

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11663100/buffalo-bills-sale-unanimously-approved-owners
Forbes valued them last year at $935M, the 31st most valuable franchise. If we therefore apply the 150% inflation that the Pegulas have created, that makes the Dallas Cowboys (Forbes rank #1, valued at $3.2B) worth around $5B. The Jets go from $1.8B to closer to $3B.
The Patriots are worth $2.6B under Forbes' valuation and a little over $4B on the Pegula scale, but I think their value is inflated; they are coming off a period of unprecedented success in an area where football is the third or fourth most popular sport, and I suspect that when the slide begins their value will plummet.

Sounds like a great guy, what are you talking about?
Livingston lawyer Ted Wells released a 144-page report summarizing his investigation into workplace conduct within the Miami Dolphins organization. That report landed hard on the team and on offensive lineman Richie Incognito, who grew up in Englewood.
Deadspin provided a helpful Cliffs Notes version of the report. Here, in no particular order, is a summary of the report's 10 worst findings about Incognito, whose bullying of former teammate Jonathan Martin prompted the NFL to hire Wells to do an independent investigation:
1. An attempted cover-up. The report says Incognito kept a "fine book" that tracked penalties handed down by the team's kangaroo court. After Martin went public with bullying and harassment allegations against Incognito, the report says Incognito texted two teammates to ask them to destroy the book.
2. Jokes about shooting black people. The "jokes" were discovered in text messages between Incognito and an unnamed fellow offensive lineman. That lineman, in turn, joked about shooting then-Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland. The report concluded the following: “We accept that these messages are nothing more than thoughtless banter, with no underlying malicious intent. But such jokes are nonetheless reprehensible and arguably reflect deep-seated racial hostility.”
3. Racial taunts at Martin. From pages 117-18 of the report: "Martin related that one day when he showed up to practice one day without showering, Incognito began calling him a 'smelly,' 'dirty' or 'stinky Pakistani.' Martin said that Incognito’s teasing about body odor continued, even when he was wearing heavy deodorant, and that it bothered him significantly, particularly because it had a racial element."
4. Graphic sexual comments about Martin's sister. That's according to Martin, who said the comments were made verbally. Martin also accused two other Dolphins offensive linemen—John Jerry and Mike Pouncey—of having made similar remarks.
5. Racial taunts at an Asian assistant trainer. Incognito, Jerry, and Pouncey subjected the assistant trainer, who was born in Japan, to words and phrases like "Jap," "Chinaman," "chink," "North Korean," and "dirty communist." On the anniversary of Pearl Harbor one year, the report says, the three lineman "donned traditional Japanese headbands that featured a rising sun emblem (which the Assistant Trainer had given them) and jokingly threatened to harm the Assistant Trainer physically in retaliation for the Pearl Harbor attack."
6. Homophobic taunts of an unnamed player. In addition to verbal insults, the player was subjected to various forms of touching (such as on his backside) by Incognito, Jerry, and Pouncey, all of which was meant to taunt him for allegedly being a homosexual. The report says there's evidence offensive line coach Jim Turner was aware of the taunting and even participated in it.
7. Leaks to media after the fact to try clear his name: A cache of friendly text exchanges between Martin and Incognito was released prior to the publication of the Wells report. Martin now believes Incognito began texting him with the intention of leaking those messages to the media.
8. Fines for harassing a female volunteer at a charity golf tournament. In May 2012, the volunteer filed a report with police that accused Incognito of touching her inappropiately with his body, squirting water on her, and using a golf club to touch her genitals. He was not charged with a crime but did settle with the victim for an amount reported to be $30,000. Also, Incognito and some other players went joy-riding around the parking lot of the golf club with one of the club's guest's cars and allegedly damaged the guest's luggage. The Dolphins fined Incognito twice for a total of $55,000. The Wells report says Incognito "has admitted that both incidents were fueled by alcohol."
9. Harassment of offensive tackle Nate Garner. The team razzed Garner to such an extent Incognito joked in a text he thought Garner was "on the verge of killing us all." After Martin left the team, Garner texted him offering to talk, saying, "I have been dealing with this [bleep] for 6 years. I hope ur doin ok"
10. Alleged assault of Martin. Some friendly pushing and shoving between Incognito and Martin at the Dolphins' 2012 Christmas party escalated into Incognito removing his shirt, tackling Martin into a couch, and "punching him in the body and the face (though not hard enough to bruise or draw blood)," per the report. Incognito eventually had to be removed from Martin by several teammates. Incognito would later describe the incident as "horsing around."

It's pro football, the object is to get players and try to win games. I realize you all hate Rex, but getting yourself over that fact, it's June. Guys who don't contribute won't make it through camp, you only get so many draft picks, so every team brings in as many players as they think can possibly help and keep the best ones. Once you look past an irrational obsession with criticizing everything Rex Ryan does, it's pretty simple.

ESPN Bills reporter Mike Rodak suggests Matt Cassel might be on the roster bubble entering training camp.
Rodak calls Cassel the "clear loser" after OTAs, where he was outplayed by E.J. Manuel. Cassel was reportedly "just downright bad" in one or two practices. Rodak says he initially believed Cassel would be the Bills' Week 1 starter, but "now question(s) if he will make the roster." If Cassel's struggles continue into August, Buffalo could save $4.15 million by cutting him.

Much as I can't stand Geno Smith, I think he's still got a higher ceiling than anything on the Bills' roster. Our line is better, our secondary is better, our receiving corps is deeper. There isn't a single unit on the Bills that I'd swap for ours bar the backs.

The only truly terrifying DLs in the division are the Jets and Bills.
And fortunately for Buffalo they can't play themselves, and the Jets have a QB who threw like 7 ints against them last year or some excrement

The Patriots DL isn't star-studded, but the front 7 as a whole is a pretty effective unit. The secondary is an absolute wasteland bar McCourty.

I lost count. Geno threw three in the first quarter, Vick came in and threw one or two more, there was a fumble or two in there. Then we had to play them again.

Buffalo Bills Offensive Coach Arrested by WCSO
On Saturday night deputies with the Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Winston lane at Inlet Beach in Walton County, Fla in reference to a battery.
When they arrived deputies spoke to the caller and learned three boys had been fishing on the beach when the suspect, later identified as Buffalo Bills Offensive Line Coach Aaron Kromer, and the suspect’s son confronted them over the use of beach chairs left by a beach access.
Victims told deputies Kromer grabbed their fishing pole and threw the pole into the water and then pushed one of the boys to the ground and punched him in the face. It was stated Kromer then told the boys to return the chairs to where they found them.
The victim stated Kromer also told him if he reported him to the police he would kill his family.
Kromer was subsequently arrested early Sunday morning on a misdemeanor battery charge and transported and booked into the Walton County Jail. He has since been released on bond.
WCSO is continuing to investigate and additional charges may be filed. WCSO executive staff will be reviewing this case first thing Monday morning when the redacted arrest report will be made available. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
Classy.

