yeah but...that hot piece of derriere JLo is gonna be your new owner soon.

if JLo and Arod buy the Mets, i may start to watch baseball/the mets again. i don't even care if they don't accomplish much as owners; getting the wilpon filth out of NY will be a huge victory in and of itself. i'd celebrate it like a fckin title

JLo and Arod have enough money to buy the Mets, but not nearly enough money to own the Mets. Not without a significant investor.

Personally, I’d be excited to watch the Mets because they finally have a decent home grown lineup. McNeil/Alonso/Rosario and the rest of the gang should be fun to watch for years to come

Also getting to watch deGrom every 5 days would be enough to make me forget about the shitty owners for a bit

Major League Baseball intends to propose a shorter season in which they would pay players a full prorated share of their salaries, sources told ESPN. The league believes the late March agreement allows it to set the schedule, and that this would fulfill players’ pro rata desire.

The potential season Major League Baseball envisions would run somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 regular-season games, sources told ESPN. The exact number is being considered, but the aim would be to return in July. It would be less than half of players’ proposed season length.

Jeff Passan
An important clarification to this news: MLB will continue discussing alternatives to the shorter season with players but believes that its March agreement with players allows it to mandate a shorter season and is prepared to use that option in the absence of a deal with MLBPA

Ya, that's a load of excrement. 50 games is freaking pointless...

theres no way theres baseball this year. owners seem to think pushing their financial burdens onto the players is a sound strategy for the future, players disagree.

Karl Ravech
@karlravechespn
MLB has made proposal to Players. 75 percent Prorated salary. 76 game season. Playoff pool money. No draft pick compensation for signing player.  Season finishes September 27th. Post season ends at end of October. Significant move towards players demands and effort to play more.

but then

Bob Nightengale
@BNightengale
The #MLBPA considers #MLB's latest offer a "step backwards''. They guaranteed 50% pay with possibility of earning 75% prorated salary. Also in proposal, per @karlravechespn, 76-game season, playoff money and no draft pick compensation for free agency.

@EvanDrellich
The MLBPA regards today’s offer from MLB to be worse than the league’s last because it shifts greater emphasis on risk sharing in the postseason. Players would receive 50 percent of pro rata if there is no postseason, 75 if there is.
@karlravechespn first on a new offer coming

@EvanDrellich
Put another way, MLB’s offer can be said to represent a 50 percent per-game pay cut with a potential upside of a 25 percent cut.

owners are really trying to act like the players are the problem and then offer this.

@Buster_ESPN
A voice on the players' side responding to the owners' latest proposal: "This offer should have been in April and it would have been rejected." There is concern among some of the moderates on the players' side that rather than pull the two sides closer, it will serve to entrench.

Lol

but mlb thinks they can force the players to pay a 48game season

Joel Sherman
@Joelsherman1
MLB knows now that no way it can start July 4 weekend. The 76-game proposal will last about a week. Feels like moving toward 48-54 game season that MLB believes players are obligated to play as long as full prorated salaries are paid.
