The #Jets rookies report today and No. 3 overall pick DL Quinnen Williams is still unsigned. The team planned for him to fly in Thursday, but he was not on the flight. Similar to last year with Sam Darnold, NYJ’s first rounder may not report with his teammates.

In all seriousness what's with the teams inability to sign it's freaking rookies

Is this predominantly because we've had a change in GM, and thus had a period of no GM at all?

Get these young talented players, and then can't even get them to training camp. It's like we don't wanna put guys in the best position to succeed

Three of the top six picks in the 2019 draft are yet to sign their contracts. The Giants and Niners each have two rookies as yet unsigned. This isn't a Jets thing.

Three of the last four #3 picks held out into training camp.  The fourth guy missed it altogether on IR. 

Not a big deal.  Especially not for a team that just nuked their front office two months ago.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the holdup in Quinnen Williams' contract talks is "deferment of signing bonus money."
Williams wants more of his bonus paid out this year while he is still a resident of Alabama, where the tax rate is lower than New Jersey. The Jets are apparently proposing the lowest percentage of a Year 1 signing bonus that they have ever offered to a first-round pick under the new CBA. Sam Darnold held out the first few days of camp last year before eventually signing.


Sounds like the Jets are being assholes for no reason if I understand this correctly

If that really is the holdup, this a non cap issue (when the bonus is paid). It’s not like if he’s a disaster and we decide to cut him in a year then he still gets his bonus money.

Just pay him so he gets into camp