Must not be minor if they are using these terms at all. Doubt it's a Wilkerson-like tweak.
#Bills HC Rex Ryan: LeSean McCoy has a hamstring injury. The hamstring is in tact, not off the bone. We're getting an MRI on it

Hello Ray Rice.

Not sure if they have grass medians in Buffalo.

With all the RB injuries in Buffalo people mentioning Ray Rice, but another Rex favorite from the Jets days is out there - Shonn Greene.
This just in...... In an unprecedented move, the Bills sign Chode Greane directly to IR to cut out the middle man.

E.J. Manuel is expected to open the season as the Bills' No. 2 quarterback.
He's earned it with a phenomenal preseason. Manuel has completed 20-of-30 passes (66.7 percent) for 358 yards (11.9 YPA) and a 4:0 TD:INT ratio. GM Doug Whaley still "strongly supports" Manuel, whom Whaley picked 16th overall in 2013. Matt Cassel is expected to be released by Saturday afternoon.
First time I've seen phenomenal and EJ Manuel on the same page ever
-
Regardless of what you paid to get him, you can't pay Cassell 4+ million to be the #3 QB.

Just read that IK was cut by Buffalo. His NFL career is most likely over.

Bills re-signed Cassel, presumably for a much smaller contract, and then installed him as the number 2 QB ahead of Manuel.

This is moderately amusing, but the whole "please be our rivals, we're relevant now, honest we really are" is a bit desperate and pathetic.
http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/_/id/13683336/buffalo-bills-poke-fun-new-england-patriots-air-pump-display
There's only one true rivalry in the AFCE. Miami and Buffalo are just there to make up the numbers and they know it.
-
I think all 4 teams are legitimate rivalries. The Bills are slightly more irrelevant to Jets fans because they've been so bad for so long, but Buffalo fans hate the Jets. There are a lot of Jets fans who still consider Miami the more bitter rival due to history.
The Patriots are universally hated. The only reason the Jets might qualify as their "biggest" rival is the fact that Belichick jumped shipped here for them and because the Jets ushered in the Brady era.
As for the Bills' stunt, I thought it was great. Rex's ability to shape culture is pretty amazing. Too bad that culture wound up where it did here.
-
Jets Dolphins is a big rivalry. It always has been, and it always will be. The idea that Jets-Pats is the only rivalry in the AFCE is silly.
-
But Pats fans hate the Jets more than the Bills or Dolphins. It's more of a NY Boston thing too.
If we had to rank then:
Jets - Pats
Jets - Dolphins
Dolphins - Pats
Dolphins - Bills
Jets - Bills
Pats - Bills
-
Jets Dolphins is a big rivalry. It always has been, and it always will be. The idea that Jets-Pats is the only rivalry in the AFCE is silly.
Sure. But beating the Dolphins is less fun when they're excrement, as they have been for a while. Rivalries only work when there's something to play for, and they've only been relevant a couple of times in the last few years.
-

Say what you wanna say, but now that Rex is in Buffalo and the Patriots are going to become completely obsolete in maybe 2 years means that the AFC is going to have some major new rivalries
Rex basically instantly makes Buffalo a major rival again, and with the Dolphins being the only team in the AFC East with a young promising franchise QB I imagine things with them are going to spark off as well

When the road to the postseason doesn't go through Foxborough then I'll be willing to consider other rivalries. Obviously IJR is right that they change, but right now it's New England.

The Patriots are especially loathsome because of their recent success.
The Bills also play in the division.

American sports don't only have rivalries when both teams are good. If they did, the Jets and Pats wouldn't be a rivalry right now either.

no you can't. But if he fails in buffalo, which I expect because it's freaking Buffalo, he can only blame himself for not waiting on the Atlanta job, which had a damn QB and a virtually elite offense, so all he could do was allocate his resources to the defensive side of the ball and build an elite unit there.

The thing I love most about the Bills debacle is that Dan Quinn is killing it with the Falcons. Rex could have owned that division for the next decade, but he just couldn't bear the possibility of being undefeated with a below average defense.

I think he wanted to keep the Rex vs Patriots thing going. He made his career up until that point saying how he will dethrone the Pats, etc.
-
Rex neutralized Mario Williams for his opponents. Good job.
Rex will be a college coach soon enough. Would probably do well at pumping out DLs for a long time. Never touch his QBs or WRs though.
-
I'm glad he's with the Bills. He does a decent enough job annoying Brady, even though he doesn't beat him much.
-
So at this point we're basically rooting for the steelers to crash and the bills to continue to spiral . Bengals look to have a lock on AFC North, Colts will limp to another division crown . Chiefs are dead in the water without Charles it seems .
Who else is a legit wild card threat? Maybe TEN but I dunno how soft their schedule is moving forward .
-
Looking at the schedule it isn't totally crazy to have us at 12 wins and still only getting a wild card. freaking pats.
I also don't think we win 12 games.

AFCS won't produce a wildcard.
AFCN most likely contender is Pitt with the Browns as a darkhorse that nobody believes in
AFCW San Diego is gonna win several games in a row at some point, but 4 early losses hurt their chances.
Loser of this Jets vs. Pats game is the leader for the 5 seed IMO.

I think the Steelers are a legitimately good team. For them to keep winning without Roethlisberger is a really good sign, because with Ben, that offense is absolutely loaded.
Nobody else scares me. Honestly, after Pittsburgh, Buffalo and San Diego, Miami is probably be the next biggest threat

It's funny to see Rex crashing and burning up there but it's really strange.. that was a defense Mike Pettine coached just a couple years ago and seems ready built for a guy like Rex.
What the hell has happened in the span of 6 months.. their secondary is good too, it's not just the elite DL they have.

I am not defending Rex so much as saying, I am holding off on his demise this year. They have lost to the 2 best teams in the AFC. imo That said, Buffalo's problems are everything we have seen and didn't like about Rex. They include the lack of discipline, poor half time adjustments, the emotional highs and lows and his bluster. People are already frustrated with him, his act isn't like it was when he was first hired here. It was fresh and different back then, now it looks bad with a franchise that has a long history of losing.
Buffalo is still a dangerous team. His coaching so far is a bit underwhelming. However, when their schedule gets easier and he still is losing then it may be time to really laugh. Until then they have had a pretty difficult schedule.

Yeah pretty much. Still early enough in the season for them to turn it around. Wouldn't call it "crashing and burning".
-
Crashing and burning is probably not the best term but they are coming off some bad defensive games and their two star players are speaking out publicly against him. In the eyes of the NFL public it won't be good.
-
Did Rex change the scheme on them? I would have thought that Pettine to Rex would be a pretty seamless transition.

You'd think getting fired for those exact things, would inspire you to attempt to correct them...

