It's like when you split up with your girlfriend but neither of you can afford to move out and neither of you can afford the rent on your own so you decide to both stay in the apartment like roommates until the lease is up and excrement is WEIRD for the next six weeks until you both agree that you're just going to find a way to afford to move.

What is really unsettling are all of the reports about McCarthy and Lewis being considered for the HC job. If you’re going to start looking then you should definitely fire him first.

His contract is expiring.  Jones doesn't have to fire him.

NFL Update @MySportsUpdate

Jason Garrett is still lobbying to be the the #Cowboys HC, per @JayGlazer. He still isn’t officially out. Meanwhile, Mike McCarthy’s interview with Dallas went so well that he’s still there today.

Let it go, Jason.

It would be funny if they kept Garrett on in some other capacity.  Stupid, but funny.

Apparently Marvin Lewis has told Dallas that having Hue Jackson as his OC is a condition of him taking their HC job. I'm not really sure what to say about that.

Dunno how much Hue has lost respect in NFL locker rooms due to his time in Cleveland, but he has been a very successful OC before, especially under Lewis.

I can understand not wanting to give up the job but seriously why wouldn't the Cowboys immediately state their position?

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet

The #Cowboys have officially fired coach Jason Garrett, and Garrett has allowed them to do so, source confirms. Obvious but now done

This is already my favourite postseason since 2010. Just missing a Gase firing.

That's like saying he allowed them to hire him.

I suspect the whole allowing them to fire him is because he's not yet technically out of contract, and they need him to be done before they can move on to hire their new guy. It still sounds damn funny though.
