Anyone recommend a bottle of Scotch for about $100 please? I know freak all about Scotch, it's for a gift.
Depends who you’re buying for. In your price range of $100 Canadian:
Peaty and Smoky: Lagavulin 16, Ardbeg Uigeadail
Sweeter and Nuanced: Macallan 12 Sherry Cask, Highland Park 12 (Viking Honour)
Spicy and unpeated/light smoke: Bruichladdich Classic Laddie
Blended: Johnny Walker Green Label (underrated)
I say it depends who you’re buying for because a relative “beginner” will absolutely hate something heavily peated generally. If you’re looking for something really “smooth” you’d probably want to venture towards a 40% alcohol scotch with an age statement of 15 or even 18 to round off the edges. Glenfiddich 18 can probably be had for that price.