If you want to behave like a small child I'm sure there are other sites where such behaviour is accepted. It's even possible that you might not be banned from one or two of them yet.

I'm not saying the Bills claimed him to learn Bill's gameplan for how to beat the Jets, but it is definitely amusing to think it is true.

Well considering that this is what he said in an interview 8 days ago
5. Williams wants to be an edge player: Williams reiterated that he would rather be playing on the edge, where he mostly lined up with Mike Pettine's defense in 2013. "I say it all the time: I want to be on the edge. But once again, that's not being critical," he said. Williams added that he has been getting "out there on the edge every now and then" this season.
Hes pissed that Rex is using him in the Coples role, jamming receivers and dropping into coverage and excrement

hey, if both your careers are about to flame out(in the case of Rob it already happened), might as well do it together.
Ryan's last stand
-
OK, now they really should do Hard Knocks.
-
I bet the defense is actually going to improve with those two
I also bet the offense takes a huge step backwards and they miss the playoffs.
But Hard Knocks could actually save both those guys careers
-
The prophecy has been fulfilled

I'd watch that Hard Knocks. Rather see that than the Vikings or some stupid crap. Like them or not, they are entertaining.

I'll watch any team on Hard Knocks. I'd rather not see those fat pieces of excrement every episode though.

Are you suggesting Rex have anal sex prior to retiring?
Yes, yes he was.
-
$2.5 million of LeSean McCoy's $4.8 million salary for 2016 is guaranteed.
The rest of it becomes guaranteed when the new league year begins on March 9. In other words, the Bills would have little financial incentive to move on from McCoy if he ends up getting charged in his assault case. Cutting McCoy now would create a whopping $10.5 million in dead money, and suck up an additional $5.325 million in cap space. Unless there are new, more explosive details yet to be released, we'd fully expect McCoy to keep his roster spot.
sure that wont backfire or anything

-
Not lolBills territory yet, but
Bills RCB Stephon Gilmore will be a no-show for OTAs as the sides continue to discuss an extension.
Bills GM Doug Whaley recently said he's "actively" trying to lock up Gilmore, whose $11-plus million salary cap number could be reduced with a long-term deal. Entering a contract year, Gilmore is likely targeting Josh Norman money in the five-year, $75 million range. Gilmore plans to spend the next few weeks training in Charlotte and Miami. Gilmore should not be considered a "holdout" unless he skips the Bills' mandatory minicamp set for June 14-16.
If he gets Norman money (or holds out) I think both are pretty lolworthy

Same ole Rex talking up all his guys
The Buffalo News' Tyler Dunne named second-year WR Dezmin Lewis the Bills' "minicamp MVP."
This is our fourth blurb on Lewis this month, so he's been one of the more hyped players of the spring. With Sammy Watkins (foot) on the shelf, Lewis worked across all three offensive groupings, seeing a ton of reps. Jobs behind Watkins and Robert Woods are up for grabs. Lewis appears to be leading the pack heading into the summer. Lewis (6'4/214) was a 2015 seventh-rounder.
The Buffalo News' Tyler Dunne said Bills OLB/DE IK Enemkpali was "impressive all week" at minicamp when he ran with the first-team defense.
Enemkpali is famous for jacking Geno Smith in the jaw last year when with the Jets, but Dunne calls Enemkpali the potential "key" to the defense with first-rounder Shaq Lawson on the shelf after shoulder surgery. Enemkpali is expected to push Manny Lawson for the starting job opposite Jerry Hughes.

I have bought 3 pairs of AE's in the last few months........
Leeds 13 Black
Park Ave 13 Black
Shelton 13 Burgundy/Black
The Leeds are the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. The Park Ave's are starting to become very comfortable after the 5-6 time wearing them.
The Shelton's look nice, I got them @ less than 1/2 MSRP from Amazon. They are of dubious quality, however. I should have sent them back and didn't so that is squarely on me. They were old shoes from the lapse in quality days of AE (black insoles, sole a little out of alignment and bump in the leather). They still look ok at first glance, it's probably just me that really notices the imperfections. I believe they should have been 2nd's.
My next purchase will be Shell Randolph or EG Picadilly (yeah I know, not for this thread). I need a loafer next.
Anyhow, I am quite happy with the quality of the Leeds and Pa's. They are certainly made with care and are very comfortable. I will definitely buy more AE's.

I predict Forte and Powell will have 67 catches per game out of the backfield against the Bills if Spikes plays.

I was going to LOL but it's $90M with incentives and team options. If he's the long term starter then that's a steal, if he isn't they can probably get out from underneath it without too much trouble. Probably a good piece of business.

From what I read nothing is guaranteed after this season
I'm not quite sure why he signed this contract. The team has an option for 27.5 million next year along with the rest of the contract. And the only way they pay him 27.5 million next year is if the rest of the contract is a steal. In other words I have no idea why he signed this, unless it was because he got more money this year
-
Turns out now he gets 9.5 million guaranteed this year which explains everything.

Is Rex going to take over playcalling duties on offense? I'm presuming he'll give it to Thurman.
Next up for the Bills are the Cardinals and Patriots.
Edit: Anthony Lynn taking over, which is who I was thinking of.

Rex will be fired this year. He hasnt learned from past mistakes...he obviously blames the offense for his own shortcomings ( 5 different OCs in 8 years??). Still says stupid excrement.
I hope the Bills keep him because he sucks...but at some point Pegula will wise up.
-
Rex's downfall, as usual, is that he's always busy blaming everyone else for all the problems with his teams. When you point a finger at someone else, three point back at you.
I really used to like the guy but he's such an egomaniacal idiot.

Gotta wonder if there was a meltdown or argument after the game. Awful early in the year to fire someone.

So after giving up 37 points and looking like complete derriere, Thurman is safe.
They said, Pegula made this decision but I find that bullshit. The offense wasn't the problem, that defense sucked. Thurman Merman is Rex's guy and was protected.
-
I posted this in the jets bills result thread...but it needs to be posted here. Rex's D gave up 493 yrds of offense...and he fires the OC.
If that doesnt depict a retarded putz, then puck has a bridge to sell you.
-
In fairness, and only because it's factual, their offense sucked poopchute last night too. Apart from from a couple of miscommunications that handed them big plays, a TD scored by the defense, and an extra soft prevent defense late in the game, they did nothing.
Roman's sacking comes one day after Buffalo lost its home opener to the Jets, in which the offense mustered 16 first downs and went 3-for-10 on third downs. Tyrod Taylor threw for 297 yards and three touchdowns, but 155 of those yards and two of those scores came on two plays.

The biggest problem for Rex is that the defense is the problem. That has to kill him, that he took over a top defense, and it's been mediocre at best under him.
The Jets crushed him where it hurts. Stopping them on 3rd-and-1 and 4th-and-1 in a huge possession. And lighting up his defense like a color rush Christmas tree.

