We don't sing it at each other though. At the Scots, and the Welsh, and the Australians, and the Germans and the French and the Argies and basically anyone who looks a bit swarthy, but not each other. That would be stupid.

It's an expression of solidarity and pride.  This beautiful country has produced a game so wonderful that we take pride in it, and regardless of the outcome, we are all countrymen and should embrace that fact despite our relative disappointment.  Not sure why that was hard to get.
