A combine meeting, pro day meeting, top-30 visit, and private workout for John Michael Schmitz.

I think we like like this guy.
Good...can't wait to fire up the Schmitz Gay tribute thread

I don’t think it matters how much we like him. I would be floored if he’s on the board at 42 and I can’t see us as being in a position to realistically move up for him. If we take a C at 13 and he’s not a HOF player I think we are going to end up pretty frustrated overall. So I can’t see us making that move
Need a new one for a new board...

We can, should, and will move up for him.

What are we trading to get in front of the Giants at 25? If we assume that ultimately all these Charles Robinson rumors are true and we give 42 or 43 for Rodgers along with a conditional next year, with no 3rd rounder, what is left to trade up with to go get JMS?

The best scenario I can see trade wise I mentioned yesterday, and involves not giving either 2 for Rodgers. Trading 42 and 43 to Cincy for 28 and 60. I just don’t know that is really going to be high enough to get JMS. I really think we have to jump the Giants for him

There's your problem right there

Ohio State LT Paris Johnson is in Philly for a pre-draft visit with the #Eagles today and then heads up to see the #Jets tonight and tomorrow, sources say. He also visited the #AZCardinals last week. Lots of possible fits in the top 10-15 for the talented, well-rounded prospect.

Are the visits over now? Anyone want to compile the final list?

Trading up for a 24-year-old center doesn't seem like smart business, particularly when he's not even the consensus best player at his position. I'm expecting at least one of Tippmann and him to be available at our pick.

Agree.  Would opt for Joe Tippman (22 yrs.).

I think he’s the consensus #1 center

I've seen Tippmann ranked above him in a number of places. Daniel Jeremiah, for example, has him ranked 14 spots ahead of JMS on his big board.

I couldn't care less that a first round lineman is 24 years old.  What's the concern there, that he'll start to wear down early into his second contract?  Who gives a freak?

If it were a running back, I'd be concerned that he'd wear out during his first five years.  I'm also generally averse to taking older players late in the draft, because they'll need years to develop.  But we've got a gaping hole on the roster right in front of the player some people expect will lead us to the promised land in the next two years.  Motherfuck worrying about whether the best center in the draft is going to have an eight-year or ten-year career.