I wonder though if Rex gets fired from Buffalo, whats his plan to repair his image? I mean his image has taken quite a hit after leaving the Jets, and if he plans on getting into the media he will have to do something about it.
I also wonder if Tanny trys to bring him to Miami

When the Bills shocked the NFL world and fired offensive coordinator Greg Roman on Friday morning, the organization did so after a fact-finding mission the morning following its 37-31 loss to the Jets. But the manner in which they did so is enough to raise some eyebrows.
According to multiple sources, Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula convened private meetings Friday morning with several offensive standouts to discuss the offense. They aimed to get a tenor of what was going on and picked the brains of players on several issues, including play-calling. They tried to figure out what was wrong.
Rex Ryan -- the coach who said the decision to fire Roman two games into the season was "my move, without question" -- was not present for these meetings. He wasn't in the room. Ryan also wasn't pleased when he learned of the nature of them, according to one source briefed on his thinking.
These meetings, involving key players such as quarterback Tyrod Taylor and others, are one reason why some principals believe ownership played a role in Roman's dismissal.
Roman, who coordinated an offense that led the league in rushing last year, was fired with two years left at $2 million per year. He was dismissed despite scoring 31 points against the Jets, but after dealing with a significant clock issue late in the game.
Ryan replaced him with running backs coach Anthony Lynn, who also serves as assistant head coach. Ryan said the ball will find the hands of his playmakers more under Lynn.
Ryan said he made the decision to fire Roman, then informed ownership of the decision. One source informed of the team's thinking suggested the Pegulas used the meetings to confirm that Ryan was considering getting rid of Roman after the Bills' Week 1 loss. The same source said the Bills are "Rex's team."
Other sources, however, believe the move to fire Roman was spurred by the Pegulas meeting with players. They believe the suggestion was brought to Ryan.
Either way, the gravity of the Bills' situation just became increasingly clear.

Bills convince some old dude to return (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/bills-bring-percy-harvin-out-of-retirement-to-try-and-spark-passing-game/)
The Buffalo Bills are bringing back an old face to try and generate some new offense, signing Percy Harvin out of retirement according to his agent Greg Barnett. Harvin last played for the Bills in 2015, before hitting injured reserve in November with multiple injuries (although reports at the time indicated his issues might not be "strictly injury-related"). Harvin didn't travel with Buffalo to London and eventually retired at the age of 27 this past offseason.
Now he's back in the game, joining Buffalo again in his third stint with a Rex Ryan team. With Sammy Watkins out and the team's top wide receiver being Robert Woods, it's understandable the Bills would be interested in seeing if Harvin can step in and produce for the passing game.
The beauty of Harvin is his production is athleticism-based, which means he doesn't need a ton of practice in a system to make him effective. Put him in the backfield -- the Bills are also dealing with injuries to LeSean McCoy -- or let him operate in bubble screens.
Optimism for Harvin might be asking a bit much though. He said he would have his best season ever before 2015 and that wasn't the case. There were reports he would play again this year, but they never came to fruition.
In the last three years, Harvin has 718 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Expecting him to be a difference-maker after taking months away from the game is asking a lot.
Harvin's entire history in the NFL is pretty wild. He is the ultimate modern NFL talent who never lived up to what people wanted from his skillset. Drafted in the first round by the Minnesota Vikings in 2009, Harvin would do things people other people couldn't do.
How can you not be enamored by that play??? The Seahawks certainly were, trading a first-round pick for Harvin. He wouldn't play much for Seattle, but did break a kick return to the house in the Super Bowl that they won, so he served as the world's most expensive victory cigar -- they also gave him a six-year, $67 million contract -- until he started breaking up Seattle's locker room and they sent him to the Jets in a deal.
Harvin was later released and would sign on with the Bills before 2015. If he can make any impact at all for Buffalo, it's a big plus.

The Buffalo News reported earlier Thursday that Taylor has been dealing with a "severe groin injury" for the better part of a month. The Bills' plan was to sit Taylor this week so he wouldn't get hurt, but it's already too late. Taylor's contract calls for a guaranteed $30.75 million if he can't pass a physical by the start of the new league year. A hernia operation will have him borderline. It's a potential worst-case scenario for the Bills, who have shown Taylor they don't believe in him. E.J. Manuel has already been tabbed as the Bills' starter for Week 17.

How much do you wanna bet he slowplays the freak out of his rehab?
He almost certainly played it like this specifically because of the money.
Had he waited a few weeks, people might call bullshit and maybe the Bills fight to void the contract. "Revealing" now that he's been playing hurt, when he's on the outs with the organization anyway, makes him look like a guy who fought through pain for his team and then was cast aside. Especially when earlier in the day someone in the media was pushing the narrative that Taylor was skipping practice and laying the pathway for an exit from the team.
It's self-promotion/preservation on a scale Revis could admire.

They missed Rex.
-
Probably belongs in both this and the Rex Ryan thread
Bills GM Doug Whaley claims he doesn't know why previous coach Rex Ryan was fired, and had "no input" in the decision.
K. There's no point in even pretending this could possibly be true. It speaks very poorly of Whaley, who has been anything but forthright throughout the Bills' latest coaching change. It's mysterious as to why Whaley has been given the opportunity to hire his third head coach in five years. The Bills could be on the brink of going off the rails.
-
The only thing that could make me happier than the Bills going off the rails is it being the Patriots. I'm a little bit too young to hate Miami as much as older Jets fans (apart from the fake spike game), but the Bills were dominant in my youth in the era where they didn't lose a game if Thurman Thomas ran for 100 yards.
-
When all is said and done, the Bills could very well determine their best move is to swallow hard and stroke the check for Taylor. Otherwise, they might be inclined to follow through with a plan that is thought to be appealing to at least one member of their hierarchy, General Manager Doug Whaley, and that is going with Cardale Jones as the starter.

NFL giant found half-naked in field, asks police to shoot him (http://nypost.com/2017/04/20/nfl-giant-found-half-naked-in-field-asks-police-to-shoot-him/)
Buffalo Bills tackle Cyrus Kouandjio has a pretty good excuse for missing practice Thursday.
Police found the 23-year-old partially clothed in a field (http://buffalonews.com/2017/04/20/kouandjio-involved-bizarre-incident-police/) on the side of the highway Tuesday in Elma after he apparently had abandoned his car on the road.
When officers approached Kouandjio, he reportedly yelled, “Shoot me!”

The first police source said that deputies suspected Kouandjio pulled off Route 400 when he saw the flashing lights from police and emergency vehicles on the scene of the accident, and then went into the field on foot.

New staff. They drafted Nathan "Bible Songs" Peterman.
Anthony Lynn was actually with Jones in Buffalo and opted to trade for him, so he obviously thinks there's something there.

Not questioning Lynn's decision. I think he's shown enough to be worth considerably more than a conditional 7th.

Starting to think the current administration isn't a fan of Rex's picks.

