It's not high time to be overconfident.

with how bad their o-line has looked and our defensive line it's hard not to get excited. I do tend to think the eagles aren't THAT bad but everything we have seen this year would point to the Jets destroying the eagles.

Including the home field? That would mean that they think the Eagles are a slightly better team.

I'm biased, but I'm going to pound the Jets.

I don't want to get excited either...but Sam Bradford doesn't scare me.

It's based on the $$ flow, not anything else. Gamblers fallacy, the Jets are 2-0 and the Eagles are 0-2, where do you think the degenerates of this world are putting their money? No different then betting 1MM on tails after 20 heads in a row, thinking it can't logically happen again..

You say that, but I saw an interview with a guy who runs the book at one of the big Vegas casinos and he said that the perception of money swaying odds is massively overstated by gamblers, because it's rare that the money is tipped so heavily towards one team that it would make them shift the odds to any significant degree. Essentially his point was that they use a lot of intelligence to calculate the odds in the first place so the bets are placed evenly and thus minimise their exposure, and if they did take a disproportionate amount of money on one team it means they got the odds wrong in the first place.

Yeah, money doesn't shift the odds as much unless something happens, after which the casino will shift the line a bit to draw more money on one side etc. Also, I think the "automatic 3 point home field" gets overstated too. It's not a general rule. Based on intelligence the bookies think the Jets should win so they're giving the Eagles a few points to make that bet more attractive.

(on a serious note, I'm a little concerned about Sproles, Murray and Mathews getting our linebackers in space one on one)

I think it's actually a little concerning, we looked vulnerable when the Colts timed their WR screens with our blitzes. I think we go with a more conservative defensive gameplan this week. I remember thinking that the Cardinals defense played well against the Eagles last year.

Yeah, the whole automatic 3 points for home field thing always seemed a bit arbitrary for what is otherwise a pretty complex and involved process (calculating odds); playing in Green Bay or Seattle is a completely different proposition to playing in Jacksonville or Nashville. Crowds, weather and domes all play a part and just assigning three points to all seems lazy.

Oh so they do the odds in the first place to disperse the bets evenly, wow mind blown, thanks.

I guess Devin Smith will be active for the first time this week.  With Decker likely missing some time, I'm quite sure everyone is going to overhype Devin Smith and then bash him when he has 2 catches for 15 yards.  He isn't Amari Cooper.

Probably.

Not so fast on Decker, Bowles just announced he is day to day, just a sprain.

Good news.
