What was he doing before that?

Getting signed, cut, and re-signed by the Rams from 2017-2018 and failing to make the team out of OTAs or training camp for the Jaguars(2016), Chiefs(2017), Seahwaks(2019), and Packers(2019).

Sam Ficken wasn't even good at Notre Dame.

All of these guys that float around in training camps have monster legs.  Kicking is a lot like golf.  It's more mental than anything for the guys that have made it this far.

Exactly. And that's why Jason Myers can be one of the worst kickers in the NFL for years, have one good year with us, and then go right back to being mediocre.

i had hopes for vedvik too. i don't think we gave him a fair shot, but i'm not present behind the scenes and i don't know excrement. but it seems like we signed him really late, gave him like 15 minutes of actual practice with us on our field a half hour before the game, he subsequently shanked a couple kicks during the game, and he was released the next day.

ficken is garbage but it seems like we've given him chance after chance. i still find it kind of unbelievable and unwarranted that he got invited to camp after his showing last season

In kicker news: The #Titans are giving K Stephen Gostkowski a 1-year deal worth $2.75M with a max value of $3.25M with incentives based on field goal percentage. Solid.

We could have used a real NFL kicker...but nah..let's roll with the bum we got.

The guy they cut is better than Ficken. We should get him.

Signing Belichick castoffs usually isn't the way to go. Gostkowski is 36 years old, coming off a major hip injury, and he was 11-15 on extra points last year.

I would like to see some more competition brought in for Ficken, and I would have been fine with Gostkowski, but this isn't 2013 Gostkowski anymore.

Why are we hanging on to Ammendola?

He looks better than Ficken by comparison to Joe D?

Because we need a solid backup directional punter in case Morstead goes down.

I do wonder when we get to the point where teams save roster spots by merging the kicker and punter spots into one. Especially a more aggressive coaching staff that is more likely to go for it on 4th downs and pass up some punting/kicking opportunities.

Obligatory, we should've franchised Jason Myers post except Myers has been lousy this year.

Anyway, whatever happened to Kaare Vedvik?!?

That would mean you can make the backup QB the default holder, and put the fake kick on the table on every play.