Watkins wasn't his, but still.

Ignoring the context where watkins is worth a shitton more than Marshall or Decker, they picked up an extra first by trading down 16 spots in the draft and picking up a much shittier player as a result. Not trading Sheldon was probably dumb though, but who knows if they actually had an offer for a 2nd

Situations aren't comparable. Can't judge Sheldon until we see what ultimately happens. For all we know, he'll have 15 sacks and sign a monster deal with us in the off-season. Or he'll have the same result as last year and Duff will look bad for not getting a 2nd.
The other players weren't going to get the Jets anywhere near the value that the Bills' players could.
Kind of a dumb comparison.

Ragland's basically a two down backer though who only makes sense in a 3-4. No one's running through him but he offers nothing in coverage and he's slow as freak. Bob Sutton is the DC in Kansas so he's probably running a pretty similar scheme to Rex's, and apparently the new guy in Buffalo is firmly wedded to his 4-3, so you can kind of see why this deal would make sense.
Hey, maybe they can get Super Mario back.

We should have just done with this when he got here with all the cap space. It was a fun season but we didn't even make the playoffs that year.

Are you suggesting we spend close to 40 million a year keeping Wilkerson and Richardson with Leonard Williams soon to be due his own payday?
I'm suggesting we deal with that when we have to. Don't get rid of good players when you don't need to, things change all the time. Money isn't our problem right now, finding good players is.
-
Are you suggesting we spend close to 40 million a year keeping Wilkerson and Richardson with Leonard Williams soon to be due his own payday?
It's conceivable that Richardson could outplay Mo and make the Jets consider whether Mo is worth it. Not likely, but possible. Injuries happen too. Play out the year, see what happens. Weird excrement happens sometimes. No way they keep all 3 though.

But this is when we have to deal with that.
Either we give Richardson a monster contract with a freak ton of guaranteed money or we tag and trade him.
You can't easily trade a guy immediately after giving him a big contract without lots of issues arising

@ScoutFantasy:<< BREAKING >> Our source confirms an offensive starter for the @BuffaloBills has unfortunately sustained a VERY serious injury and will be holding a press conference on Monday to announce. Tune in now to @SiriusXMFantasy AND @AdamRonis @DrRoto to discuss.
-
I realize this tweet sounds fishy as hell, but go check the twitter account. Looks like a legit source and they’re backing up what they’re saying in following tweets.
-
Before people ask, I don’t think it’s Shady, believe he was seen healthy at the pro bowl yesterday. Maybe he tore an acl playing dodgeball?
If there’s a press conference, it’s gotta be career ending, right?
-
@VicCarucci:Can confirm there is an injury to a #Bills offensive player, per source. Working to confirm identity and severity.
-
Source confirms multiple reports that #Bills offensive starter has suffered serious injury. No identity given. @wgrz

I heard it was Ron Mexico.

A Bills sideline reporter is backing it up as well.
I'm thinking it's Kelvin Benjamin, Charles Clay, or Cordy Glenn.
-
The rumor I saw was Benjamin and the injury was career ending.

Apparently not KB
-
Apparently Eric Wood:
@ScoutFantasy:
Our sources that have led us here have informed us it's a career ending neck injury and the player is former Louisville Cardinal and current @BuffaloBills center Eric Wood. Our heart goes out to him, his family and former and current teammates.

well I was 1/2 right. Sucks for Wood best of luck to him in the future and to his health.

with Wood retiring the Bills will probably use one of their 1st rd picks on Billy Price

From @AllbrightNFL: "The #Bills have deliberately made known their interest in Josh Allen. Take that for what you will."
Also said same source made him aware of interest in Nate Peterman last year.

it's fucken official, every team out there is using josh allen as a smokescreen, every single one of them
-
Please let the Bills trade up for Josh Allen. Please.

Josh Allen is the reason we might get a franchise quarterback this year. God bless his cannon arm.

Josh Allen's big hands and mega cannon arm will allow him to throw only the deepest of interceptions in the swirling winds of Buffalo

Please let the Bills trade up for Josh Allen. Please.

Daniel Jeremiah just said on NFL Network he feels the Bills will move up to number 3 to take Josh Allen and then compared him to Cam Newton.....
-
Too good to be true
-
He played in cold weather in college so he'll be a hall of famer in Buffalo.
-
I actually think Josh Allen would be a really good fit in Buffalo. I have literally nothing to base this on aside from a gut feeling.
-
Josh Allen is Cam Newton with a more sincere smile.
-
Josh Allen is Cam Newton with Michael Cera's head
FYP
-
Josh Allen reminds me of Paul Dano as Frankenstein's monster.
-
In all seriousness, I don't have any I'll will towards Allen unless he's in the AFC East. He seems like a good kid, not his fault he's overhyped.

They put him into a psychiatric care unit. No DA is going to look at simple property damage charges against someone having some form of breakdown, especially not when the individual has the financial wherewithal to make the necessary reparations.
mj2sexay is way better placed than me to answer, but I'm guessing that there's a distinct lack of provable mens rea here hence insufficient evidence.

It'll be fun to watch. Like the article says, the Bills are going to have to trade up to 5-7 in order to get the Giants to bite at 2. Giants aren't going all the way down to 12.
Duff really did make it tough for them by sneaking to 3 way ahead of time.

I think so. Not many people are talking about the Broncos moving up because they signed Keenum, but it's a short deal and they are probably thinking the same thing as he Giants, that they won't get many shots to be this high in the draft. Case Keenum isn't a franchise QB.
Then again, they can't be too thrilled about giving up at least a first rounder. Its a perfect trade for the Giants unless they want a QB.

You know, I'm not sure. I've changed my mind a bit on Keenum, he's still only 29. I don't think he's ever going to be a franchise guy, but he's a safe, sensible veteran who I think can be a solid starter. He's not going to set hearts aflutter, but if he's your starter I don't think you're going to give up the moon on a stick to get his replacement.

It's still not a fair question though, just as it wasn't the other day. The Jets are trading a #1 as well, and a far more valuable one than any of the ones the Bills are giving up.
-
It's still not a fair question though, just as it wasn't the other day. The Jets are trading a #1 as well, and a far more valuable one than any of the ones the Bills are giving up.
You are correct, I should have said 2 #1s for the bills, the reason I left off the 1 for the Jets was because we are using that #1 on Rosen, and in the same way, one of the 3 1s the bills would trade to get up to #2 would be used on Darnold.
The reason we had to pay less to get Rosen is because our #1 was that much higher. At the end of the day all we can do is count the amount of draft picks that the teams would pay up to get the guy they wanted. In the end it's because it is how many more draft picks those teams would have to build around those young QBs.
-
The only thing that matters is how those picks work out. It doesn't matter how many picks you gave up if you draft the next great QB.
We've seen what an elite QB in the division can do to the team's playoff chances. The Patriots could pick 21 of us, put us in pads, and still win games. I don't want the Bills getting a good QB.

