I've read you need to practice separation slowly.

Leave for 10 sec - praise when no bark
Leave for 20 sec praise

I'm getting a puppy on Sunday. Any advice for the first night?  We are flying with it as well.  May god be with us

I had his crate set up next to my couch which is where I've been sleeping for the last three days. He does better with it the closer I am to him right now.
