I see why they didn't want to play Petty. But as a fan, I'd rather suffer through this torture than watch another Fitz game.

Petty made some nice plays and a lot of mistakes (to be expected in his first game)

I'd have no problem with them letting him ride it out. And maybe consider putting in Hack week 16 or 17

That's probably right.

I know it's Pettys first game, but we were so damn afraid to let him throw the ball outside or down the field after he missed Robbie Anderson wide open down the field for six.

But it reminds me of the Greg McElroy game. He was a spark purely because he wasn't the guy we had been playing, but he didn't look like a guy ready to pick apart a defense and lead your team to points. The INT to end it wasn't a mental mistake but poor ball placement, leaving it inside to be taken from his receiver.

I hope we give him the rock to play out the string. But to me his showing today indicates "Future Backup" rather than a true "NFL Starter"

Bowles isn't going anywhere after this year barring major infighting.  This team needs to be purged of quite a few old, expensive players.  Again.  Seems we say this every other year.  Or every year. Whatever. 

I hope that mmqb article was right and the Jets still expect this to be a another couple of drafts before any results.