Richie Incognito retiring. Weird. Fired his agent a few days ago to go in a different direction. Now retiring.
Vic Carucci:
@68INCOGNITO just told me the following: "I'm, done. That's it. It's been a long career. Went to the doctor. My liver and kidneys are shutting down. The stress is killing me. It's just about doing what's right. I just want to be in the Hall of Fame." Full story to come.
-
"I just want to be in the Hall of Fame."
Yeah, Richie, about that. Don't worry about blocking out your calendar for five years from now.
-
Even his internal organs hate him.
-
Were the bills counting on him as a starter?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this offseason they lost:
Eric Wood - retirement/injury
Cordy Glenn - trade
Incognito - retirement/injury
Have they replaced any of them?

They've got a couple of younger players coming through and they signed a couple of JAGs, but it's certainly a weakened unit now. I would reckon this will reduce their desire to give up a huge mount to get into the top five, partly because they've got more holes to fill and partly because they're less able to protect a new QB.

Rototurd:
Free agent OG Richie Incognito was involved in an altercation at a Florida gym on Wednesday and is being held by police for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation.
It's called the Baker Act, which is an involuntary mental evaluation. Incognito allegedly threw a dumbbell at another man in a Boca Raton gym this morning "for no apparent reason" after first throwing a tennis ball at the gym-goer. Incognito was allegedly "rambling about the government and screaming at the other man to 'get off my f*cking playground'." This is the second time Incognito has been held under the Baker Act, with the first coming in 2014. Incognito is a free agent after being released by the Bills this week. He had planned to continue his career.

Doesn't look good for McCoy at this stage. Self help eviction taken to an extreme level?
-
The picture is horrific.
-
McCoy probably not playing another snap in the NFL, assuming he’s guilty
-
Attorneys for the victim, Delicia Cordon, released a statement to multiple media outlets Tuesday evening saying Cordon was sleeping in the home when a male assailant entered the house early Tuesday and demanded "specific items of jewelry" that she had been given by McCoy. There were no signs of forced entry, the attorneys said.
The attorneys' statement alleges the man bruised Cordon's wrists in an attempt to remove a bracelet and also struck her in the head with a firearm. The statement also alleges that McCoy previously made comments to Cordon that she could be robbed because the jewelry was expensive.
Court records in Fulton County, Georgia show McCoy had been attempting since last July to evict Cordon from the home. A hearing was scheduled for Tuesday in the case, but it was rescheduled to Aug. 14 because of an emergency in Cordon's attorney's family.
The attorneys' statement also alleged that on June 1, when McCoy was participating in practice for the Bills and Cordon was out of town, McCoy directed "his family, friends and laborers" to remove Cordon's furniture from the home in an attempt to evict her while she was out of town. The statement also alleges McCoy changed the house's alarm system and removed security cameras previously accessed by Cordon.

Nathan Peterman does my taxes and is a nerdy sidekick in a 90s high school sitcom.

Also hopefully this forces Josh Allen to play too early and he is forever launching 80 yard bombs overthrown by 20 yards and hitting reporters in the head on the sidelines.

Trying to avoid it but at least once a year we hype ourselves up for at least one game where we expect our D to feast on a banged up OL and then we only get 1 or 0 sacks.

Ravens defense is one of the best in the league. What are the Bills gonna do when Peterman shits his pants and Allen has to come in and get intercepted 50 times. I'm not going to knock them picking Allen, but they need an older vet that can at least not be embarrassing. I'm guessing they will sign one soon. I'm surprised McCarron didn't work out.

That’s been out for a while. Honestly if Cleveland had taken Chubb, Denver would have taken that deal and it would have been infinitely better for us. I think Edmunds is going to be a solid guy, I’d rather they had blown their entire load for Allen as opposed to only half of it.

file kelvin benjamin in the 'dumb hoodrat/fuckboy' category. josh allen can do everything he can to make the allen-benjamin connection work despite benjamin's excrement, and benjamin's the type of dude that would still blame his lack of success on allen

I saw some posts that there is a tear, but not a full one. I have no idea how reliable that info is though.
I also have no idea how that affects a QB. We see baseball players, including pitchers, keep throwing with partial tears, but there's no contact like with football. I guess he could play till it blows out, but if that happens in December, he loses all of next year too.

She just kinda lmao's and haha's through a direct confrontation with Fromm and then posts it online and pats herself on the back for doing so. Feels a little bo diddley to me.

It does make her seem a little disingenuous but I get her reasoning for doing it.
Calling out Jake Fromm isn’t going to end racism or even help the movement much in and of itself. The point is to not keep excusing comments like that.

She just kinda lmao's and haha's through a direct confrontation with Fromm and then posts it online and pats herself on the back for doing so. Feels a little bo diddley to me.
She doesn't immediately call him out with a "bro, not cool, walk that back" but it's not like she's joining in with the joke either. I know I've sometimes not responded when someone has said something off colour (no pun intended) for a variety of reasons - in a football (soccer) crowd when I realise that my principled stand is going to get me filled in by the gorilla who just said it, when it's a member of my wife's family at a big function and I don't want a scene (although in fairness if she had heard it there would be an almighty freaking scene), or simply because it takes a minute to process "did he actually just say what I think I heard?"
Maybe she feels like she's correcting a wrong that has rankled her for a while. Maybe she's out for her 15 minutes of fame. Maybe he fucked her and dumped her and she's been waiting to serve revenge. Any which way, it's not on her. We all bear sole responsibility for the things we say.

Yeah, I guess I don't really disagree on anything here. I think if racist gorilla or sexist cousin lost their jobs for some excrement they said, then that's ultimately on them. But I do think that if instead of expressing your displeasure directly, you emailed Gorilla HR, then you're a bit of queynte.

Jamal, freak you. This is absolutist bullshit that because Fromm made a freaking dumb joke, like I'm sure Jamal has never joked about wypipo, he's just smart enough not to do it on a public forum.
Brees has done more for black people in New Orleans then Jamal could freaking comprehend. And rotoworld's assertion that Fromm should get cut for this is retroactive justice that should be reserved for the likes of Donald Sterling where its a clear pattern.
-
Gonna take an unnecessary stand here: if you support adding prohibitively high taxes on guns and ammo then your position on the matter isn't materially different from Fromm's.
-
I thought Fromm getting cut by the Bills was something the sister said had already been mentioned to Fromm by the Bills.
I don’t know enough about him to say this is a pattern but I don’t know enough to say it’s not. Either way that was a really stupid joke on several levels.
Jamal Adams might know more about an SEC QB than anyone on this forum.

Oh I'm sorry, am I not supposed to read TheRoot #elevateblackvoices.
I'm sure Jamal has never ever made a dumb joke like that in his life. The only difference is Fromm was dumb enough to post it. That makes him a freaking dumbass, it doesn't mean he holds some racial animosity. And again. Brees has done more for black people than Jamal has in inner-city New Orleans. So yeah, I love Prez, but I don't agree with him at all here. I still want the man paid like a lover of the older lady.

I don't know where it falls on an overton window where our paths collide as some beautiful marriage of Marx and Mussolini, but it always makes me smile.
Not sure it's really an Overton question as it's not so much a political perspective that makes taxation as a form of gun control a stupid idea as one of rationality, and there are rational people right across the spectrum. There are economic answers to effective gun control, but this isn't it.

Also LOL at Jake Fromm thinking he would ever be elite at anything.

nfl players literally have no problem injecting needles into their bodies containing substances that will absolutely have negative effects on multiple organs in their bodies for a perceived theoretical benefit it may have for their careers (maybe)
but question a vaccine that at the very baseline makes covid a very mild disease if they happen to still contract it but at best theoretically protects them from getting covid altogether (not to mention that if the population had become vaccinated enough in a timely manner, covid as a severe disease at the population level would no longer be an issue, with less deaths and less long-term complications in those who end up getting covid and surviving) because of fanatical unchecked graphics and posts being spread on ig and facebook
i applaud those who try to engage and educate the anti-vaxx crowd, but it is something i personally do no longer. if people are loud and brash enough to straight up tell me their belief in all the anti-vaccine bullshit floating around, then there is literally no point in speaking to them. they don't want to hear what you have to say. they've chosen to entrench themselves in their stupidity and irrationality and make themselves feel better about it by attempting to paint it as a freedom issue

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/08/18/the-saber-rattling-over-the-new-buffalo-bills-stadium-officially-has-begun/
Pegula Sports and Entertainment spokesman Jim Wilkinson made some strong comments to WIVB-TV on Tuesday, making it clear that the stadium negotiations are indeed occurring with a clear “or else” in mind.
“The Pegulas have made a proposal,” Wilkinson said. “They would like to build it right there [in Orchard Park] and we need to hear back. You can’t really do plans and designs on things until you have a deal, and right now the City of Buffalo and the State [of New York] are going to have to decide if they want a team.”
Off you go then, freak off to wherever it is you want to go. Public money being used to fund the building of massive golden palaces for the world's most valuable sports teams owned by the world's richest people is deeply freaking offensive.

There is absolutely no reason given the revenue generated and pockets of the respective owners why public funds need to be utilized for stadiums, unless of course they want to enter into a profit sharing arrangement with the city where a portion of the teams revenue goes back into public coffers (and I'm sure said owners would shoot down such a proposal in three seconds flat, not to mention my anti-government streak would be dubious of such an arrangement anyway in terms of how said revenue would be spent).
Say what you will and there's a lot to be said about the current owners of the respective franchises in New Jersey, but they at least had to foot the entirety of the freight.
-
Would be so awesome if the Jets could build their own place in NY and leave the Giants with that giant freaking air conditioner.

Agree 100%. Countless studies have been done demonstrating how remarkably small the wider economic impact of a team is on a region, there is no justification for taxpayer money to be spent on supporting teams that make hundreds of millions a year in profits. I also agree with you on profit sharing models, PPP arrangements invariably work in the interest of the corporate members because they're far better at making it so. Governments repeatedly get shafted when they get into bed with private enterprise.
And yes, it's nice that we can pontificate on this from the moral high ground of our owners funding our stadium entirely without public assistance. It might be a terrible shitty stadium, but it didn't come at the opportunity cost of essential public services for people who paid into it but have no interest in using it.
-
Let's not forget that NY was going to dump a lot of money into the West Side Stadium before Sheldon Silver and Christine Quinn sucked from the Dolan teet.
The proposed stadium's location became fixed on the West Side rail yards when it was realized that it could be built using private financing. The Jets, who would call it home after the Olympics, agreed to build it and fess up $800 million, but requests from the city and state including a retractable roof that would allow the stadium to be used for other events, especially in conjunction with the flailing, neighboring Javits Center, had the city and state dedicating $300 million each.

Bills fans seem to be entirely not broken up about this. For example:
To be fair, Bobby Johnson is the one coach I really could care less about keeping.
Credit where it's due for the past five to six weeks of good OL play, but it's not been a good line for years. The longer linemen spent in our system, the worse they seemed to get.
Darryl Williams went from a shockingly good addition at RT to having to be bumped inside to guard to cover his definicies. Cody Ford has been an outright bust under Johnson's tutelage. Quinton Spain and Watt Teller got traded away or released for not being good enough - one of them has gone to the Superbowl, the others an All Pro (?).
Not to mention the complete lack of running game due to the line's definicies for at least a season and a half.
Yeah, I'm fine with this
-

While that’s the right move, he was a punter who never played an actual snap for them and was a late round draft pick. So he wasn’t exactly “winning games” for them

TIL I learned that Araiza the Aztec is a punter (and a lefty punter at that) who was a 6th round draft pick. Ok, that said, exactly what, when and where was this ever about him 'winning games'? Here's a guy who was drafted by them and who was on their roster. Now taking into consideration the unlikeable Bills organization and fanbase in addition to the many various and sundry things not to like about the city of Buffalo in general I merely suggested that his dismissal lowered Buffalo's unlikeable quotient by a factor of 1.
Pedantically yours,
; )

I was commenting on the team saying this is more important than winning games, which my point was he’s never helped them do that ever, and as a punter it would be arguable how much he’d help them win games anyways

Apparently this only warrants a one game suspension
NFL suspended Bills OL Bobby Hart one game for violating unsportsmanlike conduct rules.
After the game between the Titans and Bills ended, Hart approached an unnamed Titans coach, confronted him and punched him in the face by the end zone near the tunnel. It's unclear what led to this, but it seems emotions were riding high after the Bills dismantled to Titans 41-7. Hart will be eligible to return September 26.

How do you do that after you won?
I can only think of a few reasons and I don't want to speculate.
-
How do you do that after you won?
I can only think of a few reasons and I don't want to speculate.
Well this is a more logical explanation
In a letter to Hart, Runyan described a postgame incident where Hart, who played three games with Tennessee last season, sought out an unnamed Titans player as both teams were walking to the tunnel.
After initially being held back, Hart confronted the Titans player in the end zone and immediately swung at him with a closed fist. Hart's punch missed the player and connected with the head of an unnamed Tennessee coach.
"As both teams were heading to the tunnel, you walked directly across the field to seek out your opponent," Runyan wrote. "You approached him near the end zone and a coach had to hold you back as others shook hands. Once you and your opponent were in the end zone near the tunnel, you confronted him and immediately swung at him with a closed fist, striking the head of a Tennessee coach.
For punching a completely innocent coach in the head you absolutely deserve a bigger suspension than one game.
If there was some nefarious excrement at play you can make arguments, this is not that
-
I have always believed a huge part of the conduct policy is how much press your incident actually received and some random unnamed OL for the bills isn’t receiving much clout.
If Josh Allen had done the same thing, it’s all over the news and his suspension is 4-6 games

Maybe 2008? That was kinda tight with the Patriots and Dolphins most of the season, I feel like we might have led the division at points? Otherwise probably 2002.
Edit: I looked it up. We were second at 6-3 in week 10 behind the Pats on the tiebreaker, but by week 12 we had the lead because we were 8-3 and the Pats and Dolphins were 7-4 and 6-5 respectively. So the answer is 2008, but we still managed to finish 3rd.

JOSH ALLEN
QB, BUFFALO BILLS
josh allen
Josh Allen was not seen during warmups before his Week 10 game against the Vikings.
Allen is active but did not make an appearance at any point during Buffalo's warmups. Case Keenum, the only other active quarterback for the Bills, was on the field. It's anyone's guess as to what is going on here, but Allen may be active only as an emergency option. Allen is dealing with an elbow issue and entered Sunday listed as questionable. Fantasy managers should start looking for a replacement for Allen.

Ken Dorsey is fine. He's one of the better QB coaches and playcallers in recent years. The QB is the problem, which is the best possible outcome for what's happening to Buffalo.
The fanbase turning on a guy that was an MVP favorite two weeks ago is incredible.

This makes sense for them, the only thing they care about is the playoffs and they don’t need him to get there. It’s great for us because he’s the one pass rusher who really got after Zach last time we played. If it means Mike White has more time to operate it gives ourselves a better chance to steal that game from them.

The Bills are in something of a mess with the cap now as well, this was their YOLO shot to win a Super Bowl. Now they have some really tough personnel decisions to make: they're $43M over the cap for next season, their defense gets paid a ton of money and is starting to get old, and they have a couple of players making a ton of money that they can't move on from.
- Stefon Diggs is underperforming and an poopchute in the locker room, makes $28M next year, costs $31M in dead money if he's cut or traded
- Von Miller is completely washed, makes $24M next year, costs $32.5M if he's cut or traded
Tre White and Matt Milano are both 30 next season, both coming off serious injuries, and cost $28M between them - perfectly good value if they come back healthy and able to play to their previous standards, but expensive millstones if they don't. White is particularly concerning if I'm a Bills fan, in the last three seasons he's torn his ACL and then his achilles - the odds of him ever getting back to his previous standards would seem pretty low.
It even costs them $7.5M to cut Tyler Bass. which is $3M more than keeping him. They're really in a tough spot.

Stefon Diggs is underperforming
Did a Bills fan tell you this?
-
Did a Bills fan tell you this?
Relative to his previous years his numbers aren't great, and the last few games he's not been much of a factor. 5 TDs and 5 100 yard games in his first 6 games, 3 TDs and 0 100 yard games in the next 13 including the 2 playoff games. He had 21 yards on 3 catches and dropped what could have been the game winning TD last night.
Overall, he has not been very good this year.
-

I don't see it that way.
Shakir and Cook emerged as a threats. They also draft Dalton Kincaid. Diggs was still a target vacuum and this year doesn't look that much different than 2021 for him.
-
The biggest problem with Buffalo is not the injuries. It's all the excuses that Josh Allen gets.
It's never his fault. The dude has 21 turnovers in the regular season. He had the ball in crunch time last night and once again, didn't get the job done. First it was Ken Dorsey. Then Diggs. Now Tyler Bass.
We can blame the kicker, but the QB being an idiot put him in that spot. He had two checkdowns wide open to get them closer to either a first down or a shorter field goal and went full retard, as usual.
-
OK, but if Diggs catches that ludicrous 60 yard pass then they quite possibly win the game courtesy of a throw virtually no one else in the league can make. I'm not excusing Allen's mistakes and I'm not blaming Diggs for them losing last night, but $28M for 21 yards, 3 catches, a fumble and a crucial drop is part of why they have a problem next season.

If Josh Allen isn't a unclutch piece of a excrement, they quite possibly win the game too.
Diggs doesn't make $28M for one game. He's a big reason why they were the #2 seed in the AFC.

He didn't cost $28M this year, or in 2021. That's my point - his contract hit for the last 4 years with the Bills has been
2023: $15M
2022: $11.7M
2021: $6.4M
2020: $13.5M
For the next three years it's $28M, he's 30 years old, and he's not playing to the same level he has previously. Obviously he's still a really good player, but his contract is about to become a significant problem relative to his production. In fact, there are maybe only two receivers in the league who I think would justify that level of contract right now - AJ Brown and CeeDee Lamb, both because their balance of age and production are right.

Can we hire Ken Dorsey, please?

and he's not playing to the same level he has previously.
His stats are nearly identical to 2021's and this is with three other pass catchers taking yardage/targets away from him.

And he's going to be paid 4x as much as 2021 for the same production. Again, this is not a "Stefon Diggs is excrement" discussion, clearly he isn't. This is a "Stefon Diggs is not a $28M a year player" discussion.

I don't really like Jordan Poyer but I wouldn't hate signing him if not expensive and we can't keep Whitehead or onlyfans. That dude was always around the ball. He's older though. We have better places to spend money.

Trubisky is headed back to Buffalo, Kyle Allen to hit the FA market.

That's a shame, I would have liked Trubisky here to back up Rodgers.

Also restructured Von Miller's deal to save $8M on the cap this year.

I've got a coworker who is a Bills fan and he's happy about this because he felt like Diggs was a headache. I just don't see how the Bills are better by making this move.

They aren't. Honestly, I thought the Jets were better before this trade. But after, I feel more confident. Bills receiving corps is going to be something like Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman and like DJ Chark most likely.
-
They will probably just run the ball more and use the TEs a ton to make up for it.

Wait...QBs are allowed to run in the gold zone? Someone should let Hackett know about this
-
They started to commit a lot more to the running game after switching OCs and proceeded to go 7-2 down the stretch. I'd expect more of that.

A lot easier to run the ball with a legit #1 WR

Fair, but the Bills struggled to run the ball with anyone but Allen for the majority of the time Diggs was there with the exception of the second half of last season when Diggs was a relative non-factor.

The Boston Sports Journal’s Mike Giardi reports the Patriots and Bills are interested in acquiring Deebo Samuel.
The smoke that the 49ers are preparing to deal one of Samuel or Brandon Aiyuk is thickening instead of dissipating, and the Bills have a key piece of trade ammunition after modestly trading down on Thursday and acquiring the No. 33 overall pick. The Pats select at No. 34. At this point, it is beginning to appear likely that Samuel has a new home in the next couple of hours, but the all-in 49ers could maintain trade discipline and hold onto both wideouts with an eye toward a “last dance"-style run with this skill group in 2024.
Hopefully we're in these conversations, if not to win them then at least to jack up the price.
